    I stayed here during...

    I stayed here during my Shikoku pilgrimage. Meals are available at the on-site restaurant. It’s not a luxurious Onsen Ryokan, but the portions were just right and everything was tasty. The Onsen water was great, but it can get quite crowded since it’s also open to non-staying guests. The lockers are small as well, which makes it feel cramped. My Room had a Goemon-style bath, but it was too cold to use. It’s best to make your Reservation with the season in mind.

    It was a wonderful accommodation. The meals were delicious, and the room was very clean and comfortable. We booked an anniversary plan, and after dinner, we received a fruit platter as a gift. It became a memorable Shikoku trip for our 30th wedding anniversary. All the staff were kind and lovely. Thank you so much! We would love to stay here again.

    It was a quiet and relaxing stay. The onsen is open to the public, but it wasn't too crowded, allowing us to fully enjoy the onsen experience.

    Enjoy Onsen to the Fullest

    An accommodation with an onsen facility. While the building and rooms show some signs of aging, they are well-cleaned and comfortable. There is a garden in the center of the accommodation building, perfect for a short stroll after enjoying the onsen. The onsen facility features spacious indoor and open-air baths, allowing you to fully relax and enjoy. Dinner is served in a relatively new, spacious restaurant with a wide variety of delicious dishes.

    The meals and Onsen were excellent for the cost.

    It felt more like a simple accommodation with an onsen rather than a ryokan or hotel, but we were amazed by the luxurious meals and the excellent quality of the onsen water. While it seemed difficult to match the serving pace to our dining speed, this is a wonderful accommodation for those who prefer not to expect excessive service and simply enjoy a comfortable time. We could feel their warm hospitality, and our whole family was delighted.

    We stayed as a couple from October 22nd to 23rd.

    We arrived around 4 PM on a rainy day, but there was no one to greet us, and we were unsure where to park, so we parked somewhat randomly. It would have been better if there had been more guidance. Upon entering the lobby, the sofas were stained and so dirty that I hesitated to place my luggage on them. Naturally, I didn’t sit down either. The staff at the front desk provided good service and gave clear guidance about the Facility. However, on the way from the front desk to our Room through the bar & café area, there was an indescribable smell; a gentler scent would have been preferable. The Room was clean and comfortable for our stay. However, as mentioned in other Reviews, I noticed loud drainage sounds from what seemed like the bathroom rather than just the toilet—it was quite noticeable. The meals were delicious both in the morning and evening with just the right portions. However, it felt odd that items like tempura meant to be eaten warm were served too early during dinner. All of your staff members provided excellent service and made us feel very welcome. If given another opportunity, I would definitely like to return again. Thank you very much! Lastly—though I forgot to mention earlier—I received a call from your Facility about three days before our stay to Check Reservation details with polite communication that left me pleasantly surprised!

    The meals were carefully prepared.

    As I get older, I have come to appreciate the small thoughtful touches of a Ryokan. This Ryokan, in particular, had carefully prepared dishes with excellent taste and presentation. The downside was that it was larger than expected and seemed to accommodate group guests as well, so the Onsen and other areas were quite crowded, which surprised me.

    Beware of insects.

    Upon entering the Room, I was immediately bitten by a large mosquito. When I informed the front desk, they mentioned that electronic mosquito repellents were placed in the Room. While there were indeed two devices in the Room, they were not turned on. It would be appreciated if the devices were powered on after Room cleaning and before guests check in. The itching made me feel unwell until after dinner. There was no apology, and I was simply told that there are many insects, which left me speechless. As someone else mentioned, the parking lot in front of the Hotel was full upon arrival, and it was unclear where to park. For over 50,000 yen per night for two people, the value for money is poor, and I don’t think I will return. The breakfast was also disappointing, with overly salty pickled items. A praying mantis also appeared in the Room.

    Friendly service, three types of Onsen, and delicious meals

    We stayed for one night to go camping at the Shimanto River. Despite being aware that we might have caused some inconvenience by sending our camping gear to the Hotel in advance, the staff provided us with very kind and attentive service. The delicious meals and three types of Onsen helped us relax and recover from the fatigue of traveling, allowing us to fully enjoy our camping experience. Thank you very much!

    We stayed here for one night while looking for accommodation in Shimanto City that could accommodate three people. The loft had two beds, and the Japanese-style room had a futon for one person. It was spacious and comfortable. The cottage-style design was unique, but it was well-built with no noise from other guests. The facility shows some age but provides a comfortable space to relax. It was nice that bath baskets with different designs were prepared for each guest. The onsen water was smooth and pleasant. However, the locker keys were difficult to lock properly, so this could be improved. Although the onsen is also used as a day spa, it seemed to be mostly reserved for overnight guests from evening until morning. The meals were not overly extravagant but served in just the right portions. Breakfast was simple yet delicious, featuring rice and dishes that paired well with it. There is also a lounge bar where you can enjoy coffee after meals. The staff were kind and helpful, making this accommodation very relaxing overall.

