Following our stay last autumn, we once again received the very best hospitality this time. The requested dishes were also exquisite. Since COVID, we’ve stayed here several times a year, and each visit I’m amazed at how much the owner’s wife’s cooking keeps improving. It was so impressive I almost wanted to say, “Please call the chef!” The meals—made with care to bring out the best in the ingredients, with special attention to dashi and plenty of time—are truly perfect for someone like me who values additive-free food. I was also happy to enjoy my favorite kinmedai (splendid alfonsino) sashimi. This time, because of work, it was still too early for cherry blossoms and they were only buds, but we had two wonderful days of relaxation at Respaito. Thank you as always! I think we’ll be able to visit again before summer, and we’re looking forward to seeing you both.

It was our first stay, and this Accommodation exceeded our expectations. The meals were the best we have ever had at any Accommodation. In particular, the French cuisine made excellent use of seasonal vegetables with gentle seasoning, making it easy for us as a couple to enjoy. The plates were warmed as well, so the food stayed hot—everything was prepared with great care. The bread was also so delicious that we ended up eating too much. Breakfast is simple, but so tasty it makes you want more rice. The staff were very kind and helped us with anything we needed. It is a truly comfortable Accommodation. We would love to return in a different season.

Despite making a same-day Reservation, we were warmly welcomed and expertly assisted from pickup through check-in and guidance—an atmosphere truly filled with hospitality. The Facility was breathtaking as well: the stunning valley views and sounds, the Room and Onsen to enjoy them, and the meals—everything exceeded our expectations. During this cherry blossom season, you even suggested a morning weeping cherry blossom tour at dinner, and we had a far better time than if we had planned it ourselves. It was such a relaxing stay that it made us want to work hard every day so we can come back again. Thank you very much.

We found and booked a small Accommodation. We were able to fully enjoy the long-awaited Onsen at a relaxed pace without it feeling crowded, and it was a nice touch that each person could choose their own hot pot dinner from four options. Everything was delicious, but for someone in their 50s the portions were a bit large, and sadly I couldn’t finish even the rice balls the hostess made. Breakfast was also plentiful and made me feel happy from the morning. With a great Onsen and pleasant hospitality, we had an enjoyable holiday weekend.

This was my third visit yesterday. The Onsen is wonderfully gentle on the skin and absolutely satisfying, but the meals and wine at the restaurant were, as always, outstanding. There were many dishes you can’t experience elsewhere—like lightly searing fish stuffed with olives yourself right at the table. With freshly baked bread, it was hard not to keep enjoying more wine. An Accommodation where you can savor such delicious cuisine with your dog and also fully enjoy the Onsen—I’d love to stay again. Thank you for your continued hospitality.

We stayed in the Forest View Semi-Open-Air Onsen Suite under the “Setouchi Retreat Aonagi 10th Anniversary Plan.” After touring Matsuyama, we chose it at my wife’s request as a base for heading to the Shimanami Kaido—and it exceeded our expectations. The building was originally designed by Tadao Ando as an art museum and guesthouse for Daio Paper (Eliere Square Matsuyama), and has been renovated and operated as a Hotel for the past 10 years. With its exceptionally luxurious museum-like design, and with artworks still displayed throughout, we were able to enjoy an extraordinary escape in a serene space with attentive service. Although nearly 30 years have passed since its completion in 1998, Ando’s signature exposed concrete has been beautifully maintained. The way the spaces are carved creates exquisite compositions of light, and you can truly feel the architect’s intent. We visited Ando’s “Saka no Ue no Kumo Museum” before coming here, but this was moving on an entirely different level. The Room layout—one Room per floor—was spacious, with a full glass wall on one side that created an open, seamless connection to the outdoors. The semi-open-air bath also includes a reclining bath area, allowing you to warm up from the core. Including the shared spaces reserved exclusively for just seven groups per day, I don’t know of another Hotel that feels this luxurious while offering such outstanding value. The private pool included as a perk was also a lavish experience; however, I found the sauna temperature too low to work up enough sweat, which was slightly disappointing. Dinner was creative Japanese cuisine from the 10th Anniversary Plan and everything was delicious, but I was especially impressed by the “steamed abalone sesame tofu” served after the main course. There are many great dishes in life, but few make you want to come back just to eat them again—this sesame tofu did. Its texture and perfect pairing with the sesame sauce made me feel it would be worth even a five-hour trip just for that one dish. Breakfast also showed careful craftsmanship in every item. My thanks to the chef. Finally, all staff were wonderful as well—it made for an excellent stay. Thank you very much.

