A journey to soothe your soul with seasonal nature, Onsen, and homemade cuisine.
Nestled in Shima Onsen, "Ayameya Ryokan" is a tranquil Onsen retreat surrounded by nature, where you can enjoy the seasonal landscapes. The area is dotted with waterfalls and lakes, perfect for leisurely strolls. You can also enjoy water activities in the clear Shima River. The Ryokan offers five 10-tatami mat Japanese-style rooms, each providing serene and calming spaces with windows that showcase the seasonal mountain scenery. Shima Onsen is designated as a National Health Onsen, featuring gentle waters that are safe for small children and expectant mothers. Additionally, we serve dishes prepared with an abundance of fresh, seasonal ingredients, highlighting the blessings of the mountains and rivers.
We found and booked a small Accommodation. We were able to fully enjoy the long-awaited Onsen at a relaxed pace without it feeling crowded, and it was a nice touch that each person could choose their own hot pot dinner from four options. Everything was delicious, but for someone in their 50s the portions were a bit large, and sadly I couldn’t finish even the rice balls the hostess made. Breakfast was also plentiful and made me feel happy from the morning. With a great Onsen and pleasant hospitality, we had an enjoyable holiday weekend.
Yahoo!トラベルユー... 2/23/2026We stayed at the accommodation for the first time in November with our friends, a married couple. We chose this place because of its great reviews, and it exceeded our expectations. Our friends were also very happy, which made us glad. Later, we wanted to visit again, so I talked to my daughter and stayed in January with three of us. At that time, my wife had unfortunately broken her leg and was having difficulty moving around. When I consulted with the hostess about the schedule and room arrangements, she kindly accommodated us by changing our room to one closest to the onsen on the first floor. Thank you very much for your thoughtful support. My daughter has expressed interest in visiting again as well, so we are planning to stay during April when the fresh greenery is beautiful.

Introduction of the Accommodation

Highlights of Shima
Shima Onsen is a tranquil hot spring area surrounded by majestic nature. You can enjoy the natural beauty of each season, and untouched nature remains preserved. Within Shima Onsen, there are waterfalls and lakes where you can enjoy strolling. Additionally, the clear Shima River, which we take pride in, is as pure and transparent as its name suggests, and at locations with signs indicating "You can play in the river," you can enjoy water activities.

We have prepared over 10 types of colorful yukata with various patterns. Wear your favorite yukata and stroll through the town of Shima Onsen. Try wearing a beautiful yukata and explore the hot spring town.
Take a borrowed basket for "strolling through the Onsen town" and shopping in the Shima Onsen area.
