Sunlight streaming through the large windows, the view, and the open-air bath on the terrace allowed us to spend our time leisurely. The young foreign staff members are doing their best in kimono. The amenities include makeup remover and basic skincare products (MIKIMOTO), which is a delight for women. There are also yukata, samue, bathrobes, and socks available. Beer and soft drinks in the refrigerator are free. There are stairs for moving around the facility, so it might be better for elderly guests to check beforehand.

It was excellent.
I stayed in the Hagi room. First of all, the room was absolutely wonderful. The spacious area and the large, relaxing open-air bath were great. Complimentary drinks were provided in the room, including beer and herbal tea. The beer after the open-air bath was the best. With shuttle service to the station and delicious meals, it was a truly wonderful stay.

An inn nestled in a tranquil forest. A modern space full of openness and exquisite kaiseki cuisine!
I visited with my wife. After receiving a courteous welcome, we were shown to our room, and we were amazed!! The high ceiling, large windows, and open space with an outdoor bath assured us of a relaxing time. The kaiseki cuisine was meticulously prepared with fresh ingredients, and the taste was exquisite! We enjoyed it very much. There were many foreign staff members, and although they seemed to be still learning the language, their kind attentiveness and earnestness came through, making our stay pleasant. We were extremely satisfied with the hot spring experience while feeling the tranquil air surrounded by the forest, the delicious food, and the heartfelt hospitality. Thank you very much. We definitely want to visit again.

An accommodation I would like to visit again
Room & Amenities: The room was clean and comfortable. However, due to the design, there is no door separating the shower booth from the washroom, which might be a concern for some as water tends to splash around. (I was careful not to get things wet.) Service: I believe the number of foreign staff in ryokans has been increasing in recent years, and I felt this was the best experience I've had. The efforts of the foreign staff and the management's dedication to training them in customer service are evident. Particularly, the staff member from Nepal who explained the meals was easy to understand in Japanese, polite, friendly, and made the dining experience enjoyable. Onsen & Bath: The cleanliness was impeccable, with no complaints. Facilities: I think the facility itself is old (probably due to its design), but it doesn't feel that way at all. Meals: Overall, the meals were delicious and the portions were just right, not too much. However, compared to other ryokans in the same price range, I felt a slight lack in the quality of ingredients used. (The taste was very delicious.)

All rooms come with a private open-air bath.
There are many hot spring inns in Yugawara, but if you narrow down your purpose, you might be very satisfied. However, overall, it's at an upper-middle level. For someone like me, who enjoys the green-filled scenery from a room with an open-air bath, it was the perfect inn and I was very satisfied. The meals were fairly good. You might not want to expect too much from the large public bath.

The open-air bath in the room was very nice. The large windows provided a sense of openness, and the spacious room was relaxing. As for dinner, it was delicious, but I wish there had been an option for a more luxurious course menu for an additional fee. The optional abalone and spiny lobster were very tasty. Breakfast was also very satisfying, with everything, including the rice with raw egg, being delicious.

We stayed as a family of three with our 4-year-old child. Contrary to the classic exterior, the renovated room was innovative and functional, allowing us to have a comfortable stay. The staff were friendly and suggested in-room dining, with a well-prepared kids' menu, making it reassuring for families with children to enjoy meals, which was great. The open-air bath in the room was comfortable, but since it was free-flowing, adjusting the temperature each time took some time, which was a concern. The meals were elegantly seasoned and generally delicious, but the main dish at dinner felt somewhat lacking in content. Nevertheless, the overall satisfaction was high, and it's a place we'd like to revisit in a different season.