We stayed as a family of four with my parents and our 2-year-old toy poodle. The room was convenient and allowed us to enjoy a relaxing stay. The staff were friendly and made our experience pleasant. Additionally, there was a walking path right next to the hotel, which was very convenient! It was an accommodation we would love to visit again.

Delicious meals With small desserts and complimentary drinks, it’s easy to see why this pension is so popular. Thank you very much.

Fortunately, we were able to visit right when the cherry blossoms were in full bloom. This Accommodation is known for its wonderful hospitality, but since it wasn’t a special anniversary for us and we didn’t need Shuttle Service, we assumed we wouldn’t be particularly moved by the service. However, when we consulted them about something that had been slightly on our minds, they made an incredibly generous offer. It was so unexpected that my husband and I looked at each other like, “Wait—what do you mean?” (laughs). Is this just normal here? We were amazed by kindness beyond belief. The Room was just as spacious and lovely as we had imagined. When we stepped out onto the balcony, a river flowed beyond a neatly trimmed bamboo grove, and we could hear Japanese bush warblers singing. We brought drinks into the large semi-open-air bath and spent an absolutely blissful time there. Aizu sake really is delicious. It’s amazing that you can enjoy as much chilled alcohol as you like in the Room with a single push (three types of sake, plus shochu, wine, and whisky). We asked for smaller portions at dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the carefully prepared local cuisine. By the way, the rolled omelet at breakfast was hands-down the best I’ve ever had. Everything was comfortable, but since the nightwear is Hotel-style loungewear rather than pajamas, those who prefer pajamas may want to bring their own. The next day before breakfast, we visited Tsuruga Castle. In the quiet grounds early in the morning, we fully enjoyed both the magnificent pale-pink cherry blossoms in full bloom and the beautiful castle itself. We felt truly grateful to have come at exactly this time. It was a stay where time seemed to pass far too quickly. Our casual chat with the manager in the tea room was interesting and fun; if only we’d had a bit more time to talk—I would have loved to hear more about Aizu as well. We stopped by some of the shops they recommended us and bought our target sweets and honey before heading home. Thanks to you all, it became a wonderful trip. Thank you very much.

I stayed on the “Spiny Lobster Feast Plan.” True to the Accommodation’s name, the cuisine was beautifully presented and delicious. With each course, they replaced the entire tea set with fresh hot tea, ensuring I could always enjoy it warm, which I truly appreciated. The Room was very clean, and the amenities were well stocked. The bath is a semi-open-air bath. At first, some guests may find it a bit lukewarm, but if you call the front desk, they will promptly raise the temperature. It may be a good idea to check the temperature after check-in. I can see why this Accommodation receives such high ratings from guests. I would love to stay again if I have another opportunity.

A rare Hotel where you can stay with your cat. Since the end of last year, it has switched to an all-inclusive plan: in the shared space on the 3rd floor, draft beer, shochu, coffee, tea, juice, ice cream, sweets, and snacks are all available with unlimited food and drinks. Alcohol and other beverages at dinner are also unlimited. (Some premium wines etc. are available for an additional fee.) The Room has an ocean view with a great outlook—and above all, it’s truly pet-friendly. They provide food bowls, a litter box, a cat tower, and more, and you can bring your pet into the dining area as well. The meals use plenty of carefully selected ingredients; they look beautiful and taste outstanding. We’ll definitely be back.

I chose this Ryokan because it has cats and I thought I could relax with in-Room dining, and it turned out to be a truly satisfying stay. The warm hospitality of the staff, the calm Japanese-style Room, and the Onsen—small yet very relaxing—made everything feel comfortable and welcoming. Both breakfast and dinner were also delicious. The cats I had been looking forward to were all adorable, and they came to visit my Room many times. I was impressed not only by how friendly they were, but also by how well-behaved they were—they didn’t disturb our meals or rummage through our belongings. When I wasn’t feeling well during my stay, the staff kindly helped right away, including laying out my futon for me. Their thoughtful care truly meant a lot. Thanks to them, I felt better by the next morning and was able to fully enjoy sightseeing in Aomori. When I visit Aomori again, I would love to stay here again. Thank you!

