A soothing retreat for the soul, the Tokiwakan Hotel in Shiobara Onsen offers 20 stylish yet traditional Ryokan-style Rooms. Located away from the hustle and bustle of the city, the Property features a large public bath and open-air Onsen, rich in metasilicic acid, known for its skin-beautifying properties. The Onsen is a natural free-flowing hot spring with no added water, no heating, and no circulation, offering a smooth sodium-calcium chloride bicarbonate spring that leaves your skin feeling soft and hydrated. Guests can also enjoy dishes made with locally sourced ingredients at our dining restaurant.
We chose this Hotel based on Reviews saying the food was delicious. Instead of a buffet, dinner was served at the table, so we could enjoy a quiet, relaxed meal, and there were plenty of dishes. Before the meal, the staff gave a detailed explanation of what would be served, and they also checked about refills in line with our pace—very attentive service that left us satisfied. Breakfast also offered such a wide variety that it almost felt like too much, and we were very pleased with it as well. The Room had been nicely renovated and was great. Many Hotels have been renovated, but I was impressed that even details like the sink height were set at just the right level. Considering the price, for this quality at this rate, I have nothing to complain about. I would like to stay again next time.

The private open-air bath was also wonderful. The staff were kind and attentive in every situation, and we couldn’t have asked for more. We will definitely stay again.

The large public bath and open-air Onsen at our Hotel contain metasilicic acid, a natural moisturizing and skin-beautifying component. Metasilicic acid is often included in moisturizing lotions and bath additives, as it is believed to help improve the skin's ceramide balance. Generally, water with over 50mg of metasilicic acid is considered "beauty-enhancing," but the Onsen at Tokiwa Hotel contains an impressive 207.6mg of metasilicic acid.