The view and the atmosphere of the inn were nice, and the breakfast was especially delicious.
At check-in, I was surprised to be greeted by many foreign staff members. Although their Japanese was somewhat halting, their earnestness was evident. The room we were shown to was called "Izayoi." It was a slightly smaller room, but with a very high ceiling, there was no sense of oppression, and the interior was stylish. Beyond the large glass wall, there was an open-air bath attached to the room, creating a sense of unity with the room. The view was expansive and lush, providing a sense of relaxation. The room had a tablet device for inn information, which is common these days, but it was under maintenance or froze, making it very inconvenient to use. For elderly guests, the traditional booklet would be more appreciated. We had dinner in the dining room, seated at a counter facing the window, which was narrow for us as we usually order a lot of alcohol. We would prefer to enjoy proper kaiseki cuisine at a table facing each other. What concerned me most this time was the position of the lighting at the restaurant counter seats. A strong spotlight was directed at the food from the ceiling behind our seats, casting a strong shadow of our heads on the dishes. This made the chef's kaiseki dishes not look as appetizing as they should. We also ordered a five-wine pairing during dinner. Each time, a glass of wine was brought with a simple explanation of "This is ○○." However, a typical pairing service would involve showing the wine bottle to the customer, allowing them to check the label, and then explaining, "This is ○○. It has the characteristics of □□, so please try it with the ×× dish." Without at least this level of explanation and presentation, it's hard to know where the wine is from and how it pairs. Is there no one knowledgeable about alcohol? The dinner itself seemed to be a kaiseki meal with variations to match the wine, which was a nice change from the ordinary. Breakfast, on the other hand, was traditional and very delicious. Overall, while the building, atmosphere, and food were good, I got the impression that there was no one capable of operating at a proper level. A luxury inn is a hospitality business that demands the highest level. Currently, the service level does not quite reach that of a luxury inn, but since there is potential, I believe that with steady improvements, it could become a better inn.

Wife and I indulged in hot springs
The room was quiet, and I was able to relax. I enjoyed the hot springs while listening to the warbling of nightingales as background music and gazing at the scenery. The elaborate meals left both my husband and me very satisfied. The spa treatment, done without wearing anything, was both moving and a bit embarrassing, but it was very comfortable and allowed me to relax completely. What surprised me this time was the large number of foreign guests compared to the proportion of rooms. I felt it might be because of the combination of hot springs, meals, and hospitality. However, regarding mobility, there are stairs, so those with mobility issues need to be cautious.

It was a pleasant service.
I used this place for a workation. There were two points I found wonderful. Service: From the welcome to the farewell, I was pleasantly hosted. The courteous guidance and attentiveness allowed me to relax. Facilities: The room had extension cords, making it easy to charge and use my smartphone and PC. At hot spring inns, I usually find myself fiddling with my smartphone or PC by the wall, but this time I was in the middle of the room (laughs). There were also two points I personally found disappointing. Private open-air bath: At check-in, the view was great, and having the open-air bath all to myself was fantastic. However, when I woke up in the morning, the water was lukewarm, and despite adding more hot water, it didn't help. Also, it didn't seem to warm me up to the core. The issue of lukewarm water sometimes happens at other inns and hotels too. Maintaining and adjusting the water temperature must be quite challenging, but I hope they can improve this. Wine: I might be a bit harsh because I love wine. I tried five types of Japanese wine pairings, but none of them were tasty. The glasses were also thick. Recently, there are many delicious Japanese wines, but I was left puzzled.

It was a comfortable stay.
I stayed for one night from May 19th. The building itself was very old, but it was well cleaned, and the room called Kusawarabi where I stayed seemed to have been recently renovated, so it was very beautiful. The layout was compact and comfortable. Since I requested meals in the room, I hardly met other guests during my stay and was able to relax. The meals were very delicious. Even with in-room dining, the soup dishes were served piping hot, and the sashimi was fresh and very tasty. Additionally, I was able to grate fresh wasabi on the spot, which was very satisfying. The quality of the hot spring water goes without saying. I originally liked the water of Yugawara Onsen because it suits my skin very well, and the open-air bath with free-flowing spring water was always at the right temperature, so I soaked in it many times. Many of the staff were foreigners, but they were all very friendly and left a good impression. The attendant who came to the room was also a foreigner, but she explained the dishes diligently and was very attentive, allowing me to spend a very enjoyable and comfortable time. I will definitely visit again the next time I have the opportunity to go to Yugawara. Thank you very much.

We stayed with our 2-year-old child using the baby plan. The staff remembered our names and were friendly every time they served meals in our room, allowing our child to enjoy the meals. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable, which made us very satisfied. It was pouring rain when we left, but many staff members helped us, so we were able to get into the car without getting wet. Thank you very much. We would love to visit again with our family!

I would definitely like to stay again.
The room had a warm wooden feel, the amenities were wonderful and clean, and we were able to stay very comfortably. The hot spring water, the meals, and the staff's warm and considerate care were all excellent, and my wife was so impressed that she said she would love to stay here for future anniversaries. We would like to stay again for a family anniversary. Thank you very much.

