Old Folk Farm Hostel GAMP HOUSE
Fukushima Prefecture/Iwaki CityExperience authentic traditional living in a preserved Edo-period farmhouse from the Kyōhō era and "Discover Your True Self."
A traditional farmhouse over 280 years old, nestled in a rural village near the warm Pacific Ocean in Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture, the gateway to Tohoku. In spring, cherry blossoms flutter; in summer, the surroundings turn lush green; in autumn, a golden world unfolds; and in winter, a dazzling starry sky appears. Experience the changing faces of "Gamp House" through the seasons in its spacious and relaxing atmosphere, while stepping back in time to the Edo period lifestyle. For those of us accustomed to the conveniences of modern life, a visit to "Gamp Village," centered around this traditional farmhouse, offers a chance to reflect and rediscover oneself amidst its charming inconveniences and unfamiliarities. At night, enjoy a meal at "Gamp Chaya," where the multi-talented owner, skilled as a psychological counselor, chef, and farmer, prepares local Japanese dishes using pesticide-free natural vegetables and additive-free, chemical-free seasonings. Gather around the irori hearth for a warm family-like time of conversation with the GAMP family. Relax in the gender-separated open-air rock baths and create family memories. From small babies to the elderly, everyone can enjoy a time to be themselves. Connect with international guests at this guesthouse, which is loved by repeat visitors from both Japan and abroad. Why not embark on a journey to return to your roots? —Rediscover yourself in an authentic traditional farmhouse—
