- Sakihana Onsen Bokukaku
The only Accommodation in the prefecture where you can enjoy three different Onsen at the same time, nestled along the Agano River.
A property at Saki Hana Onsen by the Agano River. Enjoy the unique Saki Hana hot spring, which changes color depending on temperature and weather, for the first time in Niigata Prefecture with <3 colors simultaneously>. The open-air bath with a great view offers 100% natural hot spring water, known for its skin-beautifying properties. Additionally, there is a terrace for playing with dogs and rooms where you can stay with your pets, making it ideal for those traveling with their furry companions.
The view from the Room over the Agano River to Mt. Hozu is wonderful. It is also close to the Agano River sightseeing boat pier across the river. The Onsen is a sulfur sulfate spring, and depending on the season it changes color to fresh bamboo green, celadon, or deutzia white (100% free-flowing from the source). The open-air bath is pleasantly lukewarm. Unusually for a Hotel, there is an irori hearth in the Room with charcoal already lit, creating a cozy atmosphere. The meals are generous—more than you can finish—with great seasoning, and the staff provide excellent service. They handle everyone smoothly, from group tours to individual travelers. The Room is kept very clean and comes with a large TV and even a sewing kit. A 2-minute walk from JR Hanasaki Station, this Accommodation stands on historic ground—the former battlefield of the Byakkotai—inviting reflection on Japan’s Meiji Restoration.
福井正彦 4/14/2026After visiting the family grave during Obon, we stayed here as a family. We traveled by highway, and it was a great accommodation choice. Everyone in the family loved it, and it might become our annual tradition. The quality of the onsen is excellent, with mineral deposits visible in the bathwater—black and white particles that initially made us wonder what they were. After reading the detailed onsen information post-bath, we understood better. It would be reassuring if there were clear explanations displayed in the changing area as well. The explanation from the Onsen Sommelier was very informative and interesting. Enjoying the onsen while overlooking the majestic flow of Agano River was truly amazing. It would be nice to have cold water available near the glass-walled room with chairs where you can view the river. The food was delicious, and adding crab as an option was fantastic! We felt bad for not being able to finish breakfast because there was so much food.Thank you for providing us with a spacious room—it had a clean and comfortable atmosphere. Although not new, fresh flowers placed throughout gave an elegant touch to various areas of this accommodation. We look forward to visiting again!

Introduction of the Accommodation
A mysterious Onsen that "changes color" depending on the day
Saki Onsen contains "metal cations" that have been underground for thousands of years, and when exposed to air, the water turns a beautiful green color. This green color changes daily depending on the onsen's temperature and the outside air temperature, transitioning from a young bamboo green to sage green and then to a white flower color. When the temperature is high, the water becomes transparent, and when it cools or is overly exposed to air, it turns whitish.

[First in the prefecture] Enjoy the Onsen of Sakihana in three colors simultaneously.
In response to the voices of customers who say, "I want to enjoy various types of baths on the same day!", we have made it a reality after a development period of 1 year and 6 months. For the first time in Niigata Prefecture, you can enjoy baths with different colors and temperatures in each tub. ■ SAKIHANA Onsen has <Skin-Beautifying Effects> ■ SAKIHANA Onsen meets 3 out of the 4 conditions for skin-beautifying effects. As a feature, the water is a "mildly alkaline" "sulfur spring" and also contains "sulfate spring components," making it a luxurious Onsen.
