I usually try to live frugally, but something wonderful happened, and this trip was a reward to celebrate all that hard work. The private open-air bath, the delicious meals served in our Room, and this lovely Accommodation that helped us forget everyday life were all exceptional. I will never forget the warm hospitality.

We were completely satisfied with everything—the Onsen, the meals, the Room, and the entire Accommodation. The drink and snack service was also excellent, and we were able to relax both body and mind and enjoy a truly wonderful time. Thank you very much to all the staff. We would definitely like to visit again. This is a truly wonderful Accommodation that will stay in our hearts.

Throughout our stay, we could feel the Accommodation’s pride and dignity in every detail, and it was a truly fulfilling experience. First, what deserves special mention is the thoroughness of the Room cleaning. Everything was carefully arranged down to the smallest detail, and the spotless space—without a speck of dust—made us feel that the fundamentals of an Accommodation were being upheld at an exceptionally high standard. We were also deeply impressed by the grace of the attendant’s service. Though she was young, she wore traditional attire, moved quietly with no wasted motion, and spoke with gentle refinement. In each gesture we sensed a polished spirit of hospitality; imagining how much effort she must have put in even brought tears to my eyes. (This old man is easily moved.) And above all, what was most outstanding was the exceptional quality of the cuisine. With generous use of premium ingredients, every aspect—the presentation, depth of flavor, and expression of seasonality—was superb. More than anything, I felt that what sustains this high level of service—and its true cornerstone—is the proprietress’s attitude. She consistently leads from the front, encouraging and guiding her staff. I was profoundly moved. These days, Accommodations like this are becoming rare. My wife and I are already talking about returning again in autumn. This is a genuinely outstanding Accommodation where you can experience Japan’s traditional beauty and refined elegance without exaggeration.

We drove 4.5 hours from Tokyo to see the famous emerald-green Onsen for ourselves, and arrived to a grand entrance where many staff members warmly welcomed us. The moment you step inside, the luxurious, high-quality architecture lifts your spirits. The Onsen really is emerald green, with a strong sulfur scent that makes you feel you’ve come to a truly great hot spring. The intensity of the sulfur aroma rivals Kusatsu—maybe even stronger!? The large public bath is very spacious, and with several different baths to choose from, it never gets boring. With such high-quality Onsen and snowy scenery, it was so wonderful we could have stayed in forever. As for the meals, the sashimi was especially delicious. I did feel the breakfast buffet could have been a bit better, but given the reasonable price, I have no complaints. If it were closer, I’d come all the time—an Accommodation with an exceptionally high level of satisfaction.

It was a three-generation girls’ trip with my mother, my daughter, and me. Although it was a Japanese-style Room, it had three beds, which made it comfortable for my elderly mother and she was very pleased. Dinner was delicious as well, with meat, fish, and seasonal vegetables. The garden view during the meal and from the Room was wonderful. The bath truly lived up to Tsukioka Onsen—my skin felt so smooth afterward. If I had to mention one thing, since the three of us went to the bath separately at times, we would have appreciated having two keys. It was a great trip.

Recommended for anyone looking for an Accommodation in Tsukioka Onsen (Niigata) where the food is the main attraction. “Kappo no Yado Imai (Igarashi-tei Yui)” feels less like a typical Onsen Ryokan and more like “staying overnight at a kappo restaurant at your leisure,” and the kaiseki was simply outstanding. The flavors make the most of seasonal ingredients, with careful attention to the dashi, cooking, and presentation. It goes beyond what you’d expect from a Ryokan meal—I truly felt it was worth coming to Tsukioka Onsen just for the dining. The Onsen is also true to Tsukioka Onsen, leaving your skin feeling wonderfully smooth after a soak. Combined with the calm atmosphere where you can relax while looking out over the garden, it helps you unwind both body and mind. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Niigata who values “Onsen × gourmet” experiences.

The staff were polite and approachable, and the Room was clean. The Onsen was not crowded, so it was easy to use. There were also free drinks and a table tennis table, which I enjoyed with friends. I only had breakfast, but there was a wide variety of options and it was delicious. If I have the chance to visit again, I will return.

I stayed in Room 311 in GATEI, and the tatami floor creaked a lot, so it might bother some people. Other than that, everything was very good. The bath was hot and kept me warm afterward, which felt great. There is a sauna, but no cold plunge pool, so you can’t use it the same way as a typical public bathhouse. The sulfur Onsen had quite a strong smell, though I thought that added to the atmosphere in its own way. The smell does linger throughout the Hotel, though. I only had breakfast, but it was very satisfying—especially the miso soup.

The footbath was nearby, and the Accommodation’s Onsen was also excellent. Breakfast was very delicious, and I finished everything. I would like to come again.

The staff's hospitality was truly warm and welcoming, making us feel at home. The meals were delicious and perfectly portioned, with the rice being especially outstanding. We sincerely hope this Ryokan continues to thrive for years to come.

If you want to enjoy a traditional Onsen accommodation, this is the perfect choice! The service is excellent, and I would love to stay here again if given the chance! The bath is a bit small.

I stayed here because there was a company welcome/farewell party nearby. It’s conveniently located near the station, and the parking lot is fairly spacious. The Facility may feel a bit old, but for one night with No Meals Included, the Room and bed are spacious and comfortable. The front desk staff were also calm and courteous, which I appreciated. I’ll likely stay here again when I have another get-together in the area. Thank you in advance.

Among the few pet-friendly accommodations, I chose a no-dinner plan as I had plans during the day and checked in late. Prioritizing cost-effectiveness since it was just for staying overnight. The room was well-cleaned, had a sense of cleanliness, and I was very satisfied. The breakfast was delicious enough, leaving me very satisfied, making this accommodation a definite choice for repeat visits. The onsen at the external bathhouse was also excellent.