    Accommodation Surrounded by Nature

    The room offers a view of the sea and is surrounded by trees, allowing you to feel close to nature at this accommodation. Dinner was extremely delicious, and breakfast was perfectly portioned and very tasty as well. Although we arrived quite tired from the heat and long journey, the onsen and meals rejuvenated us by the next morning, making our trip enjoyable. The staff were kind and very accommodating.

    Enjoy breathtaking views.

    A short walk from the accommodation at the mouth of the Shimanto River leads to a vast park where you can enjoy views of Tosa Bay. In the morning, you can admire the sunrise, and at night, marvel at a sky full of stars. Meals feature an abundance of delicacies from Kochi, and sake tasting adds to the enjoyment of Kochi's offerings. The Onsen is spacious and provides a relaxing experience, making it an excellent accommodation choice.

    Onsen is excellent.

    The room was quite old and not very comfortable, but the bath was amazing with silky smooth water for beautiful skin. Next time, I plan to reserve a newer room.

    A fantastic Ryokan with great value for money.

    I chose this accommodation near Nakamura Station on IKYU while planning a trip to explore the Shimanto River. Honestly, the description on the reservation site didn’t particularly appeal to me, and I thought, “As long as I have a place to stay, it’s fine.” However, upon arrival, I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable and beautiful this accommodation turned out to be. It takes about 30 minutes by bus from Nakamura Station with limited bus services. On a whim, I requested shuttle service (though prior reservation is usually required), and luckily they were available at that moment and came to pick me up right away. After arriving, I was promptly guided to my room with a loft. The view from the room was excellent, and there were walking paths around the accommodation where you could enjoy stunning views of the Pacific Ocean from elevated spots. Due to time constraints during this visit, I couldn’t explore much but believe it might even be possible to walk down to the coastline. The meals featured an abundance of fresh seafood and offered great value for money—very satisfying overall. The large communal bath included seawater onsen with various thoughtful touches that made it enjoyable. Overall, this ryokan exceeded my expectations in a good way—a fantastic place offering excellent cost performance!

    Overall, the accommodation cost is relatively high.

    Stayed in a maisonette-type accommodation for three people. The atmosphere of the Japanese-modern room was pleasant. Dinner was kaiseki cuisine, and the food was delicious, but the service during meal delivery was lacking. Plates from finished dishes were not cleared before bringing out the next course, and even when requested to clear them first, they insisted on placing the next dishes around them, which left us speechless. The Onsen had an alkaline spring quality that felt smooth and beneficial for the skin. However, it seemed to be heavily used by non-guests as well, making it feel like a day-use Onsen facility rather than a private experience for staying guests. This made it difficult to fully relax and enjoy. Considering the service and shared use of facilities with non-guests, this stay felt overpriced overall.

    The distance between the keyhole and lever makes it difficult to unlock the Room with one hand. The entrance area is small and inconvenient when opening the door. The TV is also small and can only be viewed from the bed, while the chair is not comfortable to sit on. Despite being located on elevated terrain, the view is not good, which I believe reflects poor design overall.

    The Best Starry Sky

    I was truly healed by the breathtaking starry sky. I only had breakfast, but all the side dishes perfectly matched the rice, and I ended up having three servings. The white rice was incredibly delicious. When I visit Shimanto again, I will definitely stay here!

    Relaxing Accommodation

    We stayed for one night on Friday, April 4th, as a couple. The location was excellent, and while the building and Room showed some age, everything was very clean and comfortable. From check-in to mealtime, the polite and pleasant service made our stay enjoyable. The meals were delicious with a focus on local ingredients, and the white rice made from Niida rice was exceptional—I even had seconds twice! We would love to stay here again if we have the chance.

    Glad to complete the Reservation.

    I stayed in late March. First, I was lucky to secure a room with an open-air bath, which was wonderful. The front desk and staff were friendly and attentive, providing excellent hospitality. Despite the heavy rain, I had a comfortable time inside the accommodation. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, especially the rice, which was so good that I ended up having seconds. The baths were spacious and relaxing; I enjoyed them twice at night and used the open-air bath in my room in the morning for a fulfilling one-night stay. The boatman of the houseboat recommended visiting Shimanto River in winter, so I plan to visit again during that season next time. Since this is a popular accommodation, I'll make plans early to complete the reservation ahead of time.

