    While reflecting on Kobe’s history

    This trip was to show my relatives visiting from Hokkaido around, and it exceeded our expectations. The outstanding service quality, beautiful night views, and delicious meals were all wonderful. At the restaurant we used for dinner, you took thorough care regarding allergies, for which we are truly grateful. We were also very impressed when we bought a cake to eat in the Room and you provided plates and forks as well. Reflecting on Kobe’s strength—from Japan’s development in the Meiji era shown at Kitano Ijinkan to the path of recovery from the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake felt on the way back to the Hotel and at Kobe Port Memorial Park—this became an unforgettable trip. Thank you very much.

    This was my first st...

    This was my first stay in two years. Since we had a guaranteed ocean-view Room, it was great to be able to see Meriken Park, Port Tower, and the Ferris wheel. However, there were two disappointing points due to aging facilities: - The bathtub is old, and the yellowing and roughness were quite noticeable. - The toilet did not flush well. I would like to see improvements in the cleanliness of the bathroom area. Otherwise, I feel the price should be lowered. The front desk staff and cloakroom staff were very pleasant and helpful.

    We stayed for two ni...

    We stayed for two nights around our wedding anniversary on 3/9, and for the two of us well past 70, Hotel Okura feels calm and relaxing. Chuo Ward, Kobe is the city where my wife was born and raised, and the purpose of this trip was to take our time reminiscing about the past. From our mountain-side Room we had a panoramic view of the city; even when parts were hidden by tall buildings here and there, we were still able to enjoy the nostalgic “million-dollar night view.” For dinner, we had Chinese cuisine at one of my wife’s longtime favorite restaurants on the first night, and enjoyed Kobe beef on the second. The Hotel breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of dishes, with Kobe-style ingredients carefully prepared, and everything was delicious. It was a shame we couldn’t eat more, but both our stomachs and hearts were full. The Room had large windows that gave it an open feel, making it very comfortable. The only inconveniences were that there were no face towels, and we would have liked tissue paper in the bathroom as well. We were able to enjoy both present-day Kobe and memories of old times, making this a truly memorable trip. Thank you very much.

    I’m very sorry for arriving so late and causing you trouble. Even so, thank you very much for welcoming us so warmly. At check-in, the front desk asked if it was my birthday, and I received a red rose. My actual birthday was two days earlier, and since the purpose of our trip was our son’s event, I had completely forgotten—but it gave my husband and me one more special reason to celebrate, making this a truly memorable trip. As we stayed for two nights, we borrowed a vase during our stay and displayed it with care. However, as I couldn’t carry it with me on the last day, I reluctantly decided to leave the rose behind. I’m sorry that your thoughtful gesture went to waste. Thanks to you, we had a wonderful trip to Kobe. Thank you very much. The Room and hallways were spacious, and the lobby shared the same design as Hotel Okura in Tokyo. Surrounded by the reassuring atmosphere of such a long-established hotel, we were able to relax deeply. Also, at the shopping arcade, I unexpectedly found and purchased a painting by an artist I love—so I was delighted to be able to bring home a lasting memory of this trip. Just one small thing: since you kindly serve warmed French toast at the breakfast buffet, I felt it would look nicer on slightly larger plates. The current size may be convenient for those who try many items and want an easy-to-carry tray setup, but to me it made the delicious French toast look a bit less special. To be honest, I wanted to order French toast breakfast via room service; however, since I joined my husband who wanted the buffet—and French toast was all that was on my mind—I may have felt that way because of it. I apologize for sharing an unnecessary comment; overall, from the bottom of my heart I'm glad we chose your hotel. We would love to stay with you again if we have another opportunity.     To celebrate a retirement.

    Asuka II happened to be docked at Meriken Park, and I was overwhelmed by its size. I stayed here noting it was to celebrate my retirement, but the seat I was shown to for breakfast was in a corner by the wall, far from the food, and nothing special.

    We had a great time.

