Hagijo Sannomaru Hokumon Yashiki
Yamaguchi Prefecture/Hagi Onsen VillageAccommodation inheriting the elegance of the Mori clan, nestled in the World Heritage Site "Hagi Castle Town".
Built in 1604 by Terumoto Mori after the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600, Hagi flourished as a castle town. Walking through streets that still retain the atmosphere of those times, you can feel the presence of history in the stone walls, white plastered walls, and even in a passing breeze. Turning around, it feels as if over 400 years of history quietly lingers here. At its heart lies "Hagijo Sannomaru Hokumon Yashiki," the only Ryokan within the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Hagi Castle Town." Located on the site of the Yoshiki Mori Clan's Hagi Domain residence, it conveys to this day a harmony of Japanese elegance and Western sophistication.
Thank you for taking care of us during our Multiple Night Stay. This was a trip to Hagi with my daughter. We visited Hagi when she was still very young, but now she’s a big fan of Takasugi, so this time we definitely wanted to stay at an Accommodation located within the World Heritage area. All of your staff were extremely knowledgeable about Hagi—so much so that they could have been guides—and the fun facts you shared with us between serving dishes were truly fascinating. The staff member who showed us to our Room—while we took the elevator, they ran up the stairs, and they were even faster than the elevator! We were amazed. The meals were also delicious, and the tableware was beautiful. We really appreciated that you changed the menu on the second night so we could enjoy a variety of dishes. Your staff greeted us whenever we passed each other, which made our stay very pleasant. We also took a walk around the garden. It was well maintained, and it was wonderful to see the Kawazu cherry blossoms and camellias in full bloom. One amenity item I would like to request is a deodorizing spray for clothing, as odors can sometimes cling to outerwear after sightseeing or dining.Hagi is truly a town where you can feel how much everyone loves it. I’m a little envious that you have such a hometown to be proud of. There are still many places we haven’t been able to visit yet, so next time as well, we would love to stay with Hokumon Yashiki again.
ねこのあさ 3/4/2026The front desk staff assisted us as soon as we parked and kindly guided us.The attendant was wonderfully considerate, and we were truly impressed. The Facility was also excellent, and we would love to stay here again and again.

Introduction of the Accommodation

White walls and stone walls. The timeless scenery of the World Heritage Site "Hagi Castle Town" still thrives today. Connected to Takakage Kobayakawa, one of the "Mōri Ryōkawa" who shaped the Sengoku era, is the Yoshiki Mōri family. On the site of their Hagi domain residence stands an accommodation that conveys dignity and beauty to this day—"Hagijo Sannomaru Hokumon Yashiki." The stone wall facing "Onarimichi," a path once used by successive feudal lords, remains as it was in the Edo period. Step through its imposing front gate, and you will find yourself in another world where tradition and elegance harmonize beautifully.

The facility offers a space that blends the dignity of traditional Japanese architecture with the elegance of European taste. Within the grounds, two gardens—one Japanese and one Western—showcase the beauty of each season. To the south lies "Hokumon Garden," an English-style garden where Japanese and Western flora harmonize. Cherry blossoms in spring, roses in early summer, autumn foliage, and camellias in winter—seasonal flowers embrace visitors throughout the year. This is not just an accommodation but a place where the "history" and "aesthetic sense" of Hagi come alive. Immerse yourself in tranquility and savor the beauty of time as it flows by.

The district, stone walls, and white plaster walls that have been passed down since the Mori era. The Onarimichi road once traveled by feudal lords and the serene garden reflecting the four seasons. This is not just a place to "stay," but an accommodation where you "live in history." With pride in carrying on the legacy of Hagi's time. ── Hagi Castle San-no-Maru Hokumon Yashiki
