Nishimuraya Honkan

All the staff we met greeted us with smiles at all times, making this a truly pleasant Ryokan. At Hirata Sukiya, which we had heard was well worth seeing, we were able to enjoy a museum-like sense of luxury. The in-Room bath was wonderful as well, but we think it would have been even better if it had been Onsen water rather than heated water. The crab-focused meals were excellent both morning and evening, and we were able to spend a blissful time. It was a memorable Ryokan with everything coming together perfectly, and even now the two of us keep saying over and over, “Amazing—so good.” Thank you very much.

After connecting flights from Tokyo, my mother and I stayed here together. At Nishimuraya, we felt a wonderful blend of “the charm of a good old Ryokan” and “modern convenience.”1) Staff service The staff picked up on our needs from our conversations and demeanor, responding accurately and promptly. In particular, when I was looking for a hair cap in the bath area and when we couldn’t lock the Room properly from the outside, they noticed right away and helped immediately—my mother was truly moved. Although many of the staff were young, everyone worked earnestly, and their sincerity and diligence really came through.2) Guest room Everything we needed was provided, so we never felt inconvenienced at all. When the futons were laid out, the bedside light had an outlet built in, allowing us to charge our smartphones within reach—an impressively thoughtful touch. The TV was also connected to Wi‑Fi so we could enjoy Netflix, which made the up-to-date amenities especially appealing.3) Meals We had the full-course local Matsuba crab meal, and it was the most memorable crab we’ve ever had—both my mother and I were deeply impressed. The Tajima beef was equally flavorful with an excellent sauce pairing; thanks to careful hidden knife work, it was easy to enjoy even with chopsticks. The white rice was also outstanding—we ended up eating too much at both dinner and breakfast.4) Evening alcohol free-flow Only red and white wine were offered; if local sake from nearby breweries were also available, it would help guests feel even more of the region’s charm. We would be happy if you would consider this in the future.This is an Accommodation I had hoped to visit “someday” for 15 years, so having that wish come true made for a truly wonderful experience. It may be difficult to visit often due to the distance from Tokyo, but we would love to return again.
