Sounkyo Choyotei

I stayed for a Multiple Night Stay in October 2025. A cold wave brought snow, allowing me to enjoy the stunning autumn foliage covered in white. The view from the panoramic bath was spectacular, offering a full view of Sounkyo Gorge. The outdoor Onsen also had a reputation for its beautiful night sky, but unfortunately, it was snowing during my visit. Instead, I enjoyed the refreshing outdoor air while soaking in the bath. Meals were served buffet-style with a variety of dishes that were all delicious. Additionally, five types of local sake were offered at no extra charge, which added to the enjoyment. The only downside regarding meals was that they were identical on both days of my stay. There is another Hotel nearby called Choyo Resort where guests staying multiple nights can choose to dine instead; I feel I should have opted for that option.As part of their "Onsen hopping" experience, guests can also enjoy bathing at Choyo Resort's Onsen.I deducted one star from service because although there is a shuttle bus to Choyo Resort, there was no clear information about its schedule or operation times displayed anywhere, making it inconvenient to use. Additionally, since meals are identical on consecutive days and dining at Choyo Resort is recommended as an alternative option for variety—clearer guidance and shuttle bus details would have elevated this experience even further.Overall though, I am very satisfied!

To celebrate my mother's 85th birthday, she wished to stay at Asahitei for the first time in 35 years. My daughter accompanied her so they could relax together. Thank you for the thoughtful birthday gift (a pair of chopsticks) at check-in. We also appreciate being given a room near the elevator on the top floor with a great view, where my mother enjoyed seeing the beautiful autumn leaves and found it convenient to access the bath.The dining arrangement was well-organized with assigned seats marked by numbers, making it easy for them to get food. Both my mother and daughter were satisfied with the variety of dishes offered. Although my mother mentioned that while the room had been renovated, it still retained its 40-year history, which brought back nostalgic memories of staying there 35 years ago with her siblings and late father.She did note that having alternating schedules for using certain baths was slightly inconvenient but overall appreciated being able to spend time leisurely. It was also my daughter's first stay here, and she thoroughly enjoyed it as well.My mother expressed gratitude for our email exchanges with your staff and said she was very pleased with everything during her stay. I sincerely thank you again for making this occasion special for her. If we have another opportunity in the future, we would love to visit again! Thank you very much this time!
