Tazawa Station × Highly rated for dining at Hotel·Ryokan

Staying away from home can feel different from everyday life, and it’s not uncommon to end up tense, unable to relax, and even more tired than usual. But at Shoraiso, that never happened—I could truly unwind whether I was in my Room or in the lounge (I slept soundly even with a different pillow). I think it’s because of the comfortable sense of distance and the welcoming atmosphere created by everyone on staff and by Shoraiso as a whole. Everything was wonderful: the Room, the Onsen, the meals (especially the delicious broth in the clear soup), and the lounge. Next time as well, I’d like to stop by Obuse first and then visit Shoraiso again. It was a truly enjoyable trip—thank you very much.

This was my first visit to Obuse, and I think autumn is the best season to visit. Although walking to the dinner location on a dark road was a bit scary, the staff kindly guided me. Both the food and tableware were very satisfying. The chestnut-themed appetizers and chestnut rice left me feeling full. While it’s not an Onsen, the bath was spacious, and I appreciated that it wasn’t a unit bath. The breakfast bread and milk were also very delicious. I only stepped into the library briefly, but if I had more time, reading Hokusai's manga would have been enjoyable. This is an accommodation I can recommend!

I stayed during the New Year. With only a few rooms, I was able to enjoy a calm and relaxing time, feeling as if I had returned to my family home. The hospitality of the hostess and staff was wonderful, and when I mentioned that I was undergoing dental treatment, they kindly adjusted the meals to make them easier to eat. It is an accommodation I would love to visit again.

This year, as my father retired and we had more time, we planned a family trip. It was our first time visiting Yudanaka Onsen, and from the moment we arrived at the parking lot, our expectations were high. While unloading our luggage without even calling for assistance, the staff came out to guide us. I immediately felt that this might be an excellent accommodation choice. The view of the Shinshu Five Peaks from our room on the 4th floor was stunning, and having two toilets and sinks in the room was a pleasant surprise. Above all, the staff's hospitality and meals were outstanding. The staff spoke calmly yet provided clear explanations and promptly answered any questions about food or sightseeing—it was truly impressive. The meals were so delicious that every family member said they wanted to eat them again! From Shinshu beef to Shinshu salmon, everything was perfectly prepared. Even small dishes like dressings or sauces had exquisite flavors! The balance of flavors in dishes like sweet vinegar sauce or pickled items left us amazed at how delicious they could be when done right. For our family, everything about this stay was perfect. We will definitely return again—thank you very much!

We stayed for the Onsen and the meals. Just before closing time, we ran and hiked a long way up the mountain to see the snow monkeys in Jigokudani, and we were exhausted—so the Onsen truly soothed us. The water was soft, gentle, and comfortable enough to stay in for a long time. The furnishings were tasteful and lovely as well. The Room wasn’t large, but it was clean, very practical, and well equipped with items such as bathrobes. We also really enjoyed the food. The creative touch of something like a moving sushi cart was fun, but more than that, every dish itself was genuinely delicious and impressive. Two things were disappointing. First, the timing of serving the dishes was far too fast—the entire course was served within about an hour. Even though everything tasted wonderful, it cooled down quickly, which felt like such a waste. I understand this may be due to operational reasons, but this part was hard to accept. We also ordered wine and sake pairings, but they were brought out all at once. This may be unavoidable as well, but I would have appreciated more consideration—for example, keeping certain drinks chilled. Despite those two concerns, overall it was overwhelmingly excellent. It’s an Accommodation I would love to stay at again. Thank you very much.

The service was just right for me—not over the top, not overly elaborate, and not trying too hard to be different. I stayed for a Multiple Night Stay, and I was pleasantly surprised that the meals on the second day were even better. Rather than simply being “upgraded,” they really showcased the careful, delicate qualities of kaiseki cuisine. The Momoyama bath is truly impressive. You can take photos during a short time in the morning, and there’s also an explanatory tour by the staff, which I enjoyed. Soaking slowly in the clear Onsen with its high alkalinity helped me relax deeply, and I felt refreshed both physically and mentally.

Everyone at the Accommodation was very kind, and I had a wonderful stay.

The parking lot was spacious and convenient. The Room was clean and functional! The only slight dissatisfaction was the lack of a nearby convenience store, but while exploring, I found a yakiniku restaurant and enjoyed a delicious dinner. I appreciated the staff's thoughtful gestures, such as the handmade map.

