Enjoy the 100% natural flowing Onsen and the exquisite cuisine of Kakuman to your heart's content.

  • In response to my mother’s request that she wanted to eat crab, I searched around and found this Accommodation. After watching YouTube videos in advance, our family of four stayed here in two twin Rooms. From the outside it looks like an apartment building, but the Room was spacious and had a large sofa, so we could relax comfortably. The view from the Room was also beautiful, with Mt. Aso stretching out before us, but the balcony was covered with what looked like bird droppings.Since most guests probably use the Onsen, it felt like the water areas weren’t cleaned thoroughly; although everything looked clean overall, there were water stains or drip marks on the faucets. Other than that it was clean, but while there were towels for bathing, there were no towels for the sink area—only paper towels. I would have preferred regular towels. We enjoyed the Onsen facilities such as private baths and a large public bath. I would like a few more baskets for clothes in the private baths. The three of us used one together and there weren’t enough baskets. Also, the bath that connects from the cave area of the large public bath to the outdoor open-air section was so cold that we were shivering. The soft drinks, alcohol service, and snack/pudding service were truly appreciated. The crab at dinner was smaller than what I had seen in videos, and since I’m not great with tedious eating tasks, I stopped eating it. However, there was plenty of meat and many other dishes as well, and everything was delicious. The Rooms are old-fashioned, but there is also a karaoke room. For breakfast in the morning, I had been looking forward to freshly made rice balls like in the videos; however, perhaps because we went around 8:00 a.m., they weren’t available freshly made. That was disappointing, but we still enjoyed a luxurious breakfast from early morning—such as seafood rice bowls—and ate our fill. The weather was great and it turned into a very satisfying trip—we even said we’d like to come again next year.Thank you very much for your hospitality this time.

  • Both breakfast and dinner offered a wide variety of dishes, which was great. I was also surprised by the large selection of alcoholic drinks, and everything was delicious. It was nice that beer was available as a welcome drink—it really helped me unwind after the trip. Whenever items like tempura ran out, the staff quickly replenished them, so I could enjoy them freshly fried. The private bath was also very relaxing. However, to use the large public bath and the private bath, you have to move to the main building (I think), and having to walk outside all the way—from the corridor between the main and annex buildings to the baths—was far too cold and uncomfortable... Also, for me, the bed was too soft and my lower back hurt a little. For some reason it felt hot at night and I had trouble sleeping (it was around 2°C outside). The staff were very kind and helpful.
