Hotel Tenbo

I stayed here for a friend’s birthday.The food was delicious, and the place was spacious and wonderful!Above all, the Onsen had a great variety, was clean, and helped me feel refreshed!However, it was a bit disappointing to find some hair in the Room and one of the lights wasn’t working.Other than that, I had a really great stay!Thank you very much!Next time I come back, I’d like to stay in a larger Room!

After many years, I visited this accommodation again, having been there multiple times in my youth with my aunts. Entering the lobby with memories of the past, I was surprised by how luxurious it had become. The lobby featured a giant screen showing an educational video, a museum-like high-end library, foot baths, souvenir shops, and more. The effort to improve was evident throughout the hotel.This time we stayed in a Premium Room to celebrate my husband's birthday and chose the carefully curated Kaiseki dinner at Yunohana-tei. Yunohana-tei felt like dining at a high-class ryokan restaurant. Unlike some luxury ryokans that use cheaper ingredients disguised as gourmet dishes through technique, this dinner used plenty of premium ingredients and exuded true luxury. Even typically dry king crab was prepared deliciously. The thoughtful gestures for my husband's birthday made us genuinely happy.The large public bath has always been well-regarded but now features even more types of baths and has become even more impressive.Breakfast is likely served buffet-style for all rooms, which might explain why it is categorized as casual accommodation. However, raising breakfast standards along with room rates to transform into an entirely high-end hotel might take away Tenbo's approachable charm.Seeing young couples with small children enjoying themselves or hearing lively groups added to the cheerful atmosphere—this diversity among guests seems to be one of Tenbo's unique qualities. Relaxing in the lobby lounge with complimentary drinks made for a pleasant time.In the past, my aunts always recommended Tenbo when visiting Ikaho Onsen; back then I simply followed along without much thought. Now I understand why they were so enthusiastic about it—it’s an accommodation where you can choose your experience: simple rooms and buffets for casual stays or premium rooms and fine dining for luxury experiences—all designed to satisfy everyone in their own way after decades apart from this place!