Our stay for three men, all turning 72 this year, was very enjoyable. - We could park right in front of the Hotel, and the lift ticket counter is connected to the front desk. The 1-day pass was inexpensive (about half the price of other ski resorts), and Accommodation guests also received a 500-yen discount. - Both the Room and the large public bath were spacious, so we could relax. The dinner buffet included 1 hour of all-you-can-drink, and although there was no all-you-can-eat crab option, dishes were replenished quickly when they ran out, which we enjoyed. - A few points to consider: the air conditioner in the Room was quite noisy, and there were no chairs in the ski locker room. Also, the shop’s refrigerator only had ice cream and no ice; unfortunately, a store diagonally across from the parking lot had sold out of ice as well. All of the Southeast Asian staff at both reception and the restaurant were very pleasant—thank you for a wonderful ski trip.

For an affordable Hotel like this, the buffet was very satisfying. The bath was also great. The private family bath is free, though it can only be used once for 30 minutes, and the Room was spacious—overall, the value for money is outstanding. The toilet is basic, so I’d like to see it renovated. In terms of value for money, I have no complaints—5/5 overall.

Stayed overnight after skiing at Shiga Kogen After check-in, straight to the open-air bath! Then draft beer at the all-you-can-drink corner. There were snacks too—the mixed nuts were delicious. Dinner buffet featured teppanyaki beef, with red wine, and plenty of other options. Breakfast was tasty as well. If I didn’t have to drive, I’d have enjoyed the all-you-can-drink from the morning too (lol). The building is old, but they’ve clearly worked hard on renovations. The woman at reception also made a great impression. It’s a shame that the dead grass seen from the road makes it look a bit like an abandoned place. I’ll be back.

I couldn’t book the Accommodation near the ski resort (mountains) that I usually use, so I searched on Yahoo! Travel and made a Reservation at Route Inn. It’s in a great location—within an hour (within 25 km) of the ski resort I like. Because it’s in town (down on the plain), prices are lower (in the mountains, things are expensive, limited, and often priced however they want). You can eat and drink whatever you like, it’s not as cold as up in the mountains, and the Hotel is clean (many mountain Accommodations are seriously outdated). Everything was incredibly comfortable. Best of all, for the price of one night in the mountains, you can stay two nights down here.

The location is convenient, being relatively close to the station even if you come by car. The room felt like a renovated apartment and had a clean atmosphere. The Onsen with natural hot spring water was enjoyable, offering hotter baths for those who prefer them, and the sauna was sufficient despite closing at 9 PM. It was a No Meals Included stay, but the izakaya in the same building offered affordable prices with satisfying options like game meat dishes, snacks, and drinks. For breakfast, bread and coffee were available; you could even take it to go in its packaging if you're in a hurry and eat it in your car. While there were minor issues such as weak WIFI connection, an older building structure, or no water dispenser available—these are small concerns considering the quality provided at this price point. If you're looking for more luxurious services, paying accordingly would be necessary; however, I personally would love to stay here again!

I stayed here during the Obuse Marathon. Despite my early departure, they kindly prepared rice balls and tea for me, which I greatly appreciated. The warm smiles when welcoming and sending me off made for a wonderful stay.

We stayed here for a girls’ trip. The interior and overall design were wonderful, and we enjoyed a truly luxurious time. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, and the experience exceeded the price. The staff’s service was excellent, and we would definitely like to return. It would have been even better if there had been an Onsen. Even so, it was a lovely Accommodation that we’d love to visit again.

This Onsen was perfect for us, as we prefer mildly warm water. Some Reviews mentioned it gets crowded with day-trip visitors, but perhaps due to the season, it wasn’t too busy. We relaxed in the open-air bath with its milky-white Onsen water. The meals were also excellent, featuring creative dishes such as simmered stir-fried Japanese spikenard, deep-fried char with black vinegar sauce, and maitake mushroom rice. It’s an Onsen we’d love to visit again.

Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious. The dishes were also wonderful! We enjoyed them at a leisurely pace. The bath had a retro and nostalgic feel. The cave bath was lovely. The staff were kind, and we had a pleasant stay. I definitely want to visit again. Thank you for taking care of us.

The ski slope is immediately to the left as soon as you step out the entrance, so it was great that we could change into our gear in the Room and head straight out. The Onsen was also relaxing and enjoyable. The staff were wonderful—everyone was smiling and kindly answered our questions. The building is old, but it was clean and didn’t bother us. It snowed until early morning, then cleared up around 9 a.m., giving us perfect conditions.

Compared to 10 years ago, business hotels have increased by about 2,000 yen per night, but this Hotel was sufficient considering that. The building's exterior and interior are old, but there was nothing unpleasant. There was a notice in the room about "air conditioner malfunction," but only the individual air conditioner couldn't be used; the centrally controlled air conditioning system was functioning, allowing power-off and airflow adjustment. There is no USB port in the room, so bringing an adapter for outlets is essential. The bed was relatively comfortable to sleep on. The bathroom was clean and well-maintained. There are no convenience stores or shops within walking distance for shopping, so purchasing necessities beforehand is essential. I would use this Hotel again if I have another business trip to this area.
