    Delicious cuisine and clean rooms

    Delicious fusion cuisine made with plenty of local ingredients from Wakayama. The Room was clean and well-maintained, allowing for a comfortable and relaxing stay.

    I felt so relaxed.

    Attention to detail was excellent, making for a very pleasant stay. Both the meals and the bath were satisfying. If I had to mention one downside, it would be that the hairdryer lacked sufficient power.

    Thank you for upgrad...

    Thank you for upgrading our Room to a suite. The bathroom was equipped with a ReFa hair dryer, etc., and after using it, my hair became silky smooth! We toasted with the wine you prepared, making it a wonderful memory. All the staff were kind and made us feel great. Thank you very much!

    First Family Trip Across Three Generations

    This was our second stay at Koga no I Resort and our first trip with three generations together. From the phone support before arrival to the warm welcome, front desk service, and dining staff, every interaction was exceptional. We had specific requests such as arranging three rooms side by side and setting up a Hollywood twin bed due to having infants in our group. These were perfectly accommodated, and they even provided a diaper disposal bin upon noticing we had a baby with us—truly thoughtful service. The dinner and breakfast offered a wide variety of delicious options. The freshly prepared dishes like meat, tempura, sushi, and rice balls were especially delightful. However, despite the large number of tables available, the food area felt slightly cramped at times with frequent lines forming. The public bath had just the right water temperature. The open-air bath without a roof provided an incredible sense of openness; bathing with my grandchild while feeling the breeze was an unforgettable experience—we could have stayed there forever (playing). It was my first Saturday stay in decades, so I was surprised by how crowded it was. However, thanks to the excellent management by staff at both reception and dining areas, we never felt uncomfortable throughout our stay.

    The smell is a bit...

    Upon arrival at the Hotel, I was informed that dinner and breakfast were only available at specific times, which felt inconvenient as there were no options to choose from. I decided to head to the Room and was surprised by the strong smell of tobacco in the hallway. The Room itself wasn’t as bad, but it still made me feel slightly nauseous. After opening the window for some fresh air, it became somewhat bearable. In hindsight, I should have requested a Room change at the front desk, but instead, I canceled my second night through IKYU.com. The Room was spacious with a great view. The meals were delicious, and the restaurant staff left a positive impression with their kindness. If not for the tobacco smell, I would have stayed for my second night as planned; however, this led me to decide on changing Hotels instead.

    It was a very lovely Hotel.

    It was a very lovely Hotel. The buffet was highly satisfying, and my sons absolutely loved it. However, it was unfortunate that some seats in the buffet area were dimly lit, and our family ended up at one of those seats, making it hard to see the food clearly. Additionally, we stayed in a Japanese-style room, but the noise from the floor above was quite bothersome. While this might be due to structural reasons, I hope improvements can be made regarding the dimly lit seating during meals.

    Ocean View

    We stayed as a couple. The room was spacious and comfortable. The Shirahama Onsen water suited us very well, and it was our first time experiencing the standing bath in the open-air onsen, where we could also sit on the step at the entrance. Both dinner and breakfast were enjoyable with the live kitchen experience. Unlike other hotels where sashimi is often piled up buffet-style, here each plate was thoughtfully prepared, and pasta was freshly made each time—there was no sense of cutting corners, which we appreciated greatly. For breakfast, while many hotels simply place large trays of omelets out for guests to serve themselves, this hotel prepared fresh rolled omelets (dashimaki tamago) on-site. It was so popular that there were lines forming to get them—and they were delicious! In the evening, there were illuminations in the garden that added a special touch to our stay. Additionally, although many staff members were from overseas, they provided excellent service. Most of the guests appeared to be Japanese and behaved respectfully in shared spaces like the lobby, baths, and dining areas—making for a pleasant atmosphere overall. Unlike some other famous four-star hotels that can feel chaotic due to large tour groups or noisy environments, this hotel offered a calm and relaxing experience—a truly wonderful accommodation!

    I use it every year.

    Every time I visit Shirahama, I always stay here. The reliable service gives me peace of mind, and the meals are delicious. I enjoy relaxing in the bath multiple times, and the cleanliness of the changing rooms ensures a pleasant experience.

    This was our second ...