This Hotel is outstanding in every way—meals, Room, service, and Facility. They remembered my requests from my previous stay and had everything prepared in advance, so I was able to relax in a comfortable Room with lovely interior design. Dinner is always full of surprises; the dishes go beyond anything I can imagine and are even more delicious than expected. It was a truly luxurious dining experience. The staff’s thoughtful care supported my entire stay, and whenever I visit Hakone, this is the Hotel I want to stay at without fail. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

We had a wonderful day. The staff were excellent. The food was also very delicious. We were completely satisfied—we ate too much. The surprises and thoughtful touches were wonderful. Highly recommended to everyone. We would love to visit again.

The cuisine, staff service, Onsen, and value for money were all absolutely satisfying. Especially the cuisine, featuring Bungo beef and ayu fish along with seasonal ingredients, was truly delicious and impressive. We used this facility to celebrate my mother's birthday, and thanks to your thoughtful arrangements, she was very delighted. I would definitely love to visit again.

We stayed as a family of three with two small dogs in a Room with a private dog run. The Room was spacious, and the non-slip flooring made it safe and comfortable for our dogs. Puppy pads and paw wipes were also provided, which was reassuring. The dog run was covered with wood chips, and our dogs happily played there. There is no large public bath, but the in-room open-air bath has great water quality, so we enjoyed it many times. The meals served in the Room were delicious, and we were able to relax. I think even large dogs could stay here without any issues. There is a 200V charger in the parking lot, but it requires a Reservation and comes with an additional fee. We noticed some footsteps from the second floor until late at night, but since this isn’t an exclusive-use property, that’s understandable. It’s very close to Gora Station, making sightseeing very convenient. The staff were polite and spoke kindly to our dogs—I almost felt bad for how attentive they were. Thank you very much for your wonderful hospitality.

But once you step inside, it feels like another world—like a hidden paradise. It’s a small Ryokan with only seven rooms, so the space is limited, but every detail is thoughtfully crafted, making it comfortable wherever you are. I arrived after 3:00 PM via the Shuttle Service, and then spent a luxurious afternoon—gently swaying in the egg-shaped swing chair on my Room terrace, absentmindedly watching the fields with a beer in hand, and hopping between private baths. When I headed to my private dining room for dinner, the charming space lit by the fireplace glow felt wonderfully magical—I was truly moved. And the food was just as impressive—so delicious it made me want to return just for the meals. The Onsen was outstanding, and the service was warm. It’s not overly attentive in an intrusive way, but everything is perfectly balanced and genuinely relaxing. I’m sincerely grateful. The cats, Uni-chan and Shio-chan, were friendly and absolutely adorable. It was truly wonderful—I had such a happy time.

It was a wonderful Accommodation that let us enjoy a little luxury. The in-room bath was perfect in temperature, size, and depth. We chose the sake-steamed abalone, and it was also absolutely delicious. The Room was a maisonette type, but I wished the sofa on the first floor had been on the second floor—probably due to space constraints. In any case, we were extremely satisfied. Thank you very much.

This was my first time staying at Ancient in Karuizawa to enjoy the autumn leaves. Thank you for providing such a relaxing experience that made me forget the flow of time during my stay. The Onsen temperature was just right, and the smooth water left my skin feeling soft and moisturized. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious, visually appealing, and gentle on the body—truly satisfying meals. I would love to visit again in a different season. One small disappointment was that the provided amenities were foreign-made, which I found unsuitable for my sensitive skin; I’m glad I brought my own products. It would also be great if a higher-grade hairdryer could be provided in the future.

A two-night trip to Kyushu. We stayed in Beppu the first night, and booked this Accommodation in Yufuin for the second night. Based on Reviews and other information, we chose Yufunoshou from several highly rated Accommodations. The meals are handled by the head chef alone, and the staff moved efficiently; thanks to their perfect timing, we were able to enjoy hot dishes while they were still hot. The standout was the sesame tofu—so delicious that I honestly wondered which was better: this one or the sesame tofu made by my aunt (a temple wife) over my 65 years of life. It was so exceptional I wanted to take some home as a souvenir. As for the baths, not only was the rock bath in our Room wonderful, but we also used two private open-air baths—both with excellent water quality. After dinner we used “Milky Way,” and while soaking in the reclining bath and looking up at the night sky, I was moved by how beautiful the stars were. The service from check-in to check-out was flawless. In particular, at check-out I was surprised when I was asked to pay for our stay. When I mentioned that I had made an Online Credit Card Payment, they said it had not been processed; when I checked my Reservation status myself, it indeed showed unpaid. They asked us to pay once on-site and kindly explained that if IKYU.com later also charged us and it became a double charge, they would issue a refund if we contacted them. Their response felt fair and reassuring, so we left calmly. We received hospitality well worth the price of our stay.
