Sauna
The barrel sauna and cube sauna, crafted from fragrant local Tono hinoki cypress, welcome you with a refreshing aroma the moment you open the door. The heater is, of course, a wood-burning stove. It takes time and care—everything from lighting the fire to managing the temperature is done by hand—but you can enjoy the deep roar of burning wood, the crackling sounds, and a gentle sauna that warms you slowly and is kind to your skin. The cold plunge is 100% natural water—well water drawn from a spring-fed clear stream famous for fireflies.
Outdoor relaxation area
Birdsong and the calls of insects that weave through the seasons, accompanied by the gentle murmur of a stream that never drowns them out. An open-air relaxation space where you can truly feel immersed in nature. A place where you can experience Tsuzuya Village’s concept: “Play with nature and return to yourself.”
Ingredients
Dinner is served using an abundance of locally sourced ingredients from Gifu, as a BBQ in summer and a hot pot in winter. <BBQ> A BBQ featuring locally renowned “Anshin Pork,” Hida beef, and sweetfish (ayu), along with freshly harvested summer vegetables. <Hot Pot> Made with locally grown Chinese cabbage, daikon radish, and shiitake mushrooms, served with fresh meat and fish. The menu changes with the seasons.
Interior
Tsuzuya Village uses a draft-free, whole-building air-conditioning system, “F-CON,” that gently surrounds you with next-generation far-infrared warmth and coolness. Because there is no airflow, it does not stir up dust or cause dryness. The far-infrared effect emitted from a special stone powder keeps you warm to your fingertips in winter, and in summer provides a refreshingly cool feeling—like stepping into a cave. Maintained at a comfortable temperature year-round, it overcomes the common drawbacks of traditional Japanese houses—hot summers and cold winters—for a more pleasant stay.
Nearby area
Despite being blessed with pristine streams and rich nature—so much so that it is known as a “Firefly Village”—the area is conveniently located about an hour from central Nagoya. It is also within 10 minutes of two expressway interchanges, making it easy for guests from Tokyo and Osaka to visit as well.
