Exceeded expectations; the bath was fantastic.
My child loves “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” and said they wanted to stay here, so we decided to give it a try. The building is old, and at first glance I thought, “Uh… did we make a mistake?” But the moment you step inside, everything changes—exactly as imagined. Just like Instagram. There was a shamisen performance going on, and the musician kept playing the whole time—sitting in seiza with perfect posture. Of course the performance itself was excellent; “amazing” is the only word for it. My child even cheekily said, “Not even a hint of pitch drift—so impressive.” What moved me most was the Onsen. It had been a while since an open-air bath impressed me this much—I ended up soaking for ages. The only scary part was having to go down wet stairs barefoot. But once you get down there, it’s worth it—being able to soak in that open-air bath makes it all worthwhile. The disappointing part was being shown to dinner. Even when we went to the restaurant there was no reception desk, no one waiting, and we stood there for over five minutes until someone finally walked by. When I asked an attendant, they told us to sit and wait—then another 15 minutes passed. After that I (a bit angrily) stopped someone again and we were finally seated. Our Room attendant was cheerful and wonderful, which completely changed my mood—but if not for them I would have stayed upset. At breakfast our attendant from last night spoke to us again; I think each staff member is very kind individually. Since dinner times are fixed, I feel staffing could be arranged a bit better. The food was very delicious and we enjoyed it—but there’s a lot of it. We couldn’t finish everything. We even enjoyed dessert as well. Also, drinks are inexpensive so you may end up drinking too much. As for the Room: you can’t deny how old the tatami mats are, and I noticed the smell of aged tatami. It’s spacious and properly cleaned so there’s no real problem—it just stood out slightly. My child came mainly to take photos and stayed happy throughout our stay. They also said they wished there were more yukata options—not just one style—and that cute choices like kids’ sizes or around an S size would be nice. Since our goal wasn’t simply relaxing at a luxury Ryokan, we ended up enjoying ourselves more than expected and were very satisfied overall. I’d like to visit again if I have the chance. It might also be good for a company trip too.”

I stayed here for Demon Slayer, and the atmosphere was exactly as I imagined. The meals were excellent, and I’d love to come again. (I did feel the portions were a bit large.) It was disappointing that the air conditioning didn’t seem adjustable—the Room was a little hot, and even if I wanted to open a window, it couldn’t be opened. As for the open-air bath in midair, I think it really needs a proper washing area, including showers.

A superb Onsen Accommodation! Perfect in every way except the meals.
It’s been getting attention for resembling the Infinity Castle from *Demon Slayer*, and I was really looking forward to staying here. As soon as you enter the Ryokan, the view opening up from the front desk is breathtaking!! Around 4:00 PM, a shamisen performance began on the stage, and the performer’s movements were so graceful I could have watched forever. The terraced open-air bath was spectacular, and we enjoyed snowy views of the nearby mountains and valley. The water temperature was perfect and incredibly relaxing. The other large public bath—the sky open-air bath—can be reserved for private use depending on the time slot for 3,300 yen, but you should definitely make a Reservation during daylight hours. We called to reserve it the day before, but unfortunately only nighttime was available; we used it in the morning during regular hours instead, and it was still wonderful. Both the property and our Room were clean, and we were able to relax a lot—but the shower water pressure in our Room was very weak (lol). The only real disappointment was dinner. We had a Japanese course meal at the restaurant, but it felt unbalanced with too many soups/dishes with broth, and everything came out far too quickly. The tempura batter was overly crunchy and tasted amateurish, which was really disappointing. I wondered if we should have chosen the other restaurant where you can enjoy kappo cuisine prepared by the head chef instead. The breakfast buffet was delicious. The staff were polite as well—overall, aside from that, it was truly a great Accommodation.

