Auberge Homachi Mikuni Minato

The experience was already moving even before we arrived at the auberge. They remembered a casual conversation from the car ride to pick us up, stopped by the famous local sweets shop we mentioned, and even took us to a public bath fed by the Awara Onsen source.They also kindly came all the way to pick us up when we missed our train back from the bathhouse. The thoughtful care and warmth of both wonderful hosts truly touched our hearts. It made us realize what true hospitality really is.Dinner was absolutely outstanding. The chef—whom we had previously encountered twice at a Hotel in Kitashinchi—did not disappoint; every dish was exquisite. Each plate was beautiful, delicate, and unforgettable in flavor.This time we chose the five-glass pairing and enjoyed champagne, rosé, white wine, red wine, and sake. Conversation with the sommelier (one of our hosts) was also a delight, and every drink complemented the food perfectly—pairings that made us genuinely think, “This is delicious.”We are simply grateful for such a deeply fulfilling time. This is a special auberge that we will definitely return to and wholeheartedly recommend to loved ones.If I could make one request: in the private villa-style Room, the toilet is located right next to the sink. It may be unavoidable due to the layout, but it did require a bit of consideration for privacy. If there is any room for improvement in the future, it would make the stay even more comfortable.Even so, nothing can diminish how moving this stay was. At the front desk upon arrival, we enjoyed a welcome drink such as local Fukui sake and a plum drink, and the Room was so relaxing it felt like staying at home. The kettle, hair dryer, and other amenities provided were also the latest models, making our stay very comfortable. The main dinner truly lived up to Mr. Yoshino’s restaurant—everything from the appetizers to dessert was exciting and absolutely delicious. We felt it would be even better if there were an Onsen to soothe our bodies after a long drive.
