Hostel Gion SORA

I chose this accommodation for a 10-night stay because it was affordable. The toilet and bathroom are shared, but having a private room at this price is greatly appreciated. The location is excellent, very close to Chion-in Temple, and within walking distance of Gion-Shijo and Heian Palace (I even walked to Ginkaku-ji). The hostess is available from around 9 AM to 9 PM, which provides peace of mind. The room and bathroom are clean, and both the hostess and guests are friendly, making the stay very comfortable. In the dining area, there’s a toaster, microwave, hot/cold water dispenser for simple cooking needs. Complimentary coffee and tea are also provided—I enjoyed relaxing breakfasts every day. Highly recommended!

The accommodation was perfect for me, as I only needed a place to sleep. It was very affordable, and the bath, bed, and shared areas were clean and well-maintained. The matcha service at check-in gave a nice Kyoto touch, and being able to enjoy Ogawa Coffee on my own was also great. I would definitely like to stay here again if I have the chance.