The lobby was just as expected!
The theme of our trip was exploring the autumn leaves in Minamiaizu, enjoying train rides, and visiting Ouchi-juku. However, what caught our attention during our accommodation search was the lobby space of this Ryokan, where the master plays the shamisen. We were curious if it would look as beautiful as in the pictures and stayed with high expectations. The live performance seems to be held daily and exceeded our expectations. Experiencing it after a relaxing Onsen bath added even more charm. We thoroughly enjoyed both the Onsen and cuisine, and from our room, we had a stunning view of autumn foliage across the river—perfect timing for such scenery. The outdoor Onsen is accessed via stone steps, which made us wonder how they manage during colder weather. As it is a large Ryokan, some aspects of service felt slightly compact; however, all staff members were kind and made us feel at ease. Thank you very much!

The open-air bath and private dinner are exceptional.
With the higher-class reservation, you can enjoy a relaxing private dinner in your room. The cuisine has significantly improved compared to 10 years ago, reaching a level that could be considered a culinary Ryokan. While the building is not new, renovated Western-style rooms are very clean and modern. Although the Japanese-style rooms are not new either, they offer a very calming atmosphere. The staff is friendly and provides polite service. Currently, there are many trainees undergoing training, so their service might feel slightly inexperienced at times, but this will improve as they complete their training. Considering the size of the bath and room as well as the quality of meals, weekdays offer excellent value for money. Saturdays tend to be more expensive for smaller groups like two people; however, it remains fully booked almost every weekend. For a quieter stay, weekdays are recommended. The lower-priced Plan includes dinner served in the dining area instead of your room. If you're on a budget this is an option; however, we highly recommend opting for private dining in your room if possible. As this is a popular Ryokan, we suggest making your Reservation early!

That's unfortunate...
I decided to stay here for the first time after reading other reviews. The open-air bath was as pleasant as its reputation suggested, but I was honestly shocked by the service in other areas. First, the hot pot dish served during dinner. When we sat at our table, the pot already had ingredients inside, it wasn’t heated, and there was no lid on it. With staff and other guests moving around nearby, I found this very unhygienic. Typically, hot pots are served with a lid on them for cleanliness. This presentation showed no consideration for the meal's hygiene and left me disappointed. What surprised me even more was the shuttle service arrangement. After check-out (after 10:00 AM), there is no shuttle service to the station for downhill trains—the last one is at 9:00 AM. When I asked reception to arrange a taxi, they declined by saying, "It’s about a 10-minute drive to the station, but taxis don’t like coming here." Additionally, when I inquired about buses at reception, their response was unhelpful and dismissive. To make matters worse, there were signs inside stating "Beware of bears—human injuries reported," making walking unsafe as well. With no bus options or taxi arrangements available and safety concerns ignored entirely, this situation felt highly inconsiderate. While I enjoyed the open-air bath immensely, everything else left me deeply disappointed. The lack of attention to hygiene and safety makes it impossible for me to recommend this hotel.

Enjoyable Trip
I chose the accommodation looking forward to enjoying the atmospheric shamisen performance. The sound of the shamisen was wonderful and very satisfying, but personally, I would have liked to hear Tsugaru Jongara Bushi in addition to the same melody. The meals exceeded expectations and were delicious. My husband and I are already talking about wanting to visit again.

Overall disappointing.
There is a significant difference in grade between the dining area and the Room, which was disappointing as it did not meet expectations. However, the lobby decorations were nice.

Shamisen Performance
The wind chimes at the entrance create a refreshing atmosphere, but the lighting is only available at night, so be sure to take photos during check-in as it won't stand out in the morning. The shamisen performance during check-in is wonderful. Overall, it's a spacious and traditional Ryokan. The Onsen water feels smooth; however, the indoor bath was too hot to enter. The outdoor bath is terraced like rice fields, but even from the lowest level, you can only enjoy mountain views without seeing the river. In the morning, I visited the open-air rooftop Onsen that was no longer private; since there are no showers there, it's better to use them in the main bath before heading up. The water quality felt similar. Dinner features dishes made with both mountain and seafood delicacies—no photos were taken of it though. Breakfast is served buffet-style for all guests regardless of room rank. Be sure to try their tamago kake gohan (rice with raw egg); it's delicious!