    This was our second stay after seven years. This summer was extremely hot, so we made a reservation after the summer holidays to enjoy swimming in the pool. The building is not new, but it is well-maintained and clean overall. Both the pool and onsen are simple in design but provide a relaxing atmosphere. We were able to use the outdoor pool even before check-in, and later in the evening, we moved to the indoor pool. The outdoor pool becomes shaded in the afternoon, making it pleasantly cool without being too hot. The terrace by the indoor pool was also very relaxing. The deep-water onsen is a family favorite; although it doesn't offer spectacular views, it somehow feels incredibly soothing and relaxing. I used the spa services and enjoyed a detoxifying sesame oil massage. Meals were served buffet-style this time as well, but they felt more satisfying than before with many small portions of various dishes that tasted better than I remembered. Our room accommodated four of us—myself, my husband, and our university- and high school-aged daughters—and while I expected it to feel cramped, it was spacious enough with proper beds instead of extra ones; we all slept comfortably. A smartphone charger was conveniently provided by each bedside as well! While there are more luxurious hotels out there, this accommodation offers excellent value for money with satisfaction exceeding expectations—I would love to make this my regular stay!

    Excellent!

    At check-in, I saw a young male staff member hang up the internal phone in frustration, saying "annoying!" which scared me. I'm sure he's a good person, but perhaps he was too busy and overwhelmed. It's unfortunate because it's such a great Hotel otherwise. The older male staff member at check-out was extremely friendly and polite. The meals were of high quality and absolutely excellent. The bath towels were fluffy as well. The view from the Room was wonderful. The illuminations were also lovely. It turned out to be an enjoyable family trip. Thank you very much!

    It was excellent!

    It was our first trip with our 0-year-old and 2-year-old daughters, and we were nervous, but thanks to Koganoi Resort Hotel, we were able to create such wonderful memories! We had some concerns before the trip and called several times with inquiries, but the staff always responded kindly, allowing us to prepare thoroughly and visit with peace of mind. There were many guests with babies, and all the staff members were friendly, making it a very family-friendly accommodation! We would love to stay here again. Even after returning home, my husband and I keep saying how glad we are that our first trip was at Koganoi Resort Hotel. We look forward to staying here again when we visit Shirahama!

    Highly Satisfied

    The Onsen and meals were very satisfying. I also thought the staff's service was excellent. However, it was a bit disappointing that the room's air conditioning couldn't be adjusted.

    A well-balanced and excellent Hotel

    The scenery, meals, and hospitality are excellent, and while the Facility is slightly aged, it remains clean. The large public bath includes a high-temperature sauna and cold bath for women. It is a very good Hotel.

    As expected, the food at the Hotel was delicious.

    I revisited this accommodation as I remembered the high quality of the buffet from my previous stay, while looking for a last-minute place to stay after my weekend plans were canceled. Arriving before 2 PM to use the indoor and outdoor pools, we first went to the outdoor pool. However, I found it slightly inconvenient for families with small children due to the narrow changing rooms and having to climb stairs from inside the facility. While the convenience of amenities like a jacuzzi, night pool, and an indoor pool connected to a large bath was excellent, I felt that a layout allowing easier access between indoor and outdoor areas would be ideal. For dinner, we enjoyed fresh sashimi and sushi made with tuna from Wakayama Prefecture; they were exceptionally delicious. There was also a new wall-mounted donut display for children that added satisfaction to our experience. However, I was concerned about two points: firstly, steak from the live kitchen was tough and greasy; secondly, when foreign staff accidentally broke a glass nearby causing shards to scatter near my child’s feet, there was no acknowledgment or communication towards us as they quietly cleaned up. On another note though, other staff members greeted us warmly with smiles which reflected good hospitality—this aspect could be reviewed further. Lastly in our room itself Wi-Fi connectivity often failed making improvements necessary regarding network environment quality overall!

    It was my first stay...

    It was my first stay in a while, and since it was right after the summer holidays, the pool and other facilities were not crowded. The renovations in various areas also made for a pleasant experience. The meals at the Japanese restaurant were especially excellent, and the staff's service was outstanding. The price was reasonable, and overall, I was very satisfied. (A minor note: I noticed some fraying on part of the sofa.)

    It was a short-stay ...

    It was a short-stay Plan, but we were allowed to check in at 3 PM with the condition of having dinner from 5 PM. The meals for both breakfast and dinner had a wide variety and were delicious, leaving us very satisfied. However, since the dining time was limited to 90 minutes and our table was far from the food area, there was a long line at the live kitchen for tempura and sushi. If we had more time, we could have enjoyed our meal more leisurely—that's my only regret. Other than that, the bath was great with both semi-open-air and open-air options. The Room was spacious with beautiful views, which made it very enjoyable. The light-up display was also wonderful! I would love to visit again!