    I stayed during the Luminarie season. The bus connections were good, so getting around was easy. From the Hotel Room, I could see the paid Luminarie light installations, and the night view was beautiful. The toilet door is right next to the bed, so noise might be a concern, but it can’t be helped. Breakfast included local specialty dishes and was delicious. On the second day, a large group of guests arrived at once, but they let us take the elevator first. I would like to stay again.

    As expected from a f...

    As expected from a first-class hotel. Although it is an old accommodation, it is well-maintained and very comfortable. All the staff provided excellent service and hospitality. Thank you for arranging a high-floor room for us. The view of the Port Tower right in front was beautiful. When the hotel first opened, I saw one of the staff members on TV who seemed nervous or perhaps new, and their wording was a bit off, but seeing their earnest effort made me want to stay here someday. This time, my dream came true by staying here. Thank you for creating such wonderful memories for us!

    Amazing Bed Mattress

    When I lay on the bed, the mattress felt hard, almost like a thin mattress placed directly on the floor. I was surprised when I lifted the mattress cover to find that not only was the mattress thin, but underneath it was a hard board, and below that was storage space for a third bed. Although my reservation was for a single room, it seemed to be set up as a triple room. I'm not sure if regular double or twin rooms have the same type of beds, but I was shocked that Hotel Okura uses such beds. Nowadays, even business hotels use Simmons beds, so this was disappointing. It took me a long time to fall asleep, and by morning my back hurt terribly.

    It was comfortable.

    The Facility is old but well-maintained and comfortable. The garden was also beautiful. It is conveniently located within walking distance to Meriken Park. The breakfast buffet could have had more variety. The route from the parking lot to the front of the Hotel was a bit confusing, and I got slightly lost.

    You can always stay with peace of mind.

    It was a pleasure to stay here again after a long time, and it was very comfortable. Although I couldn't relax much as it was just a short stay before heading to Tokyo, it truly felt like staying at Okura. It would have been perfect if the bath and toilet were separate...     I usually stay as a One Harmony member, but I chose this plan because it was exceptionally affordable. As always, the staff's hospitality was polite, but the renovated room's bathroom amenities were almost nonexistent (I had to call to get a shower cap delivered, which made me think even a Business Hotel might be better in this regard). Additionally, items like hand towels and tissue boxes were no longer provided—something that is almost always standard in any hotel—which felt inconvenient. The bathrobe, which is typically available in deluxe rooms or higher categories, was also missing and had to be requested by phone. After the renovation, one would expect improvements for convenience and usability; however, the specifications of this accommodation remain puzzling. As an elegant accommodation I frequently use throughout the year, I can't help but feel perplexed every time I stay here. The tempura dinner was as excellent as ever—absolutely delicious. The breakfast buffet was crowded as usual; being someone who dislikes buffets in general, I found it tiresome once again.

    The view was beautiful.

    Although we checked in late, as soon as we entered the Room and opened the window, the charming illuminations across the shore immediately caught our eye. The Hotel's illuminated shrubbery and Christmas tree were also splendid. After 8 PM, colorful drone illuminations began on the south side of the Hotel, and we enjoyed watching them from our east-facing window with excitement. In the morning, we experienced seeing a sunrise over the ocean for the first time and were deeply moved by the beauty of shimmering waves and sunlight. The Room was very quiet, allowing us to relax comfortably.

    I had a relaxing time.

    I stayed alone for the first time in a while in Kobe. I was given a west-facing Room as requested, and I enjoyed a relaxing time with views of the Port Tower and Ferris wheel. For breakfast, I ordered French toast through room service and was very satisfied. It seems to be limited in quantity at the café, but I discovered that ordering it via room service guarantees availability, so I'm glad I did!

