Hotel Grand Resort Tateshina

I am truly grateful for the wonderful service. I was deeply impressed by the staff’s kindness and warm hospitality. As we stayed on a weekday before the holiday period, the atmosphere throughout the property was very calm. All the other guests also seemed relaxed and at ease, and it made for a lovely time. The meals were absolutely delicious, and drinks naturally went down easily. Just as I was thinking, “What should I have next?”, a member of the dining staff would casually come by and prepare my next drink. The Onsen was also impeccably cleaned and well maintained—everything was attentive in every way—and it became a perfect Clear & refresh for both mind and body. When I visit Tateshina again, I would love to stay with you again. Thank you very much for such a wonderful time.

We stayed in February and loved it so much that we came back again in March. For our family, who prefers a stay-at-the-Hotel style trip, it fits our needs perfectly.Room: A tatami Room with two Simmons beds; since we were three people, they also laid out one futon. In the former engawa area there is a sofa and table, and the view is great—it’s truly relaxing. We brought drinks from the lobby and used the coffee machine; the counter was spacious and very convenient.Large public bath: Two types of hot spring water (high-temperature and low-temperature sources) flow in. Keeping it at around 42°C must take effort, but it means you can enjoy excellent free-flowing Onsen. The open-air bath is set at a slightly lower temperature.Lounge: It’s nice to have another comfortable place besides the Room and Onsen. You can stop by after check-in or at night to enjoy alcohol. Other than the coffee machine and canned cola, cocktails and other drinks are made by staff upon request.Dining: Meals are served on the second floor, and drinks are free here as well. It’s fun choosing what to drink next while looking at the menu. If you order warmed sake, it’s served properly in a tokkuri flask with ochoko cups—and realizing that this is also included is impressive. This really sets it apart from typical all-inclusive self-serve drinks. Of course, the food is delicious too.Requests: I’d love to see tomato juice added to the free drinks selection—I like a Red Eye (beer mixed with tomato juice), and having something fresh in the morning after drinking would be great. If I remember correctly, most soft drinks were only sweet options? Also, I think a fresh vegetable salad should be essential at breakfast. With today’s growing health consciousness, this feels like a must-have. Even traditional Japanese Ryokan serve fresh salads in the morning, and some places offer just salads buffet-style (e.g., Tateshina Shinyu or Saginoyu).Note: Especially for women—please bring your own makeup remover from your Room. The large public bath only has cotton swabs and shower caps available. I went without knowing this and ended up washing my face with body soap (lol).Summary: It’s rare to find a Hotel with conditions this good at such reasonable prices—so for our family, rebooking is Done. Clean, quiet, delicious food, free-flowing Onsen water, inclusive drinks… it’s so good that we’re already looking forward to our next stay.