The food was excellent.
I stayed for one night during the first half of Golden Week. The room was in Tomose, and it was spacious and comfortable. Above all, having a private open-air bath in the room was a luxury, allowing us to enjoy the hot spring at our leisure. (I was a bit concerned about the slow drainage of the shower, though.) The dinner and breakfast were very delicious, using seasonal ingredients and mainly Japanese cuisine with a hint of Western elements. The portion size, including dessert, was just right. It was an inn I would definitely like to visit again.

I wanted to relax with my friends, so I looked for a place to stay. The room was spacious, the outside air was refreshing, and I was able to relax a lot. The in-room massage was pleasant, and I was able to make a reservation for the spa, which made for a great time. I would like to visit again.

Yugawara: The Best Inn
An early Mother's Day trip with my mother in her 70s and myself in my 40s. My mother is not fond of crowded dining areas or large public baths, so I always look for places with in-room dining and private hot springs, and this was the best inn. (I think it would also be great for those with babies or children.) The cost and satisfaction matched perfectly (this is my personal opinion). [Flowers] My mother loves flowers, so the fresh flowers arranged throughout the inn were lovely. [Public Bath] With a rotation system, we enjoyed the baths outside our room both at night and in the morning, and appreciated the greenery through the windows. There were plenty of towels, barley tea, lemon water, and small ice creams for children in the fridge before the bath, which even adults enjoyed. [In-room Bath] The temperature was just right, and the water quality, not too strong (the added water was actually good), allowed for long, smooth soaks. There were handrails and non-slip materials, so my mother could bathe alone with peace of mind. We bathed four times during our one-night stay. ^^ [In-room Dining] It might be a bit much for seniors, but I felt the chef's meticulous attention to flavors. The turban shell pie sheet was large and plentiful, and the tomato basil sauce was exquisite—a delicacy you can only enjoy at an inn, not something you can make at home. The sashimi came with salt, soy sauce, and miso vinegar for the shellfish (a thoughtful touch not often seen at other inns), and there were plenty of vegetables. The white rice and miso soup were all delicious. The handmade castella for dessert would be loved by children too. [Breakfast] The grilled fish was, of course, delicious, and the soup with yam dumplings and minced meat with butterbur paste was tasty. The miso soup with shijimi clams was delicious, and I had seconds of the rice. I also requested seaweed and mentaiko, which was a bit of a selfish request. The two types of salad (sesame oil seaweed and cabbage), granola yogurt, and fruits were well-balanced for seniors. The latest breakfast time was 8:30, but it would be nice if it could be extended to 9:00. The staff who greeted us and attended to our room were all pleasant. There were more outlets than usual for an inn, which was helpful for charging phones and PCs. Although there were only blinds, I thought it might be bright in the morning, but it didn't bother me, and I slept soundly. Lastly, my room was accessible by stairs, which was difficult for my mother with bad legs, so I thought it would be good to discuss this in advance for those who are completely wheelchair-bound. Since the room is self-contained, it might be nice to do check-in and check-out in the room as well. I'm just a travel enthusiast, but this is an inn I definitely want to visit again. The food, bath, and service were all very satisfying, and it was a wonderful inn.

I was able to relax comfortably.
The facility and the room were clean, and I had a very pleasant stay. Although there were moments when the staff's Japanese was not fluent, they explained everything with a smile and great effort, which made me smile as well. It was a bit disappointing that there was no open-air bath in the large public bath, so I am giving it four stars with high expectations. Since it's on a rotation system, I think it would be perfect if there was even just one. As expected, all the meals were extremely delicious. I think the dining area was arranged in a way that you don't notice being in the same space as others. It was an inn that made me want to visit again.

