Shamisen and egg over rice are the best.

As soon as we arrived, the sound of the shamisen resonated throughout the building, and the stage and performer inside matched perfectly, which was truly breathtaking. The dinner was accompanied by detailed explanations for each dish, the service was excellent, and the portions were so generous that we couldn't finish them. The main meat dish was marbled, very tender, and delicious. We were grateful that they accommodated our various requests. The egg over rice in the morning was exquisite. Each serving was carefully prepared, making it worth eating. You can be moved with just one bite. However, there was one point of concern: the dirt on the window sills in the room bothered me. When I opened the shoji to see the view, the sills seemed to have clearly been forgotten during cleaning, which was disappointing. I think it would be more comfortable if face towels and bath towels were also provided in the large public bath. Anyway, thank you for the memorable trip.

I came to love Aizu through Okawaso.

Despite being a large ryokan, the service was very attentive. I was able to experience the beauty of Aizu's traditions. Each dish was prepared with such care, which was astonishing. It was very delicious. And above all, the spectacular view from the room! It made me want to see the scenery of each season.

    An inn rich in emotion

The view of the valley from the room and bathroom was breathtaking. I stayed on a lower floor, but since it connects to the valley, it felt like I was looking out from about the 10th floor. There were also two bathrooms, including an open-air bath, and the view from there was also great. It was rumored to resemble the Infinity Castle of the demon boss in Demon Slayer, and indeed it did. There was someone playing the koto. It was an emotional and wonderful inn. The shuttle service was also well-organized.

    I was able to relax.

We were greeted with smiles, enjoyed a pleasant bath, and had a relaxing time with a delightful meal. Thanks to the staff member who served us dinner, it became a memorable trip. Thank you very much.

    I recommend it.

I stayed here because it is said to be the inspiration for the Infinity Castle in Demon Slayer. I was very satisfied with the shamisen performance. The meals and hot springs were excellent, but I gave it 4 stars because there were few outlets in the room. It was a hotel I could recommend to friends!

An inn known for its open-air baths and cuisine.

Okawaso is a ryokan that stands out in Ashinomaki Onsen. Although it is a luxury ryokan, the accommodation fees are surprisingly reasonable. Especially when four people share a room, it becomes quite a bargain. On the other hand, staying as a couple on weekends can be quite expensive, as the rooms are limited to twin rooms. I recommend couples avoid weekends. On weekdays, more affordable rooms are available for two people. The highlights are undoubtedly the luxurious lobby, the large public bath, and the meals. The view from the open-air bath is truly relaxing. There is also a stone sauna, so you can enjoy just the bath. The level of the cuisine is above standard, but this depends on your budget. With cheaper plans, meals are served in the large dining hall, and while the quality of the food is above its price, it might not be very relaxing. On the other hand, plans that use private dining rooms offer a much higher level of dining, and you can enjoy your meal in peace. There are several levels of private dining plans, but even the basic private dining plan should be satisfying. Breakfast is limited to a buffet style in the large dining hall, but it is filled with ingredients typical of Aizu, and you can enjoy it thoroughly. Several types of bread are available, so you can have a Western-style meal, but I encourage you to try the simple Aizu-style Japanese breakfast. I am sure you will be satisfied. The staff is friendly yet polite. The building is old, but with renovations, the open-air bath, and the private dining plan, it will be a very satisfying stay. I think this is the only choice for accommodation in Ashinomaki Onsen.

I have noted my dissatisfaction points.

