Aso Hakuun Sanso

We stayed here as two older women traveling together. The location was easy to find—using Google Maps navigation, it was right after getting off at the Fukkou Road Kuruma-gaeri IC. The area is flat and has a simple, rustic feel, and since the signs and building didn’t stand out much, we almost drove past because we couldn’t find the entrance.The grounds were spacious, and the parking area was easy to use. The building still felt new and was very clean. Both inside and outside had minimal decoration and a simple style; it felt a bit plain in places, but since it’s called a “mountain lodge” rather than a “Hotel,” I think that’s fine. In return, the view from the Room was amazing!!Our Room was on the 3rd floor, so nothing blocked our view, and we could fully enjoy the magnificent scenery of the Aso caldera rim mountains. We were truly moved!! However, the next morning clouds covered the mountains, so we couldn’t see the sunrise coming up over them, which was very disappointing.Both dinner and breakfast were buffet-style. There was a wide variety of dishes; even though I intended to eat only until I was about 80% full, everything looked so good that I kept reaching for more—and ended up completely full. Everything really was delicious.The Onsen water was slightly hot but very pleasant. After bathing my skin stayed moisturized for a long time, and even the next day it didn’t feel dry at all. Truly worthy of being called “beautifying waters.”The Facility felt clean throughout, and all staff were very kind, so we were extremely satisfied. Thank you for taking such good care of us.If we have another chance, we would love to stay again.

I have used this place several times since its opening, and I am satisfied with the service, food, facilities, and pricing. The room was clean, and this time it was on the Mt. Aso side; however, the view from the outer rim side during my previous stay was also great. I would love to stay here again.