    A bit disappointing

    The Facility is getting old, but the service is top-notch. It’s a good Hotel with a reasonable rate. However: - Housekeeping noise: The cleaning noise from the neighboring Room was extremely loud, almost as if they were banging on the walls repeatedly. I wanted to focus on work, so this was very disappointing. - Smart TV issues: The compatibility between Google TV and in-room WiFi was poor, causing frequent disconnections and making it difficult to watch anything properly. This fails to function as a proper Facility feature. The rate was fair, and I would like to stay again; however, the above points were unfortunate.

    Comfortable Room

    Every corner is sparkling clean, with no fog on the glass or mirrors. The carpet feels soft underfoot and is easy to walk on. The guest rooms are spacious and comfortable, allowing for a relaxing stay. Truly worthy of the name Hotel Okura—an excellent hotel. However, when I was arranging luggage delivery upon departure, an incident occurred. The female staff member assisting me was very polite and made me feel at ease during our interaction. Suddenly, an older male staff member wearing glasses interrupted us and started asking her about something unrelated to my request. Another female staff member nearby quickly stepped in to assist with my luggage arrangements instead, but even then—and afterward—the male staff continued pressuring the original female staff behind the counter in full view of guests like myself. I was quite shocked by this behavior. Wouldn't it be standard practice for him to greet me as a guest first, excuse himself politely, and move their discussion out of sight? I was very surprised that such behavior could occur at Hotel Okura and found it disappointing as my final impression. That said, all other staff members were courteous and professional throughout my stay. Thank you for your excellent service overall! The location is also convenient; I would definitely consider staying here again when visiting Kobe.

    The elevator noise is loud.

    I stayed in a sea-facing room on a high floor for a multiple night stay. The view was excellent, but the noise from the elevators cutting through the wind was so loud that I could hardly sleep. There are six guest elevators and three staff elevators, which operate continuously, causing frequent noise. When I stayed here previously on a mid-floor level, I don't recall being bothered by such noises. It was also a sea-facing room—could the location have made a difference? The room was renovated in 2025 and looked clean, but the bathroom remained an old unit bath and was very inconvenient to use. Additionally, there were no hand towels provided, which are usually standard.

    About Cleaning

    As a long-established Hotel, the rooms and Facility are old but highly reliable, and the front desk staff were exceptionally kind. However, the cleanliness of the rooms was disappointing. Various areas were dirty and not thoroughly cleaned, which was unpleasant. Additionally, rooms not facing Meriken Park felt lackluster. Next time, I would like to try a different restaurant as well.

    A memorable and happy stay in Kobe.

    I stayed with my elderly parents, both over 80 years old. I chose Okura after much consideration, looking for a Room, bed, and hospitality that would allow us to experience the essence of Kobe while providing a restful stay for both body and mind. The result was perfect. The vibrant flower arrangements at the entrance and the paintings in the lobby greeted us warmly, bringing big smiles to my parents' faces. The view from the window was stunning, and we enjoyed strolling around Meriken Park and Motomachi. The location was very convenient, making it easy to explore the city efficiently. The shuttle bus from Shin-Kobe was also extremely convenient. All the staff who assisted us, whether with shipping packages or purchasing sweets, were incredibly kind and made our stay pleasant. Although we thought this would be our first and last visit to Kobe, my mother surprised me by saying, "Let's come back again," which made me very happy as her daughter. We stayed in a triple Room with one extra bed, but it was perfectly comfortable!

    Hospitality, service, and breakfast—everything is highly satisfying.

    Although I checked in around 9 PM, several staff members immediately greeted me at the front desk and offered support as soon as I looked around. The exceptional hospitality here is truly unmatched. I was looking forward to breakfast, and every ingredient was fresh and delicious, making me stay longer than expected. While I initially thought the Facility might be old, the interior was beautifully renovated, offering a blend of traditional charm and elegance for an enjoyable experience. One minor inconvenience is the limited number of power outlets compared to modern Business Hotels; however, this was more than compensated by the spacious Room and comfortable bed that made me want to extend my stay. Thank you for your hospitality!

    The front desk staff...

