Comfort Inn Niigata Kameda

I stayed in a Double Standard room. The room was more than spacious enough for solo use. The bathroom and toilet felt a bit small. The building has an older, well-worn feel, but it is very well cleaned. Among Business Hotels, I think the mattress quality is particularly good. All the staff I met during my stay were kind and helpful. Perhaps due to rising prices, breakfast is now charged separately. The selection is limited, but the quality feels high. Freshly baked waffles seem to be their highlight, with toppings such as Hershey’s caramel and chocolate sauce and non-hydrogenated spray whipped cream. They also had orange juice (which has become expensive lately), curry with adjustable spice level, and granola. I believe they even offered butter rather than margarine by the bread. The amazake cheesecake—something that seems costly—was displayed in small quantities and appeared to be replenished as needed. I appreciated the effort to reduce waste without lowering quality. If you expect an all-you-can-eat buffet with an overwhelming variety like a Resort Hotel, you may be disappointed. Still, these days you can’t get breakfast of this quality for 1,000 yen even at a convenience store, so I recommend it even as a paid option.

The most impressive aspect was the staff's hospitality. During check-in, check-out, going out, and breakfast, we interacted with about 4-5 staff members, all of whom provided traditional and impeccable service. It reminded me of the excellent customer service Japan is known for and left me feeling refreshed. We have stayed here several times since before the pandemic, but this time it felt like the best team of staff yet. Although it was disappointing that breakfast is now charged separately, the variety has increased significantly, which made us very satisfied. If I may add a suggestion: we felt that the toilet space could be slightly larger to make it perfect for us. My partner kept bumping into things every time he used it (laughs). It seems quite narrow for men; however, I understand that this might be to allocate more space to the Room itself. Overall, we love this Hotel and will definitely stay again in the future.