    This is my second stay.

    We chose this accommodation to celebrate a companion's birthday because of the high quality of the meals and onsen. It was their first stay, and they were amazed by the exceptional quality of the food. We ended up eating too much both in the morning and evening (laughs). The onsen was also fantastic, with great views from the open-air bath, leaving us completely satisfied. It became a memorable trip. They said they definitely want to come back again, so it's a confirmed repeat!

    Room Types and Dinner

    The photos of the room posted were misleading. I booked the corner suite because the photos showed a direct ocean view from the balcony, but based on the room layout, it seemed odd. When I asked the hotel, they said it’s not completely invisible but not as shown in the pictures. I requested a room change on-site, but they said they couldn’t confirm availability at that moment. Luckily, I found an actual ocean-view room myself and switched to it, but false photo representation should be avoided. Considering the location, rooms without a proper ocean view should be clearly stated. Also, reviews mentioned that buffet meals were delicious; however, this was far from true and very disappointing. The steak was tough, and sashimi only included tuna and sea bream with mediocre taste. There wasn’t much to eat overall—this might be acceptable for a budget hotel—but for a mid-range hotel like this one, it felt subpar.

    I made a reservation because the reviews were good, but I found the meal flow to be very poor. With only 90 minutes and such a crowd, I couldn't enjoy my meal at ease. I was disappointed.

    Last-Minute Discount with Dinner and Breakfast Included

    Last-minute discount offers affordable stays with excellent service! The dinner buffet was outstanding! The tuna and sea bream sashimi were incredibly fresh and delicious! Other dishes were also delightful. Can't wait to visit again!

    A scenic view with a sense of openness and Onsen

    The distance from the room to the Onsen may be inconvenient for those with mobility issues. The restaurant is very crowded, but it offers freshly fried tempura, pasta, Mehari sushi, Nanko plums, Wakayama ramen, and other local specialties that were delicious. The harbor-side view and the spacious and open Onsen were excellent in both the indoor bath and outdoor standing bath. It is a hotel suitable for families and groups with good cost performance.

    This time, we decided to go out on a sudden whim just before the Obon holiday.

    Before the Obon holiday, I was looking for a reasonable accommodation with a pool and onsen. I found this hotel with availability and booked a slightly special plan (check-in at 4:00 PM - check-out at 10:00 AM). We arrived at the hotel in the early afternoon, enjoyed the pool and onsen right away, and checked in around 3:40 PM. Our luggage had already been delivered to our room, which was a spacious ocean-view room that exceeded our expectations. The delicious meals, illuminations, and other events were also very enjoyable. Next time, I would like to visit during an off-peak season with my daughter’s family and grandchildren. Thank you very much!

    Everything exceeded expectations.

    During the summer vacation season, I was very pleased to stay in a quiet Room. The only downside was the stink bug smell in the Room, but that was it. The customer service was not unpleasant at all. The seasonal sale hamo dish was delicious, and many of the less noticeable dishes were also tasty. The salt-grilled ayu fish was delicious as well. The garlic shrimp was also very tasty; it would have been even better if served piping hot—though I understand it's challenging. The bath area had towels provided, which made things very convenient. Thank you!

    A Fun Time with Your Daughter's Family

    Joined my daughter's family in Tokyo for our first stay. Enjoyed playing in the pool and relaxing in the spacious bath. Dinner was a Japanese Kaiseki meal, which exceeded expectations and was absolutely satisfying. Since the hotel is located on a hill, we were mesmerized by the stunning view of the crimson sunset and Shirahama sea through large windows. After dinner, we took a stroll while admiring the illuminations—choosing Koganoi Hotel was definitely the right decision!

    The service was excellent.

    I appreciated the thoughtful gestures, such as being guided to a parking spot close to the entrance due to my condition requiring a cane, and being seated at a table in the dining area that minimized walking distance for carrying food. A wagon was also prepared, which was very helpful. The room was spacious and comfortable; however, I noticed an ammonia smell in the toilet. The bathtub was generously sized, which I liked, but there were drainage issues—when draining water after use, it overflowed from the pipe beside the tub and flooded the bathroom floor, causing some panic. Overall, I think this is a great accommodation. Thank you for your hospitality.
