Pet-Friendly Shirahama Onsen Bay Lily National Lodge

Staying with a dog comes with various restrictions, but Bay Lily National Lodge was very accommodating.Right outside the entrance is a dog run, dogs are allowed freely in the Room, and they are welcome in the dining hall as well. Pee pads, poop bags, and deodorizing spray are also provided.We have multiple dogs, but we were able to stay comfortably and with peace of mind.We enjoyed delicious meals and the Onsen too—very satisfied.The building is old, but it is kept very clean, perhaps because there are many female staff members.I happened to catch a glimpse of the Room being cleaned after checkout, and they carefully used a lint roller on the bedding.I would definitely like to stay again.Thank you very much.

The sashimi arrived on a boat. The other dishes were also very delicious, and the portions were generous. We were able to dine at the restaurant with our dog as well, and the hostess and staff chatted with us. The Onsen is a high-temperature free-flowing natural spring with a slight sulfur smell and a mildly salty taste. The water feels silky-smooth, but it’s so hot that you need to dilute it with tap water—unfortunately. The spring may be flowing too strongly. This was my first time at Shirahama Onsen, and it was great; the water quality may be exceptional. The next day I visited “Saki-no-Yu,” which was outstanding—seemingly the same type of spring. There is no yunohana (mineral sediment). You can really enjoy both the Onsen and the meals here, though the building is old.
