Atarashiya Ryokan

Anyway, the wild boar hot pot was absolutely delicious. The rice porridge to finish was on a completely different level from any I’ve ever had—I was genuinely amazed that something could taste that good!Breakfast was also fantastic, and I went back for seconds (and more). The after-meal dessert was great too, and I really appreciated that they served coffee in a lidded paper cup so we could take it with us.Everything was thoroughly cleaned and spotless, and our family of four was able to relax and enjoy our time.We took this trip to celebrate our younger son’s birthday, and because our older son is starting his new job and moving out, so it became a truly wonderful family memory.Thank you very much!

From the moment we stepped into the beautifully maintained, spotlessly polished building, we could feel a wonderfully pleasant atmosphere—this was a truly lovely Accommodation. The gentle warmth of the wood-burning stove in the shared space and the kotatsu set up in our Room were so comfortable that we wanted to relax there forever. However, since there was a heavy smoker among the guests, we were bothered by smoke in the shared space, which was a bit disappointing.We chose the kaiseki meal, and everything—especially the salt-grilled ayu, wild boar suki-ni, and tofu—was absolutely delicious. The simmered dish was more like “hmm…,” so I thought it might have been better not to include that course at all. Next time, we’ll go with the botan nabe!We enjoyed the Onsen three times and relaxed until just before checkout because everything was so comfortable—this may have been our first trip where we could truly take it this easy… And it’s all thanks to everyone’s warm hospitality: the wonderful young proprietress with her dignified presence, and (your father?) who shared fascinating stories about Atarashiya’s history and Dorogawa Onsen’s history, as well as all of your staff. Thank you very much for everything.*Lastly, the kaki-mochi prepared in our Room was unbelievably delicious—we couldn’t resist buying some to take home.*