A luxury Onsen Ryokan with significantly improved cuisine
This is an accommodation I have been a regular at for about 20 years, staying approximately 60-80 days in total. I initially chose this ryokan because I loved the open-air onsen and the stone sauna. Back then, the rooms were quite old, and the meals were typical of an onsen ryokan, with all dishes served at once on the table. However, over time, each room has been renovated, and more Western-style rooms have been added. The Comfort Twin Room I stayed in this time was very comfortable and exceptionally clean due to its recent renovation. Some rooms remain unrenovated as they were in the past, so it’s advisable to carefully research and select your room when making a reservation. The open-air onsen and stone sauna are still as wonderful as ever; they are so relaxing that you might find yourself soaking for longer than planned. The most significant change over these 20 years has been in the cuisine. The style of meal service varies depending on your reservation class, which aligns with your budget. Kaiseki meals served in a large dining hall allow you to enjoy each dish slowly as they are brought out one by one. In a higher class option, meals are served in private Japanese-style rooms underground with attentive service from staff members called nakai-san—offering a more serene atmosphere along with significantly upgraded food quality. In an even higher class option above that level, you can enjoy specially selected dishes prepared by the head chef—a culinary experience worthy of being called a kappo ryokan or gourmet ryokan. For example, even garnishes like shredded daikon radish (tsuma) accompanying sashimi are hand-cut from katsura-muki slices—a rarity among ryokans—and ingredient quality is remarkably elevated overall. If your budget allows it, we highly recommend indulging in this exquisite cuisine. Many guests may visit for its lobby hall reminiscent of Infinity Castle from "Demon Slayer," but this ryokan stands out for its perfect combination of excellent food, baths, and attentive staff service—highly recommended!

Overall, very satisfied.
The Room was clean, spacious, and provided a very pleasant atmosphere. The food was also delicious. It was the second night of our three-day trip, and since the first Ryokan wasn't great, this stay felt even more refreshing. When we departed from the Ryokan, everyone came to see us off, making it a memorable part of our enjoyable trip.

Best value for money
Satisfying Onsen, satisfying meals. Perfectly satisfying pricing. For a family who loves "Demon Slayer," it was a trip worth taking! The shamisen performance on stage made us feel like we met Nakime. It was truly wonderful.

It was a dream accommodation.
I was inspired by the shamisen performance in the lobby I saw on social media and decided to stay here. The food, bath, and facilities were all excellent, and I had a wonderful time. The room showed some signs of age but was kept clean, so there were no major issues. The only downside was that my room was located near a shared restroom, and an unpleasant odor seemed to drift into the hallway from there.

Very satisfied with the view from the Room.
The view from the room along the river was wonderful. There was a swallow's nest under the eaves of the room we stayed in. My grandchild was delighted watching the swallows fly in. Of course, the Onsen and meals were also excellent!

The three-tiered open-air bath had water in only two tiers, which was a bit disappointing visually. However, the sound of the shamisen was beautiful.

