Yunokawa Kanko Hotel Shouen

A luxurious large Hotel that evokes Japan’s bubble-era glamour. The Hotel is beautifully maintained and doesn’t feel old at all.The lavish Onsen, with alternating men’s and women’s hours, offers three temperature options—hot, medium, and lukewarm. The large open-air bath is just the right temperature, so you can stay in for ages. Both the shower pressure and facilities were also well maintained.I always order draft beer and chilled sake with dinner, but this time they were free—so it felt like I got a two-meal stay for about 6,000 yen, cheaper than a capsule hotel.The dinner and breakfast buffets have plenty of variety and will leave you full, but they don’t offer premium items like salmon roe, squid, or steak like some other hotels. Considering the price, that’s only fair—so if you’re expecting a lavish meal experience, I’d recommend another Hotel.In the end, I’m puzzled why this Hotel isn’t rated higher. Yunokawa has many great hotels as well—but they’re in a different price range.For the price, this place deserves more than full marks. I was extremely satisfied. Thank you!

I stayed solo for a 2-night Multiple Night Stay Plan. My previous stay was so great that I came back again.This time I chose a Japanese-Western style Room, and they assigned me a corner Room—absolutely the best! It was spacious enough to feel like a waste for just one person, and the seaside view from the windows on three sides was stunning. I never got tired of it over the two days. It’s easy to access from both the airport and the station, and I really appreciate that there is Shuttle Service to and from Hakodate Station.The Onsen also has everything you need, including free-flowing natural hot spring water and an open-air bath. As long as you don’t overlap with large tour groups, it doesn’t feel very crowded, so you can enjoy it comfortably. A sauna and cold bath would make it even better, but I was more than satisfied even without them. It also helped to have a water dispenser in the changing area.The food didn’t feel that different from my stay two years ago (lol), but in a good way—it has a wide variety, which I really like. Given that this is Itoen and considering the price point, this is more than enough. Having sushi is also a nice touch. The staff worked efficiently, and replenishment seemed well managed. I sometimes see negative Reviews about the food, but honestly it makes me wonder if people know what they’re booking. If someone wants luxury dining, they should simply pay more and go to another high-end Hotel. What matters here is being able to enjoy all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink at this low price—soaking in the Onsen while enjoying unlimited food and drinks (including draft beer). That alone makes staying at Itoen Hotels worthwhile.During meals only, there seemed to be quite a few Chinese tour groups, but outside of the dining area and front desk I didn’t see them much. I didn’t run into them in the baths at all either—it was quiet with mostly individual guests, which was great.With multiple nights you have time around midday on day two, so I enjoyed karaoke during hours when you can’t use the Onsen. I was very satisfied being able to use a nice private room with up-to-date equipment for free.My only regret is that there’s only one Itoen Hotel location in Hokkaido—this one. I hope they expand to more Onsen areas and major cities in the future. This is one of my favorite Hotels in Hakodate, so I’d love to visit again when I get another chance. Thank you very much.
