Hama Zen Ryokan: Inn with Semi-Open-Air Baths in All Guest Rooms

My child and I stayed here together. We arrived early, so they kindly let us park first, and we took a break at the cute cafe across the street. Exploring the nearby alleys was also fun. When it was time, we checked in and headed to our Room through a charming corridor with lots of atmosphere. The Room was very clean, as if it had been renovated. The free-flowing Onsen was very spacious, and the ceramic frog and rabbit decorations were soothing. The meals were delicious—there was more than we could possibly eat, but we finished everything. Breakfast also had a wide variety of dishes, and my child—who is used to buffet-style breakfasts—was very satisfied. Also, when we ordered the local specialty chikuwa the day before, it arrived freshly grilled in the morning, which was great. And the staff’s Kumamoto dialect was wonderful. We would love to visit again.

I visited because my mother wanted to go to an Onsen.We chose this place because we could enjoy the Onsen anytime without worrying about the time, and we heard the food was delicious.We were told the water was on the warm side, but they kindly explained that we could adjust it by adding hot water.Since I like to relax and enjoy the Onsen for a long time, it was perfect for me.I also felt the temperature would be suitable for families with small children.It was also the season when banpeiyu citrus is placed in the bath, which gave a special atmosphere unique to Hinagu Onsen.Both dinner and breakfast offered a wide variety of dishes, and we really enjoyed them.In particular, the non-alcoholic Banpeiyu Mojito Soda drink was delicious!The staff were very friendly, and we had a wonderful time.I’d love to visit again.
