The Accommodation itself was wonderful, but what stayed with me even more was the owner’s story of reviving a soy sauce brewery with over 300 years of history. Through soy sauce, my imagination naturally expanded to the lives and feelings of people long ago, and I was quietly moved by the continuity of human life across generations. Combined with Nara’s atmosphere—like touching the source of history—and the sense that prayer is woven into everyday life, I was able to spend time here that can only be found in this place. I highly recommend joining the soy sauce pressing experience and the visit to Muraya Shrine the next morning. Every dish was prepared in a way that let us enjoy soy sauce and moromi through carefully chosen ingredients and cooking methods, and the portions were just right—everything was excellent. Away from everyday noise, I spent time that gently eased both body and mind. Thank you very much.

I stayed at an Accommodation renovated from a traditional old house, which has been becoming more common recently. This type of Accommodation often doesn’t include dinner, and I’d tended to avoid it because I worried about finding somewhere to eat, but this time the deciding factor was that dinner was included. There are four Accommodations in town, and we stayed in the building with the reception desk and restaurant. It was very convenient because we could relax in our Room right after the meal. Guests staying at the other facilities seem to have shuttle service, but for those who want to unwind immediately after dinner, I think KANMURI’s facility is especially well suited. Of course, each one has its own charm, and it made me want to try staying at the other locations as well. The food focused on local ingredients, and it was also memorable that the staff explained everything so carefully. Thanks to their kind service, we were able to enjoy our meal comfortably. If I had one concern, it would be that the hot water in the bath didn’t flow very strongly. Since the bathtub is fairly large, it took quite a long time to fill. Even after more than an hour it still didn’t feel full enough, and because there’s no reheating function, it may be a bit difficult to take another bath later. Overall, it was a wonderful Accommodation where we could enjoy the unique atmosphere of an old house while taking our time over a great meal.

Ise Jingu was a place I had always wanted to visit, and through a wonderful connection I found this Accommodation. I truly feel it was meant to be. It was also our children’s first time staying in a traditional Japanese house, and they were thrilled. We were able to relax in the spacious, warm atmosphere—it felt like coming home to my parents’ house. We had such a lovely time. Thank you again. Everyone, please do come and stay here! I will definitely stay again. I’ll keep working hard while looking forward to the day we can return. And people in Mie Prefecture are truly warm-hearted—our taxi driver, shop staff, and everyone at the Accommodation were all kind and welcoming. I stayed here in autumn a year ago, and it was so wonderful that I came back with my family. First of all, the location and the building are exceptional—full of charm. The taxi driver we took from the station didn’t even know this Hotel existed. That’s how seamlessly it blends into the town. This time we used a taxi because the snow was frozen and extremely slippery, but if the weather is good, everything is within walking distance. Last time, we walked to the morning market and also to the ropeway station. The red brick warehouses at night were quiet with few people around, and we were able to fully enjoy the snowy scenery. The Room was great as well. I gave 4 stars only because the hot water in my companion’s Room bath wasn’t quite right, but this is truly an Accommodation for adults who want to relax in peace and quiet. Since we can be a bit noisy, we really appreciated being given a Room at the very end (lol). Thank you for being so considerate. I also really wanted to try breakfast, so we did—and it was beautifully presented and delicious. It’s an old building, and I’m sure there are many challenges for the staff, but everyone was genuinely kind. My family loved it too. This is an Accommodation I’d like to visit anytime—spring, summer, autumn, or winter.

It felt completely out of the ordinary! I didn’t have a very good impression of renovated traditional houses turned into a Hotel, but when the Hotel staff told us about the building’s history, we learned it used to be a storehouse owned by someone who made Japanese candles. Various items were left behind so you can see traces of life from that time. It also seems each building has its own unique character. The interior had the charm of an old house, and because they use the original structure, there are interesting differences from a typical Hotel—such as the bath only being able to go in one specific place due to the layout. What surprised me even more was that there’s a whole town centered around the Hotel, and we enjoyed walking around with restaurants, leather goods shops, and stores selling local sake. Next time, I’d like to stay in a different Room or try another area’s traditional house Hotel.

The renovated traditional house had a calm atmosphere and matched the concept perfectly. Although the building is old, the Facility such as the plumbing, air conditioning, and bedding were new and comfortable. The meals exceeded expectations and were delicious. The staff were well trained and provided good service. The only disappointing points were that the parking area was hard to find and it took some time for hot water to reach the bath.

It was my second stay with my 89-year-old grandmother. During our previous visit, we were deeply impressed by the service, room, and meals (everything?), and we wanted to visit Nagatoro again, so we returned within half a year. I was delighted to meet the staff member who assisted us last time and receive their kind words once more. The meals featured new seasonal menus, and the Anniversary Plan celebration brought joy to my grandmother, making me truly happy. I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart. P.S. Before breakfast at 8:30 AM, we visited Chichibu Shrine. It took less than 30 minutes for a round trip, so I highly recommend it for those planning a refreshing morning visit!

This was our second stay, following last year. As we were sharing one Room with four people (my daughter and her husband included), we contacted the property in advance and had two extra beds prepared. The Room was spacious, so it didn’t feel cramped at all. The meals were creative French cuisine made with locally sourced ingredients, and it was well worth the trip from Tokyo. We were also given explanations of wines and other drinks to pair with the food, which we really appreciated. Even though they were extremely busy, they printed a flyer for the sake brewery festival the next day and provided attentive guidance, which was a great help. We would love to visit again.

