All rooms offer ocean views and a private open-air bath—an inspiring new retreat where timeless tradition meets modern comfort, surrounded by breathtaking scenery and the soothing sound of the waves.
Reborn on November 1, 2025 as a small luxury Accommodation where every Room offers an ocean view and a free-flowing natural hot-spring open-air bath. Beyond the rising steam lies the horizon of Eastern Izu, where sea and sky melt into one. Listen to the soothing surf, and on moonlit nights a magical “Moon Road” appears on the water. A renowned hot spring—300 liters per minute from two private sources—gently relaxes both body and mind. “Japanese cuisine of sea and time,” reflecting Izu’s climate and memories. Crafted by our head chef, trained at long-established restaurants, and paired with Sommelier Excellence–selected wines and local sake to deepen the lingering finish. Complimentary in-room dining made possible with just 16 Rooms—timeless new luxury unique to nostalgic Atagawa.
I was able to spend a truly relaxing and luxurious time. From the moment we arrived at the entrance until departure, every staff member we encountered was courteous and warmly welcoming, which made us feel very comfortable. On the second day, we requested eco-friendly housekeeping, and we were grateful for how efficiently they prepared a pleasant environment. The spacious open-air bath was wonderful, with a refreshing sea breeze—it was simply the best. They also told us the sunrise time, so soaking in the morning bath while watching Oshima Island and the rising sun left an especially strong impression. Both dinner and breakfast featuring local ingredients were delicious, and we also enjoyed the beautiful presentation. The explanations of the wine and dishes were fascinating as well. Room service was easy to use.I would definitely like to visit again.
The moment I stepped into the Hotel, I felt a nostalgic escape from everyday life, surrounded by the beautiful sea and tasteful 1970s-inspired interiors. The Room made me feel even closer to the ocean—sitting on a chair on the spacious terrace, gazing at the sparkling horizon and taking a deep breath. A true retreat. The refrigerator was stocked with carefully selected items such as bottled straight fruit juice, local beer and milk, drip coffee, and Japanese black tea—and room service was also free of charge. I was also soothed by the fragrance of the high-quality amenities. The in-Room bath was fed directly from the hot spring source, with an ocean view right in front of me. It was so spacious that even stretching out my legs couldn’t reach—beautifully designed, and truly the best I’ve ever experienced. Meals featured fresh seafood with delicate seasoning, and we were able to enjoy them slowly alongside attentive, heartfelt service. The next morning our whole family felt great—I think this is a wonderful Hotel worth staying at for its own sake.

Nostalgic Luxury
Nostalgic Luxury Atagawa Onsen, where time lingers. Nostalgia awakens a new sensibility. A distant horizon that feels eternal, and the sound of waves echoing through the mountains, accompany moments of quiet. 16 guest rooms: ocean-view rooms with open-air baths and free-flowing natural hot spring water Izu Retreat Atagawa Suiko by OKCS (Onko Chishin)

The Higashi-Izu Atagawa Onsen area boasts the highest number of Onsen drilling towers per unit of land in Japan, creating an atmospheric hot spring town where steam rises into the air. The “Moon Road,” a shimmering path of moonlight reflected on the sea on full-moon nights, has also been selected as one of Japan’s “100 Finest Moons,” captivating travelers for generations. In Atagawa, the nostalgic charm of a traditional hot spring town blends with the calm ambience of a seaside community—and that timeless appeal still lives on today. We believe that the “richness” found in familiarity and time spent with care can be a true form of luxury in modern life. With today’s sensibilities, we reexamine Atagawa’s original allure and share it with thoughtful attention.

Every room features a private open-air Onsen bath with free-flowing hot spring water, allowing you to fully enjoy the unique charm of Atagawa, a seaside hot spring town filled with the sound of the waves.

Enjoy an abundant supply of hot spring water from two private sources. The spring quality is known as the “Miracle Hot Spring,” said to have healed the wounds of Ota Dokan, a famed samurai warlord known for building Edo Castle in the Muromachi period.

With the theme of “Japanese cuisine of the sea and time that awakens memories of Izu,” we carefully weave together Izu’s ingredients and the passion of its producers to present dishes that blend nostalgia with a sense of newness.