We stayed with our one-year-old son.
We stayed as a family of three with our one-year-old son because of the baby plan. It was very convenient to borrow baby-related items such as a diaper trash can and baby bath supplies! The staff's hospitality was excellent, and they kindly spoke to our son. The room was spacious, allowing us to relax comfortably. The cleaning was thorough, so we felt safe letting our baby move around. Our son seemed to enjoy crawling energetically on the large tatami space. The neighboring room also seemed to have a baby, but we didn't hear any crying, giving the impression that the soundproofing was solid. The meals, both at night and in the morning, were simply delicious! We've stayed at various accommodations, but the food here was memorable. We could eat in our room without worrying about others, and they provided soft rice as baby food, which our son ate well. The room's hot spring was also spacious, and the three of us enjoyed it together. After our son went to sleep at night, my husband and I relaxed, chatting while looking at the moon and stars, either in the bath or on the deck chairs, which was very nice. The large public bath was crowded due to bad timing, so we left quickly, but the view seemed good. Ice cream was also available after the bath! Overall, we had a very pleasant stay. If there is room for improvement, it would be helpful if the room could be made completely dark for the baby to sleep easily, while also having a structure that allows adults to be active after the child sleeps, or a structure that can block out light. After the child slept, we used the open-air bath without turning on the lights to avoid waking him, which was a bit inconvenient. Also, entering and exiting the open-air bath required operating blinds, which was inconvenient. It would be helpful to have a lantern or something to place partial lighting. Additionally, regarding the room's open-air bath, we didn't know it was a free-flowing bath and couldn't maintain the temperature, so when we tried to enter at night, it was almost cold. We understand the desire to save resources, but the faucet stops after a few seconds, and we managed by fixing it with a hand bucket, but having to hold it down continuously to fill the bath is quite inconvenient. It would be better to explain this in advance. Also, since the layout allows visibility into other rooms' open-air baths, it would be nice to have some measures to block the view a bit more. The staff were very kind, but it was a bit inconvenient as it was difficult to ask small questions.

It was a pleasant stay.
We stayed with our baby. The availability of baby wipes and a diaper disposal bin was very helpful. The hot spring in the room was hot, so we added water each time, but it was very pleasant. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, and the portions were just right. The only downside was that the size of the pants for the in-house wear was small, and my larger husband couldn't wear them, but overall, it was a highly satisfying inn.

I don't think it's worth paying 100,000 yen per night.
I visited with high expectations as it cost over 100,000 yen per night, but in conclusion, I didn't think it was worth the price. Although the room and facilities themselves were comfortable after the renovation, it felt like the service aspect hadn't caught up with the hardware. Here are the points that concerned me. - The attendants were all foreigners and had difficulty with Japanese. Although we had in-room dining, the explanation of the dishes was just reading out the dish names from a memo. There was no explanation at all for the dishes that were changed for my pregnant wife. Due to the language barrier, it was difficult to ask questions, and to top it off, they even got the drink order wrong. Naturally, we couldn't receive the attentive service we expected, and it was very unpleasant as they kept bringing the food even though we hadn't finished eating. - The main meat dish at dinner was cold. This was a significant negative point. Despite claiming to be a kaiseki ryokan, the food wasn't particularly delicious. (Breakfast was decent, though.) - The default temperature setting of the private open-air bath in the room was 55 degrees, which was too hot to enter immediately. It was necessary to add cold water, but the button stopped after 40 seconds, so it had to be pressed repeatedly, making it impossible to enter quickly. Since a lot of water needed to be added, I doubted whether it really had the benefits of a hot spring.

A relaxing inn
Thank you for taking care of us. We were soothed by the open-air bath with natural hot spring water flowing directly from the source. The water was colorless, transparent, and a very beautiful hot spring. The amenities were also plentiful, and the Mikimoto shampoo and cosmetics were excellent. The breakfast had a wide variety of dishes, and I was delighted with the delicious dried fish.

The whole family was satisfied with our first visit to Yugawara Onsen.
We stayed as a family of five. We usually favor Gens in Hakone recently, but since this is a related inn, the room layout is very similar to Gens, with bright, spacious, and clean rooms. This type of room will surely make anyone feel bright and relaxed. The facilities are up-to-date, with a TV that has Netflix and YouTube built-in. The massage chair is incredibly appreciated. The tea in the room is organic and delicious. The in-room dining was served on a large table, and the food was simply superb, with a menu that doesn't become repetitive or boring. This meal is unforgettable. The bathroom in the room is spacious, and the location offers a great view of the mountains and greenery of Yugawara. However, the standard water temperature is 55 degrees, which is too hot to enter without adding a significant amount of cold water, so I give it 4 stars. But once you adjust the temperature with cold water, it's no problem and the bath is excellent. I would love to visit again for relaxation. Thank you very much.
