    Good

The Room was on the 27th floor. We chose a city-view Room. The view was amazing, and we were able to bring in an outside balloon decorator for a surprise for my girlfriend, which made her very happy. I’m glad we chose the Yokohama Continental Hotel. There are restaurants and room service, so you can stay without any trouble regarding meals. Everything was clean, the shower and bath had plenty of hot water, and I had no issues using the shampoo and other amenities. What was inconvenient: I couldn’t find where the front desk was when coming from the parking lot. At check-in, I ended up waiting while holding a lot of luggage. It seems there is also a service to carry luggage to the Room, but around 4:00 PM it would take about 20 minutes, so I gave up. The number to call the front desk from inside the Room was hard to understand. Drinks in the in-room refrigerator are charged. Even if there were complimentary items, it wasn’t clear how to tell them apart. The hair dryer wasn’t powerful enough. As for lounge snacks, compared with other Hotels I’ve stayed at and past Reviews, they felt a bit lacking. However, it wasn’t crowded and I could use it calmly. If you don’t expect too much service-wise, it’s an excellent Hotel with a great location.

Thank you for the relaxing time.

A comfortable Room, a wonderful view, delicious cuisine, and your warm hospitality—thank you always. This time there were a couple of minor misunderstandings, but the Guest Service Center’s prompt and excellent support reassured me once again that this is a Hotel where I can stay with complete peace of mind. As always, it makes me truly happy when I’m greeted by name at the entrance. Right after returning home, I made my next Reservation—I’m sincerely looking forward to it.

    Continental is the best!!

I visit Yokohama twice a year, and I always choose the Continental Hotel. There are two reasons I love the Continental. The first is the amazing view. From the day I arrive until I leave the next day, it’s something to enjoy—morning, noon, and night are all wonderful. I can’t wait to watch the sunrise. The second reason is breakfast. Compared with any other buffet, I don’t think there’s anything better. Everything tastes great, especially the Japanese dishes. And because the coffee is so good, I end up having about three cups. This time we stayed on the 20th floor—I was very satisfied!! I’ll be visiting again in June as well, and I’m excited and hoping for another high-floor room.

    We stayed in a Japan...

We stayed in a Japanese-style suite with two single beds with four women and one infant. We chose a Japanese-style Room because our baby is not yet able to walk well, and because we could sleep on futons rather than in beds. Since it was a Japanese-style Room, for the first time at a Hotel we were provided with sweets and Japanese tea, as well as drinkable dashi broth. It was a little disappointing that there were no coffee or black tea packets. Also, perhaps due to SDGs initiatives, there was only one women’s facial care amenity set (cleansing oil, soap, toner, etc.), which was somewhat unsatisfactory. I assumed amenities would be provided at any Hotel and didn’t bring my own, so from now on I’ll make sure to bring them properly. Because I am an IKYU site Diamond member, checkout was at 12:00 p.m., so we were able to take it easy in the morning.

    Disappointed.

As I did a few years ago, I stayed this time on a Plan with Club Floor access. I was informed in advance to check in at the regular counter, and I went there as instructed, but it seemed that the information had not been shared on site. The process did not move forward smoothly, and I had to wait for quite some time. Even afterward, I was told things like, “Did someone speak to you?” which left me quite confused. It also felt as though staff had noticed me waiting, so I would have appreciated smoother guidance. In addition, the operation of the Club Floor has changed from before, and it gave me the impression that the appeal of this Plan is not being fully utilized. Furthermore, including the response at checkout and overall grooming/appearance, I honestly felt that the overall level of hospitality had declined compared with what I had experienced previously. Because of its convenient access to my event venue and because I was looking forward to my stay, it was disappointing overall. I hope to see improvements in the future.

It was my first stay here in a while.

I stayed here for the first time in over 10 years. These days, many front desk staff are non-Japanese, which is understandable, but I found the explanations a bit hard to catch at times and felt some extra stress during check-in/out that I don’t experience with Japanese staff. (Minus 1 for that.) The Room itself was excellent, but I had used that brand of hand soap and shampoo once before at a Hotel in Okinawa, and as someone who dislikes cigarette smoke, it made my hands and body smell like cigarettes. I never wanted to use it again, so having to use it here was the worst. (Minus 2 for that.) I planned to buy a cake to take home with the complimentary ¥2,000 ticket, but it couldn’t be used at that shop. There was also a trainee female staff member who silently cleared plates while we were eating in the lounge. Still, I was able to relax until the 13:00 late check-out. Thank you. In my experience, places—whether a Hotel or a Ryokan—that respond individually in this Review section are usually reliable stays with high satisfaction.

My wife was truly impressed by the thoughtful care shown by the room service staff. It reminded me once again that a Hotel’s value is defined by the people who work there. If we have the opportunity, we would be delighted to stay again.

This was my third stay, and it was comfortable every time.

It was very convenient for us, as it was for our daughter’s birthday and the Anpanman Museum is nearby. I highly recommend it for families with small children—the location is excellent! The price was around JPY 86,000 including breakfast, so I think it’s great value. The view was wonderful, and we were even able to see fireworks around 8:00 PM! Breakfast included plenty of Japanese dishes, with kid-friendly options as well, which was truly great.

