In August 2024, the Property will reopen as "Kumojo no Teishajo," an Onsen Facility accessible by mountain train, featuring an infinity panoramic open-air Onsen, sauna, and a café & bar. Enjoy a world of relaxation above the clouds aboard the mountain train. For dining, we offer dishes that highlight local and seasonal ingredients. Dinner includes a buffet of side dishes in addition to our signature dishes, such as Tokiwakan's specialty "Saku Carp Stew" and appetizers. Savor the blessings of Nagano Shinshu's rich land.
I chose this Accommodation because I was very interested in the open-air bath accessed by the mountain railway.I enjoyed it so much that I ended up using it three times during my stay.Since it was Monday right after the holiday period, it was very quiet, which was great. The Facility has the charm of a classic Onsen Accommodation, and the guest rooms have been beautifully renovated, making it extremely relaxing.I would love to stay again.

Carefully selected materials
The Reason Why Tokiwakan's Simmered Carp is Delicious Tokiwakan's specialty is the "Saku Carp Simmered Dish." While some people find carp to have a muddy taste and are not fond of it, for some reason, they can enjoy the carp at Tokiwakan. The sauce used is a special one that has been continuously added to and enhanced over time. This sauce is combined with seasonings and a generous amount of sake, and the carp is simmered over high heat for a short period. The alcohol in the sake helps to eliminate any unpleasant odor, and the high-heat, short-time cooking method results in a dish with a caramel-colored surface and a white, fluffy texture. Additionally, the carp is simmered with its scales intact. This is done intentionally to bring out the flavor between the scales and the skin. Please enjoy Tokiwakan's carefully prepared simmered carp. While carp does have many small bones, which can make it a bit challenging to eat, we hope you will skillfully remove the bones and savor this delightful dish.
