Located in Hita, the Little Kyoto of Kyushu, Oita, Hita Onsen is a historic hot spring area. The Ryokan Kayausagi is situated in Hita Onsen Kotohira. Enjoy the magnificent nature of Oita and Hita and the tranquility created by Kayausagi to the fullest.
Stayed during a trip with my two sisters to coincide with the Hita Ontayaki Festival. The staff were friendly and kind, the food was delicious, and everything from the retro Room to the Onsen's large bath and the compact Japanese-style garden was wonderful. We stayed in a Room by the river, and the sound of flowing water was very soothing. Since it is a relocated building of an old Japanese house or Western-style mansion, I would love to stay in other Rooms as well.

You need to buy drinks in.g advance at a liquor shop. 2 Please properly clean the dark grime that accumulates on the bottom of the open-air bath attached to the Room—was this a shortcut? The private family bath is good. 3 The hot spring quality is outstanding, which makes it even more disappointing that the staff do not seem to know about its alkaline, silky texture and skin-beautifying benefits. What a waste.

Monthly changing dishes. We have carefully selected seasonal flavors, respecting the natural taste of the ingredients, and meticulously prepared from appetizers to desserts. After relaxing in the Onsen, please enjoy the monthly flavors confidently crafted by our chef.
All rooms feature indoor and outdoor baths with natural hot spring water, and you can spend a luxurious day in a Western-style building exuding Taisho-era charm.
The baths at "kayausagi" include Yura-gi-yu (indoor) and Iwana (indoor and open-air). The open-air bath is only available at Iwana, but it alternates daily, allowing you to enjoy a different bath the next day of your stay.
Fully enjoy the tranquility created by the great nature of Oita and Hita along with Kayanusagi.