    For a marriage proposal.

Thank you very much for accommodating our various requests. I’m sure you’re used to handling many guests, but we truly appreciated your support. The proposal was a great success, and the bouquet—along with the scenery—was very well received. It made for the best proposal! Both the service and the room were excellent. Thank you again. Regarding amenities, we would have been even happier if there had been two skincare sets for two people (everything was so wonderful that this was the only useful suggestion we could find).

    It exceeded my expectations.

This was my first stay, and overall I felt it offered satisfaction beyond the price. While service quality can vary by staff member, many provided very pleasant service, and I was glad I chose to stay here. Regarding lounge access, when I visited there were seats available during afternoon tea, cocktail time, and breakfast, so I could relax quietly with plenty of space. The offerings were also substantial, and even after the service changes it still felt luxurious. In addition, at the salon on the 28th floor, each time I stopped by there were no other guests, so I was able to fully enjoy the spacious atmosphere. As for the Room, the bathroom area was cleaner than in the published photos and more satisfying than expected. It was great that I could open a window for ventilation. Also, having a separate shower booth meant I didn’t have to worry about water splashing around.

Attentive service and a welcoming atmosphere

This was my first stay here in 10 years. The atmosphere and overall feel were wonderful. It was also great that the housekeeping staff greeted me with “Hello” whenever we passed each other. I ordered room service several times, and the phone staff were extremely polite and easy to understand, and the person who delivered it was very considerate as well. (When they brought the meal to the table, they moved the TV so it would be easier to see and asked if I needed anything.) It made me certain I’ll stay here again next time. Thank you very much.

Pros and Cons of a Long-Established Hotel

I’m a Yokohama resident, but I had never stayed at this Hotel before, so I came with my husband. The night view is beautiful, so I recommend it to visitors from outside the area. It’s about a 30-minute drive from home. The parking is not Hotel-only; it’s a public parking lot. You receive the parking service at check-out. Since we booked a Plan with Club Lounge access, we went straight to the lounge after arrival. We were shown to a window seat in a bright, open lounge, and afternoon tea was served: mini cakes, club sandwiches, shumai dumplings, and scones. The shumai were excellent. After that, we went to the pool. It was almost private as well. There was also a small bath (not a large public bath), so I took a soak. The bath is quite deep. There are two steps when you enter, but once you’re in the water there are no steps at all, which feels scary—so it’s best to sit on the edge and ease in feet first. A lady in her 70s was struggling, so I helped her by taking her arm. It may be a bit risky for elderly guests. I didn’t realize the pool seems to be charged per entry and ended up going again at night. At The Kahala Hotel last month, their spa facility was one flat fee no matter how many times you used it—I should have confirmed beforehand. The pool fee is JPY 4,400. At 5:00 pm we went back to the Club Lounge. Two plates of hors d’oeuvres were served. In addition to that, cheese, nuts, and fruit are unlimited. There are no hot items. I don’t eat much anyway—two glasses of white wine filled me up—but my husband wanted more and ordered seafood fried noodles from Karyu (JPY 2,500), which were very good. Breakfast is excellent in both quality and quantity. The Room is smaller than Kahala’s 50 m² rooms as expected, but it has the calmness and solid feel of a classic adults-only style Hotel. If you want hot food included in your evening offerings, you may not need Club Lounge access. It works if you can eat hors d’oeuvres in the lounge and still have a full meal at a restaurant afterward—but at our age that’s too much. Still, JPY 43 ,000 for two people with Club Lounge access felt reasonably priced.

    Every stay is exceptional!

We used the club lounge again this time. We stayed with a 2-year-old and a 0-year-old, and the staff were always considerate of families with children, so we were able to enjoy our meals together and had a very comfortable stay. Everything we ate was delicious. The Japanese-style suite was spacious, and we could see the ships up close—our child loved running around and seemed to have a great time. One thing: it was difficult to adjust the shower temperature to a comfortable level. We’re looking forward to our next stay!

A classic Hotel with the true Minato Mirai atmosphere.

When you think of a Hotel in Minato Mirai, many people probably picture the Grand InterContinental. The Facility feels a bit dated overall—more “you can sense its history”—but at the same time, you can also enjoy the atmosphere of a classic Hotel. I made a Reservation with an IKYU Plan, and I was encouraged to sign up for IHG membership on the spot, which came with a Room upgrade. It was a wonderful Room with large windows and an unobstructed ocean view. Amenities included toner and cleansing products, but not enough for both morning and night, so it may be best to bring your own. In the evening, I also visited the music bar. It’s a bar where you can enjoy live piano performances, and for some reason there was no cover charge—so I could spend a luxurious time there paying only for drinks. Breakfast didn’t have an especially large selection overall, but the bread was outstanding. That said, I did notice there weren’t many dishes that pair well with bread. Still, I highly recommend choosing bread over rice. (There may be a line depending on the time, but turnover seems surprisingly quick.) Lastly, I felt disappointed by one staff member’s response at checkout. However, everyone else was very courteous, and the view from the Room was excellent—so I’d love to stay again in the near future. In the Minato Mirai area I also liked The Royal Park Hotel Yokohama as well, but thanks to its superior views, InterContinental left me more satisfied.

