Ryumeikan was established in 1899 (Meiji 32) as a branch of the former Naguraya Ryokan under the name "Ryokan Ryumeikan Main Store." With over 110 years of history, it was renamed "Hotel Ryumeikan Ochanomizu Honten" to be loved as a city brand hotel in this area of Kanda Ochanomizu, and it was newly renovated in August 2014. Transitioning from the traditional Ryokan business with only Japanese-style rooms, it has evolved into a next-generation hotel that blends Japanese and Western styles, functionality, and beauty, continuing the lineage of the city's Ryokan. We warmly welcome our guests with hospitality that makes them feel as if they are visiting a friend's home.

Hotel Ryumeikan Ochanomizu Honten has a history of welcoming guests through the Meiji, Taisho, Showa, and Heisei eras. It was established in 1899 (Meiji 32) as a branch of the former Nakuraya Ryokan under the name "Ryokan Ryumeikan Honten." The enju (pagoda tree) that has taken root here since its founding was charred during the Great Kanto Earthquake, but the following year, it sprouted new buds and can still be seen on the premises of the main building today. Additionally, the "hand-dyed" noren design, crafted by artisans from a long-established shop since the Taisho era, has been revived along with the shoji screens in the guest rooms, reflecting the design from the Ryokan era. Throughout the facility, you can feel the history of over a hundred years.
Nine guest rooms embodying "Tokyo no Wa."
The nine luxurious guest rooms, each exceeding 50 square meters, are designed as junior suites. With the concept of "Tokyo Wa" (Japanese style), the design blends the traditional beauty of ancient times with the modern and innovative aesthetic of the city. The shoji screen patterns are a revival of the design used in the shoji screens of the reception area during the Ryokan era, preserving a historical charm throughout the interiors. The bathrooms feature ceramic bathtubs. Made from Shigaraki ware ceramics, the bathtubs create a soothing and relaxing atmosphere. The generously filled tubs envelop your body, relieving fatigue. Experience the unique charm of Japan's distinctive bathing culture.
At RESTAURANT 1899 OCHANOMIZU, the main dining of Hotel Ryumeikan Ochanomizu Honten, not only tea for drinking but also tea-based dishes and desserts are offered under the concept of "Eating Tea."
We provide a library space for you to relax outside of your guest room. It is a soothing place where you can enjoy beverages and light snacks while exploring information about travel and Japanese culture.
