One of North Kanto’s largest bathhouses, fed by a hot spring on a hilltop with sweeping views of the Joshu mountains.

Welcome to Ikaho Onsen, Hotel Kogure. With a proud 400-year history, we are the heart of Ikaho, boasting the largest source of the renowned "Golden Onsen" waters. Drawing over 1,000 liters per minute from the source— We offer one of North Kanto's top-class water volumes. Experience an extraordinary onsen journey in our expansive 1,300-tsubo bathhouse featuring large communal baths, open-air baths, private baths, and spa spaces—a true "paradise of hot springs." All rooms are designed with spacious comfort in mind. From luxurious suites to rooms with private open-air baths, each space is crafted not for continuing your daily routine but for immersing yourself in an extraordinary experience. Meals feature kaiseki cuisine that highlights seasonal and local ingredients. Our grand chef pours heart and soul into every dish to deliver flavors that delight all five senses. Above all else, what Hotel Kogure takes pride in is our "hospitality perfected for healing." From the moment you step inside our accommodation, a special experience awaits you—one that will make you think: "I'm so glad I chose this place."

  • We stayed here for our first family trip after our baby was born. From check-in, the staff carried our luggage as soon as we arrived, and we were able to check in comfortably at a sofa seat with a drink—no waiting in line. The Room was spacious and spotless, and the Facility and amenities were well stocked. They also provided baby soap and a diaper disposal bin, which was incredibly helpful. We chose a Room with an open-air bath, which made bathing our child easy, and it was wonderful to relax in it after our baby fell asleep at night. Dinner was served in the Room. While we were putting our child to sleep during setup, the staff prepared everything very quietly and thoughtfully. They also brought out all courses at once instead of serving them one by one, which allowed us to enjoy dinner at our own pace while keeping an eye on our child. The food was absolutely delicious! The large public bath was also very spacious—we were extremely satisfied. With check-in at 2:00 PM and check-out at 11:00 AM, you can truly relax at the Hotel, which is a great point when traveling with a baby. Everyone at the Hotel was consistently polite and attentive. There is also a kids’ space, so it seems like it will be even more enjoyable when our child is a bit older—we’ve already said we definitely want to stay again.

  • We stayed here as a family of four. The spacious, spotless Room, the large public bath, the staff’s warm hospitality, and of course the excellent meals made it a wonderful memory.
What I personally appreciated most was how well the smoking rooms were set up. These days it can be tough for smokers—at even well-known Ryokan, smoking areas are often just a token corner of the lobby or simply an ashtray placed outside. Here, however, smoking areas were thoughtfully located in key spots such as the lobby, dining area, and beside the public bath, and each one was spacious and very well maintained. (This won’t matter to non-smokers, of course.) It felt like true separation between smoking and non-smoking areas was achieved, which was very comfortable.
It was my first time visiting Ikaho Onsen, and now I want to go again. A great Ryokan!

Introduction of the Accommodation

View

A grand hot spring bath, one of the largest in Northern Kanto, located on a hill with stunning views of the Joshu mountains.

In the early Tensho period, the Takeda clan, a prominent Sengoku-era family, allocated the hot spring sources of Ikaho to 12 village leaders using a system based on the Chinese zodiac to protect these ancient springs. Hotel Kogure, as the leading household at that time, was granted rights under the first zodiac sign "Rat" and still holds one-fourth of the total output of the "Golden Hot Spring" source (approximately 1,000–1,100 liters per minute). Enjoy this rich hot spring heritage preserved through generations and take in breathtaking views of Mount Joshu.

Notice from the Accommodation

  • Notice of Ikaho Onsen Source Cleaning Day

At Ikaho Onsen, the source spring facilities are cleaned regularly. During this work, the supply of hot spring water to each Accommodation will be suspended for several hours.

The work will be carried out on the following dates:

    **Source Spring Cleaning Schedule**
    Tuesday, June 2, 2026
    Wednesday, June 3, 2026
    Wednesday, July 1, 2026

As “Kogane-no-Yu” is a free-flowing Onsen (kakenagashi), the bath temperature will drop when the hot spring water supply is suspended. As a result, bathing at the usual temperature will be available from around 16:00 for the indoor bath and from around 17:00 for the open-air bath.

Baths that do not use Onsen water—such as the jacuzzi and silky bath—will be available as usual.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.