My wife previously visited the Takehara Preservation District and said it was wonderful, so we stopped by on our way back from Etajima, Hiroshima. Several historic residences in the district have been renovated into Hotel club rooms, and it’s fun to stroll through the area while experiencing different houses and estates. Our room was on the second floor up a steep staircase and had a great view. The exposed ceiling beams were impressive. With multiple air conditioners installed and a clean renovation throughout, there was none of the discomfort sometimes associated with traditional old houses, and we stayed very comfortably. The bath was also a spacious hinoki-wood tub, which was very relaxing. We skipped dinner because we were tired after a long drive from the Kansai area to Etajima and meals during our Multiple Night Stay at Etajimaso. Breakfast was delicious. One complaint: regarding parking this time, even when I needed to contact someone urgently, I couldn’t reach the Accommodation directly and could only contact NIPPONIA HOTEL’s head office (?). I’d like to see this improved.

This was my first time staying at NIPPONIA. The Accommodation’s website mentioned that, as it is a historic building, insulation might be insufficient, but that turned out to be completely unfounded. It was warm and comfortable throughout my stay. The next morning, I needed to leave early and thought I wouldn’t be able to have breakfast, but the staff spoke with the chef and arranged for it to be prepared an hour earlier than the usual serving time. Even though both the chef and staff may have had to start earlier than planned, they served us without a hint of displeasure, which I truly appreciated. It seemed like there were many young staff members, but I felt that everyone was attentive and genuinely cared about ensuring guests could spend their time comfortably. I would love to stay again.

Although it’s not easy to reach by public transportation, I came back because I wanted to spend another wonderful time here. I was happy to see the staff member who took care of us last time again! It’s no exaggeration to say I came to see her—she truly loves this Accommodation. There were more amenities than last time, and I had a very comfortable stay. It seems the chef has changed, but the food was still delicious. Recommended for those who want a quiet stay. The building is also well worth seeing! It’s beautifully maintained and truly impressive.

We stayed here on a family trip. We stayed in a Room renovated from inside a sake brewery, and it was very sophisticated and relaxing. Breakfast and dinner are both delivered to the Room, but since it’s not the typical Ryokan-style tatami dining setup, it feels homey—like having a meal at a villa or while glamping. Drinks are all-you-can-drink on the reception floor, so if you run out you can simply go and get more, and we enjoyed them without hesitation. Many of the sake flasks and cups have beautiful designs as well, which makes using them part of the fun. The meals were also just the right amount—not too much or too little—which I really appreciated. The bath is not an Onsen, but the tub is spacious, and the washroom area was very large and easy to use. The lighting was a bit dim for doing makeup, but there was a tabletop mirror with its own light—this was my first time feeling that doing makeup there would actually be easy. It’s an Accommodation filled with thoughtful touches throughout, so I’d love to return if I have another chance.

Although it was midwinter, the room in the storehouse was not cold and we were able to stay comfortably. Not only the room but also the front desk, restaurant, garden, and the entire accommodation had a sense of unity, allowing us to immerse ourselves in its unique atmosphere. The staff's service was very polite, and they kindly responded to our inquiries. The meals were carefully prepared with high-quality ingredients and were absolutely delicious.

Located at an altitude of 480m in the rural area of Tamba Sasayama, Shitsukawa Tenku Farm offers a truly unique experience. Among the NIPPONIA properties, this has become my favorite. After my first visit last year, I couldn’t wait to return and had the pleasure of staying twice this year—in mid-June and early August. Though it is situated away from the center of Tamba Sasayama, just beyond the mountain range lies Nose Town in Osaka Prefecture. The breathtaking view of terraced rice fields right before your eyes is unparalleled, making every moment spent here feel incredibly special. The stay included breakfast featuring freshly harvested vegetables and perfectly cooked rice that were exceptionally flavorful and memorable. The freshness of each ingredient stood out, turning our family meals into cherished moments. Although both visits coincided with rainy weather in June and August, there were plenty of breaks in between showers. In June, we enjoyed watching fireflies; in August, we listened to cicadas while admiring mist-covered mountains in the morning—a truly soothing experience. Stepping onto the terrace felt like entering a storybook world filled with magical moments. Throughout the day, birdsong and cicada calls created a serene atmosphere where we could fully relax amidst nature’s embrace. This place inspires gratitude towards local residents and a heartfelt wish for these beautiful landscapes to be preserved forever. Thank you for such an unforgettable experience!

Originally limited to two groups, the accommodation was offered as a whole rental since we were the only reservation. The tasteful design preserved its vintage charm, and the on-site security ensured a safe and comfortable stay. Breakfast the next morning was provided by a stylish nearby restaurant, making for an entirely satisfying trip. The town's atmosphere is full of charm, and this is an accommodation we would love to visit again. Highly recommended for adult travelers.

We visited for a New Year's trip with our beloved dog. This cozy accommodation, renovated from a traditional Japanese house, allowed us to relax and unwind. Our dog seemed very happy running freely in the garden and being pampered by the kind staff. We would love to visit again during the warmer season.

I stayed for two nights, one with No Meals Included and the other with dinner and breakfast included. Learning about the centuries of history cherished by everyone in this mountain area was truly inspiring. I had a very comfortable stay, feeling protected by the mountains, which allowed me to sleep soundly. The local cuisine prepared by the community was exceptional (starting with tempura of sweet buns and many other unique dishes!). Knowing that hot water was boiled using firewood added to my happiness! It was hard to leave, and since I couldn’t see the starry sky this time, I hope to visit again!

We stayed here on a three-generation trip with my mother and daughter! Since our main destination was Chichibugahama Beach, the location was perfect. The spacious, retro traditional house let us forget the hustle and bustle of the city and relax at a leisurely pace. My mother in her 80s fondly picked up the records in the Room, while my daughter said it was her first time seeing vinyl records—haha. It became a truly memorable time. Thank you very much.
