Mt. Resort Unzen Kyushu Hotel

It was an outstanding Hotel where we could fully enjoy the breathtaking views of Unzen Jigoku.Usually, stopping by a convenience store on the way to a Hotel to buy snacks and drinks feels like a hassle. However, Kyushu Hotel has lounges on the 2nd and 6th floors, and with all-inclusive service, it truly felt like pure happiness. My husband enjoyed a beer before dinner. Even though I have an alcohol allergy, they had 100% apple and mandarin orange juice, which made me very satisfied. There were also vending machines in the Accommodation building, so we were able to spend our time comfortably.We stayed on the 5th floor. All Rooms are spacious at around 70 square meters, with a thoughtfully designed layout for comfort. When you enter the Room, you take off your shoes, and right next to that is a walk-in closet with shelving where you can open and place your suitcase—perfect for changing clothes there as well. There is also a full wall mirror; I have never seen such a closet in any other Hotel. It is truly luxurious space, and I really appreciated it.Beyond the Japanese-style area and beds, there was an L-shaped sofa with just the right firmness. From there you can overlook Unzen Jigoku—it made me want to take a deep breath—and it was such a relaxing space. How luxurious! Next to this area there is terrace seating where you can enjoy both the pleasant breeze and panoramic views of Unzen Jigoku. My husband seemed especially happy because he could smoke there.The bathroom area was separated well; even the toilet was in its own private room, so it doesn’t disturb others even when someone is bathing.I was impressed by how considerate the designer must have been. What an incredible Hotel they built—truly amazing.It’s a Hotel I want to visit again and again.For meals, you can choose Japanese or Western cuisine. I prefer Japanese food but don’t like rice with raw egg (tamago kake gohan). They kindly prepared sea bream sashimi instead of raw egg, and I enjoyed it as tai chazuke—it was delicious. The other dishes were also tasty; however, there weren’t many warm items overall, so I felt chilled. I would have liked more dishes served hot.The gentleman assisting guests at the 2nd-floor lounge was very kind—he even taught us how to play some games—so we had a great time.Thank you very much.

The atmosphere is wonderful, and the Hotel’s overall service is excellent. In the evening, complimentary alcoholic drinks and cocktails are served in the lounge, so you can truly relax. The food is also delicious. I think it’s a Hotel worth visiting at least once in a lifetime. I’m glad I went.
