Ryokan "Ogoto Onsen Yumotokan" located in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture, by the shores of Lake Biwa. Enjoy a tour of the four different onsen within the property, and we offer various accommodation plans and day-use plans. Please relax while gazing at Lake Biwa.
Including “Dog Villa Bettei Akai,” this was my sixth stay. This time, I chose “Hanare Yoshia” because a new Luxury Floor has been added after a renovation. Until now, the only drawback of “Hanare Yoshia” was the view from the Room, but the view from the “Hanare Yoshia Luxury Floor” is excellent. I was able to see a stunning sunrise from the in-room open-air bath. As always with “Hanare Yoshia,” the lounge is convenient to use, the staff’s hospitality is outstanding, and the meals are consistently reliable. Dinner in particular exceeds expectations every time—I’d even say it’s worth staying just for dinner. I will definitely stay again.
おでおでお 3/24/2026I stayed in the “Kotone” DX Suite.The Room was truly gorgeous, and I was able to enjoy a relaxing, luxurious time in the open-air bath in the Room.In addition, I could use the private open-air bath and hinoki cypress bath for 50 minutes, and I was able to truly unwind while surrounded by the soothing scent of wood. This time I couldn’t visit the large public bath due to time constraints, so I’d definitely like to try it next time.Dinner was served in a special dining room adjacent to the Room.A wide variety of dishes made with seasonal ingredients—including Omi beef—were beautifully presented, and every course was delicious. I was very satisfied. I also slept soundly on the Simmons bed.All staff were courteous and attentive, and I felt comfortable throughout my stay.It was a wonderful Accommodation that made me want to visit again.

Grand Opening in December 2024 The Onsen open-air bath attached rooms "Hanare Yashiroi" have been reborn as a total of 21 rooms on the "Standard Floor" from the 5th to the 7th floor and the "Luxury Floor" from the 8th to the 10th floor. "Hanare Yashiroi," our most popular room, has been loved by many guests. Please enjoy an extraordinary moment while overlooking the magnificent Lake Biwa on the "Luxury Floor" from the 8th to the 10th floor.
"Yashiroi" Lounge
In the exclusive lounge, we offer a variety of complimentary drinks. Additionally, we have foot baths, a library, and a selection of yukata and samue. Enjoy your time in a relaxed atmosphere, wearing your favorite attire, and spend quality moments with your loved ones. Meals are served in a dedicated dining area, featuring kaiseki cuisine that delicately highlights the blessings of Omi.
Our property offers rooms such as the "Tsukishintei Onsen Hinoki Bath Japanese Room" and the "Open-air Bath Japanese Room" with beautiful views of Lake Biwa, as well as the exclusive "Healing Room." We also have rooms in the separate building "Yashiroi," which opened in 2013. Each room is uniquely designed with different furnishings and views for your enjoyment. Please relax and enjoy your stay.
Ogoto Onsen is said to have been opened by Saicho about 1,200 years ago, and since then it has healed many travelers. Today, it continues to be loved by many people as a scenic lakeside spot and as a retreat in the backwoods of Otsu and Kyoto.
