From the spout, the water pours down like a waterfall shower, filling a handcrafted wooden tub made of cedar, cypress, and sawara while turning it a bluish milky white—and it flows generously at all times. At Shibutatsuno Ryokan, the recommended way to bathe is to soak in a half-squat position while alternating between hot and cold. Because the Onsen has strong therapeutic properties, there is no washing area at Shingen’s Medicinal Bath. You may wash your body in the indoor bath equipped with faucets. The spring quality is a simple acidic cold mineral spring and is said to be effective for a wide range of conditions including gastrointestinal issues, rheumatism, women’s health concerns, and dermatitis. It is also beneficial for wounds and leaves your skin feeling smooth.