    The front desk staff and all the other staff members we met at the Hotel were very kind, which made us feel at ease and relieved our travel fatigue. The breakfast was enjoyable with a great view, offering a variety of Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes to choose from. Thank you very much.

    Everything was ruined by the front desk and porter at check-in.

    I apologize, but the service quality has lowered my satisfaction. The main issue lies with the Hotel front desk and porter during check-in. At check-in, the front desk staff was looking down and occupied with something, failing to notice me limping across the spacious lobby until prompted by the porter’s “Please assist.” It was past 5 PM; though I could walk, I was visibly tired from the day. Moving slowly for my age while swaying my shoulders and head due to fatigue, I approached not directly in front of the desk but closer to an entrance area intending to fill out forms there. I informed them of my name and Reservation site. However, perhaps not realizing that I had difficulty walking at first glance, they set up a form directly in front of their station saying “Please fill it out here.” At that moment, feeling disappointed that they couldn’t notice such details visually on their own made me hesitant about expressing myself clearly. Unable to confidently say something like "My feet hurt; may I write here instead?"—I ended up moving without protest which might have been a mistake on my part. Later when being guided by another porter carrying luggage towards my Room—they briefly glanced back once yet didn’t seem aware enough about how much slower or differently paced (due-to-limp) movement occurred behind them thus continued walking briskly ahead unfaltered pace-wise. Both instances left impressions where attentiveness could’ve resolved matters better leading toward lessened disappointment overall despite personal communication shortcomings potentially contributing too alongside circumstances involved therein... Having frequented Hotel Okura Kobe since over thirty-five years ago whenever visiting Kobe city itself albeit fewer-than-ten stays total lifetime-wise—always previously satisfied especially regarding exceptional services rendered fondly remembered nostalgically speaking—it saddens greatly seeing standards seemingly decline comparatively nowadays unfortunately observed firsthand recent experience     First Trip to Kobe

    I stayed with my daughter at the accommodation. After making the reservation, I learned about the availability of separate pajamas and inquired via email about them and a hair iron. I received a prompt reply stating that they would be prepared in our room. From the moment we entered the entrance, it was easy to approach the staff as they made eye contact with us. When we arrived early and asked to leave our luggage, they handled it smoothly without any wait. The shuttle bus had frequent services, so we used it multiple times to get to Sannomiya, which was very helpful during hot weather. Breakfast was delicious with enjoyable fruits and sweets, as well as fresh vegetables from Awaji Island. On our second day, a staff member who assisted us on the first day remembered us and greeted us warmly with "Hello" and "Good morning!" It felt very friendly and left an unforgettable memory of our trip. Despite being in a different venue on each day and meeting many guests daily, their attention impressed me greatly. They also casually spoke to us when leaving the venue (the food rating is 4 because although the first day's venue faced a garden view, unfortunately, we were seated inside). The view of Kobe Port from our room was stunning both in the morning and at night; enjoying this changing scenery added to our sense of relaxation during travel. Throughout various areas within the hotel, interactions with staff felt perfectly balanced—providing reassurance during our stay away from home. Thanks to this experience, we had an enjoyable trip!

    Thank you for the wonderful time and space!

    The Hotel had a wonderful atmosphere, and I was able to relax and enjoy my stay. Both the Hotel staff and the convenience store staff were very friendly. I wanted to try the restaurant, but it was too expensive, so I decided against it—what a pity. The shuttle bus was convenient as it provided direct access from the bullet train station to the Hotel, making for a comfortable journey. The cityscape visible from the shuttle bus was also beautiful. Since the shuttle bus operates only on weekends and holidays, I'm not sure if I'll be able to use it next time, but I would love to take advantage of it again if possible. With check-out at 12:00 PM, I could take my time in the morning. My Room was upgraded as well, so I made sure to relax until just before check-out time. The night view from my Room on the mountain side was beautiful—I could have gazed at it forever! From there, I even saw some bikers riding along the highway. I would love to stay here again in the future—thank you very much!