    Enjoy delicious food and relaxing Onsen.

    Stayed for one night with dinner and breakfast included. Arrived by bus, though the narrow streets leading to the location were a bit concerning, it was easy to find upon arrival. The "Front Desk" sign led us to what was actually labeled as "General Information," which could be confusing and should be renamed. The room was modern, but the balcony view was obstructed by trees right in front, limiting visibility. It might also attract many insects depending on the season. The Onsen had a pleasant texture and feel; however, it was surprising how many day-use guests there were. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious! However, breakfast seemed to have fewer side dishes, which might not satisfy younger guests fully.

    I had a relaxing stay.

    The room had high ceilings, a simple design, and a warm wooden touch, allowing us to relax as a couple. As for the facility, the vending machine was out of order, making it inconvenient to buy drinks easily, so I deducted one point. The onsen was spacious and not too crowded, perhaps due to the rain. We thoroughly enjoyed it, including the open-air bath! The food was also very delicious. Although it's far and not easy to visit often, I would love to come back again and recommend this accommodation to friends visiting Kochi! Thank you very much.

    It was very cold when I entered the Room. It took time for the Room to warm up. The sauna was not very hot, but the cold bath was too cold to enter, however, the bath was very nice. The breakfast was also delicious.

    I have stayed here many times.

    I stayed at the property for the first time in a year the other day, and when I called to reserve a table at the restaurant and mentioned my name, they remembered me and said, "Oh! Thank you for always coming!" I went with my 9-month-old grandchild, and they safely set up the tatami room for us, which was very helpful. The food was also very delicious, and we were very satisfied every time. All the staff are friendly and respond with smiles. The facility is very comfortable, and the courtyard is truly breathtaking. I almost want to live there! Also, there is a café bar called Bodai Tree (Bodaiju) in the courtyard, which was a very stylish and relaxing space. It's very unfortunate that it is currently closed. The open-air bath is the best among the various places I've stayed. It feels like being in the forest! There were times when a rabbit suddenly appeared! I also encountered one in the courtyard! The lighting is also wonderful, and it's truly my favorite stay. If I could be a little selfish, I would wish for the reopening of the café bar and the return of the soothing music in the open-air bath. If that wish were granted, it would be such a wonderful property that I would want to give it 120 points, no, 200 points!

    It was good.

    Overall, I was satisfied, but the door to the bedroom was broken and didn't close properly. Some of the bathroom amenities were out of stock, which was disappointing. The food was very delicious, and the staff's service was courteous.

    We stayed as a family. The Ryokan's Facility was clean and well-maintained, allowing us to have a comfortable stay. However, the Room was small. It felt cramped for a family of three. Although the location is good, it was disappointing that we couldn't see the Shimanto River or the sea. The food was delicious and we were very satisfied. The grilled sweetfish was a luxury. Among them, the river shrimp was the best!!

    Stays on the hill at the mouth of the Shimanto River

    The room is adequately equipped, so it feels neither good nor bad. A regular Japanese set breakfast is provided. Also, the quality of the Onsen water is good, but it gets quite crowded with day-trip visitors. Therefore, it is better to use the Onsen large bath during times when there are fewer day-trip guests.

    A lodging with beautiful starry skies

    It is located a little away from the city of Shimanto, and it is quiet. The atmosphere was very nice. The hot springs seemed to be frequently used by locals as well. The open-air seawater bath had a slightly sweet scent that was soothing. It would be even better if there were selectable shampoo bottles in the large public bath. The post-bath corner was well-equipped, and I was happy to be able to purchase bottled coffee milk and ice cream from Kochi. As everyone says, the rice at breakfast was very delicious, and I ended up having seconds twice! We were traveling with a child in early elementary school and a kindergartener, and they were very satisfied as they could fish at a nearby fishing port, pick up beautiful stones at Hirano Beach (swimming is not possible due to high waves, but they could splash their feet on the sandy beach), and play at a park with lots of playground equipment about a 5-minute walk from the inn! Shopping was not inconvenient as a 15-minute drive by car would take you to the city center. If I had to say, the lack of a coin laundry at the inn was a bit inconvenient. (There is one in the city center) However, the room was spacious and we could relax, so we were very satisfied. I would love to stay again.

    The hot spring water was smooth and nice.

    The hot spring water felt like a true hot spring experience, leaving my skin smooth after bathing. The food was delicious, especially the rice. The downside was that during dinner, the dishes were already set before we sat down, which diminished my appetite for the sashimi and meat. If the dishes had been brought after we were seated, my appetite might have been better.
