Ryokan Onomichi Nishiyama stands in Onomichi, a historic hub where people, goods, information, and culture have long converged. Six detached villas with eight guest rooms are arranged around a spacious garden overlooking the Seto Inland Sea. Preserving the best of traditional Japanese culture while adding modern comfort, we blend classic and contemporary design. With deep respect for tradition, we strive to create a place of relaxation and connection for a new era.

Six detached villas with eight guest rooms encircle a spacious garden overlooking the Seto Inland Sea. The main building offers three rooms, refined in understated simplicity. Under the supervision of master temple carpenters, rare fittings that can no longer be reproduced have been carefully polished and preserved. Bathrooms and other water facilities have been renewed for cleanliness, and each room is prepared for restful sleep with premium bedding.

Captivated by the Setouchi region’s ingredients and the thought, “Something truly wonderful can be found so close to home,” we have revived the heartfelt spirit of a former tea plantation in a new style of hospitality. Using the ingredients that moved us most that day, we create one-of-a-kind dishes finished in our open kitchen—each encounter a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Like a tea host, we face each guest, share words, and create a moment of togetherness. It is also our joy to connect guests—through our cuisine—to the stories behind each ingredient and to the people who produce them.
