Yakushima Green Hotel

Stayed for three nights from March 27. It’s a 10-minute drive to Yakusugi Nature Museum, the bus stop for the Arakawa trailhead. Boxed lunches are available for pickup from 4:05 a.m.; even after picking one up, we still had plenty of time to park and catch the first bus. If you request by 7:00 p.m. the day before, breakfast can be switched to two boxed meals (for morning and lunch). There’s also an outdoor tap at the entrance for washing hiking boots, which is very convenient for trekkers. I thought Shiratani Unsuikyo might be a bit far, but it’s just under an hour by car, so we could still eat breakfast at the Hotel and make it in time to park on the road near the lot. If you arrive late there, you may end up parking much farther away on the roadside, so switching to a boxed meal is a good option if you want to park closer to the entrance.All staff were kind and explained parking and hiking-bus information clearly. Meals focus on seafood and pork, with satisfying taste and portions. There are also nearby options such as Mountain Taro rentals, A-Coop, and a Japanese restaurant called “Umi no Megumi.” Our Room was on the first floor but had an ocean view—we fell asleep listening to the waves.Thank you for your hospitality. Thanks to you, we were able to visit both Jomon Sugi and Taiko-iwa Rock.

The Accommodation staff are extremely kind. On this remote island, getting around becomes difficult after 7:00 PM. Even in such situations, the Accommodation staff helped us. We are also very grateful for their kind support even with a late-night meal. Since the Room has wooden flooring, it may be a good idea to bring your own slippers. Of course, the Room is properly cleaned.