This is my favorite Hotel, and I stay here several times a year. It has been a few years since the club lounge moved to the second floor, but I preferred the quality before. I understand it can’t be helped as it was crowded during the New Year holidays, but since it’s a special occasion, I’d like to relax and enjoy an escape from everyday life. I look forward to visiting again with high expectations.

    Corner Suite

The room and the bath were wonderful. However, for two guests, there was only one facial cleanser set. We shared it at night, and when it ran out by the next morning, we requested more but received an unclear response stating that "one per room is the default." Although they brought us another set upon request, shouldn't there be four sets provided for two guests staying overnight? I would like to stay again next time but plan to order additional facial cleanser sets on the first day.

    It was great.

Stayed for one night with my husband from 12/30. It was our first stay at this accommodation. We chose an ocean view room. The room offered a wide and beautiful view of the sea, allowing us to enjoy stunning scenery in the morning, afternoon, and evening. The window frame was like a bench, so I stretched out my legs there, turned off all the lights in the room, and enjoyed the night view and sunrise—it was truly relaxing. For breakfast, we opted for the buffet; the Danish pastries were so delicious that I ended up eating too much! One disappointing point: It seemed there were small children in either the room above or next door who were jumping around late at night and early in the morning, causing loud thumping noises. It would be great if we could have a room without children nearby next time. Looking forward to trying a city-view room on our next visit!

    Disappointing Club Floor

I have been using the Club Floor during the Christmas season every year, but this year was disappointing. The evening cocktail time was shortened to two hours from 5 PM to 7 PM, and there were no freshly baked pizzas served on-site. Salads and hams were also missing, with a noticeable decline in both the variety and quantity of food offered. There were no staff available to prepare cocktails, and a reduction in staff numbers was evident. Additionally, the lights behind the food service table were turned off, creating a gloomy atmosphere. Overall, I strongly felt a significant decline in the quality of the Club Lounge. On a personal note, I will not be using the Club Floor again in future visits. While I understand the challenging circumstances surrounding today's hotel industry, as someone who has enjoyed InterContinental Hotel's Club Floor for years, it was deeply disappointing.

    We recommend using the lounge.

I used the lounge. With lounge access, you can enjoy a simplified individual afternoon tea while checking in, which is available from 2 PM and highly recommended. The Hotel room itself is somewhat old but has a nice American-style charm that I personally liked. There were various amenities provided, so I was satisfied. If you'd like to enjoy an Onsen, you can visit Manyo Club right in front of the hotel; I went there the next day and had no complaints. There’s also a cocktail time starting at 5 PM with light snacks available, though I didn’t try them as I ate outside. However, after returning to the hotel, I enjoyed some drinks—there was beer including Hitachino Brewing's Yuzu Lager, which was delicious. Breakfast was served in the same location with three main dishes to choose from and salads offered buffet-style. Enjoying breakfast while basking in the morning sunlight made it even more delightful. Overall, there were mostly adults staying here so it was quiet without noisy children—a very pleasant experience!

    Room temperature control

Thank you for your hospitality yesterday. Upon checking in and heading to the Room, the Room felt stuffy and hot, with a system that didn’t allow the windows to open much. I tried relying on the air conditioning, but during this season, only heating was available instead of cooling. It was uncomfortable until sunset.

The response from the front desk staff was not very satisfactory. It felt mechanical, and even when I asked questions, they answered while operating something without making eye contact, prioritizing efficiency. It left a negative impression on me. If this is the Hotel's policy, I feel it does not suit me. Additionally, I found the 60-minute time limit for breakfast to be too short. The view from the Room was great.

    I have a concern.

As always, I was able to relax. However, there was something that caught my attention. At night, I heard a dull sound of footsteps—"ton ton ton." It happened several times while I was sleeping. This was the first time experiencing such a thing. My wife also seemed to notice it. I'm not sure if it came from the person upstairs or if it was related to the Facility. I wrote this because it concerned me.

    It was the best accommodation.

This time, due to scheduling reasons, I made a multiple night stay with separate reservations for each night. For detailed impressions and comments, please refer to the review of the first night's stay. In any case, it was an excellent accommodation experience. It was flawless in every aspect. Having stayed at numerous hotels before, nothing surpasses Yokohama Grand Intercontinental Hotel in my opinion.

It was a highly satisfying stay.

This time, I stayed for two nights on the Club Floor. Due to scheduling, I initially made a reservation for one night and later added another night as a separate reservation. Since it was the same type of room, they treated it as a multiple-night stay. The room was spacious, impeccably clean including the bathroom area, and well-equipped with amenities, making my stay very comfortable. The quality of breakfast, afternoon tea at the Club Lounge, and cocktail time were exceptionally high—truly what you would expect from an InterContinental Hotel. Above all, the service provided by the staff at the Club Lounge was smart and elegant, allowing me to enjoy my time in great comfort. It was a completely satisfying stay in every aspect. I have stayed at nearby hotels before but must say that the service at InterContinental Hotel is simply unmatched.