This was my first time staying here. I had high expectations because of the good reviews, which might be why I found several disappointing aspects. First, regarding the transportation of luggage to the room, they still use COVID-19 as a reason to make guests transport their luggage with a cart. For about the past two years, many hotels I've stayed at have asked guests if they want assistance, and those who do can have their luggage carried for them. There were no towels in the bathroom, so I had to bring towels and bath towels from my room. There is a bag for towels in the room, but it's small, and when you put a bath towel and a towel in it, it's full, and there's no room for underwear. I prefer to use a dry bath towel, so I would like at least a bath towel to be placed in the bathroom. When I look outside the room, the first thing I notice is a large amount of swallow droppings outside the room. There was a note on the window explaining that there is a swallow's nest, but it still feels unclean. You also have to take the necessary amenities from beside the front desk. It feels like a cheap business hotel. The breakfast buffet had a limited selection. And so on. The good points were the service of the dinner attendant, the shamisen performance on the floating stage, and the fact that my daughter, who loves "Demon Slayer," was happy. If it were a cheap hot spring inn, it would be understandable, but personally, I question whether it is worth the price.

    It was a blissful moment.

I was able to fully enjoy my trip after a long time. Starting with the welcome of wind chimes, I passed by the rumored Infinite Castle, washed away my sweat in the large public bath, and spent a graceful time drinking coffee in the lounge while listening to shamisen performances until dinner. I thought about having a beer in the lounge as well, but I saved it for enjoyment after dinner. The dinner far exceeded my expectations, with detailed explanations of the dishes, and all the staff were kind, making every moment a blissful experience.

    Tohoku Trip

I checked in late and couldn't listen to the live shamisen performance, but I felt that the atmosphere and service of the inn were top-notch. I would like to visit again if I have the chance.

    A hospitality inn

I stayed in the Yoi Machitei 622 room with a dinner and breakfast plan from Thursday, July 11th. It was only a one-night stay, but it was such a wonderful inn that made me wish I could stay for 3 to 4 days and relax. What impressed me the most was the staff's hospitality. The building and location were also amazing! But the most comfortable aspect was definitely the professional and hospitable service from everyone. As soon as we arrived, we were naturally guided to the parking lot, and the front desk staff explained everything clearly and politely. The staff who attended to us during dinner were also very kind. The exterior has a slightly retro feel, but once inside, it was really clean, and I felt that they maintain it properly without cutting corners. The Yoi Machitei room was also very clean, and the view from the window was truly breathtaking. To have found this location, built this building here, and maintained this level of hospitality is truly amazing. I am grateful to all the staff. I had some information from rumors and the website beforehand, but it doesn't convey everything at all. I think it's an inn that you should definitely visit and experience for yourself.

I was enticed by the new plan and decided to book a freshly prepared dinner course. It was described as something to savor carefully, but the quality was mediocre. It felt more like a course meant for groups. Both the seating and the taste of the meal were lacking compared to the authentic Japanese courses I've had before. I've stayed here many times, but this time was the most disappointing.

The open-air bath in the sky was a good workout in the morning. It might be impossible as I get older.

    Comfort Twin

I stayed in a Comfort Twin room. The room was very clean and came with a bath tote. I used all the hot spring facilities including the open-air bath, indoor bath, sauna, and the sky open-air bath. Both the hot springs and sauna were very nice. It was a bit disappointing that the view from the sky open-air bath was obstructed by scaffolding due to construction. Dinner was plentiful, but since I can't eat a lot, I wish there was an option to upgrade the ingredients for a smaller menu. Breakfast was a buffet with a wide variety of options. The staff were all pleasant. However, it was unfortunate that there was no explanation about the amenities at the front desk. I thought the amenities were not provided based on reviews, but there were cleansing products, face wash, lotion, and emulsion on the shelf next to the front desk. The shamisen performance was also wonderful.

Some parts of the facility were old, but the overall satisfaction was high.

The room offered a view of the mountain stream, and both the hot spring and private dining were excellent. The price was reasonable, and the service was attentive, making me want to visit again.

I used this accommodation for my first trip to Fukushima. It was a very lovely inn. There was just one thing that bothered me a little: the floor at the entrance of the large public bath was slippery, and I had to step on it to get out, which was a bit concerning after getting clean. Other than that one point, the meals, service, and the cleanliness of the building were all excellent, and I was very satisfied with my stay. I'm glad I went. I made some great memories.