We found a truly traditional and wonderful Ryokan.
I discovered this place through the Mugen Castle model from Demon Slayer. The grand Agawa River flowing in front and the soothing sound of water at the entrance and lobby created a very relaxing atmosphere. The shamisen performance was scheduled from 4 PM to 6 PM, but since we had reserved a bath and private open-air bath, we could only catch a glimpse of it. There’s also a lounge in the lobby that serves alcohol, so arriving early to enjoy drinks while listening would be amazing. The large public bath was wonderful, and there was an open-air bath as you went downstairs. Thinking it might be our last time as a family, we reserved a private open-air bath. It costs 3,300 yen for 45 minutes with prior reservation required. Considering meal schedules, I recommend calling ahead to book it. Walking down the 123 steps into what felt like an old school building was exciting! You could see the river too, and in the open-air bath area, we swam and played freely. Since we usually encourage quiet bathing habits for our kids, they had so much fun here. As for meals—initially served all at once—I thought they were done after bringing out the main meat dish later on; however more dishes kept coming until I couldn’t finish them! Everything tasted delicious; even children’s menus were packed with sushi & meats making portions overwhelming enough even adults struggled finishing theirs! At such pricing levels offering this much food seemed almost unbelievable honestly speaking though slight delays during serving caused fullness earlier than expected yet staff handling service remained friendly throughout ensuring enjoyable waiting times overall. Rooms themselves appeared older yet maintained cleanliness standards adequately accommodating four-member families including two upper-grade schoolers comfortably within twelve-tatami-sized spaces provided therein. Breakfast buffet variety next morning proved satisfying albeit lacking dessert options beyond yogurt perhaps adding ice cream/sweets alternatives might enhance experiences further still? Souvenir shop offerings impressed alongside accessible private rooms resembling Mugen Castle interiors allowing exploration freely adding extra enjoyment factor altogether! Forgotten jacket retrieval process amazed us via prompt delivery arriving already next day showcasing exceptional customer care efforts indeed! Having visited numerous Ryokans previously rarely encountering such heartwarming hospitality left deeply moved overall rekindling fondness towards simpler pleasures shared among loved ones away amidst serene settings alike here uniquely memorable moments cherished forevermore surely recommending others wholeheartedly planning return visits soon hopefully repeating similar joyful stays ahead likewise assuredly guaranteed satisfaction aplenty awaiting everyone alike undoubtedly!!

The vintage charm added to the atmosphere.
We stayed at the accommodation because our children wanted to, inspired by Demon Slayer. We couldn't choose the room as it was fully booked, and we ended up in a smaller room on the valley side, slightly recessed compared to neighboring rooms, which made the view feel limited and disappointing. It didn't seem fully booked, so we would have appreciated a bit more consideration. The live shamisen performance created a great atmosphere and was very enjoyable. As snow began to fall, experiencing the open-air onsen with a view of snowy terraced fields was absolutely amazing! However, dining in the convention hall felt like being part of a group tour and was disappointing. We would have preferred paying extra to dine at the restaurant in the basement instead. Still, we thoroughly enjoyed this retro onsen accommodation after such a long time and had an unforgettable trip!

The lobby was a hot ...
The lobby was a hot topic as it resembled the Infinity Castle from Demon Slayer, and at my daughter's request, we stayed there for New Year's. In reality, it was like an aerial stage with a beautiful design. The terraced rice field-style open-air bath was also nice. We slowly soaked in the open-air bath while enjoying the beautiful snowy scenery. The breakfast buffet was delicious, and the fluffy meringue rice with egg and the medicinal soup using Aizu's Otaneninjin were particularly memorable. I would be even happier if there were more fresh fruits. When making the reservation, the lovely rooms were already booked, so I thought it couldn't be helped to settle for a minimally equipped older room. However, perhaps due to the room rank, I couldn't add dinner at the time of reservation, which was very disappointing. There aren't many restaurants around, so I was very surprised that there was no dinner option. We stayed because of my daughter's request, and while the hotel is generally clean, if you stay in an older type of room, you should be prepared for the outdated facilities.

Early Winter at Okawa-so
Rented a car from Koriyama Station to tour Aizu and arrived at Okawaso in the evening. We were worried about the snow, but it was fine. The welcome with shamisen performance was nice. The open-air bath with snow flurries was atmospheric. I would like to visit during the autumn foliage next time. The staff's hospitality and the meals at the Hotel were very satisfying.

Autumn leaves are beautiful.
I understand that it was a busy period when I stayed, but there were too few elevators. It took quite a while to get on one. The room had beautiful autumn leaves, which I enjoyed. Unfortunately, the meals were surprising in their ordinariness. There was no creativity. The breakfast buffet was tastier. I don't think I will visit again.

It was incredibly good.
I stayed for a live event. I booked it at my daughter's request, so I went without much expectation, but I was surprised by the high quality. I returned home very satisfied, wanting to come with my family next time. Everyone welcomed us warmly, and despite being a large inn, the service was attentive, and the meals offered the best cost performance I've ever experienced. I definitely want to stay again. Thank you very much.
