Samana Hotel Yakushima (formerly Hotel Yakushima)
Kagoshima Prefecture/YakushimaA relaxing Hotel where you can enjoy the nature of Yakushima and natural Onsen with a pleasant southern breeze.
Surrender your heart to the deep, clear blue sea. Welcome to a Hotel where the horizon meets your dreams. The Hotel's pride, "Yakushima Onsen" (alkaline simple hot spring, pH 9.7), offers a luxurious silky texture that feels like soaking in a beauty serum bath. The gentle embrace of the water mirrors the stunning ocean surface. Close your eyes and enjoy the soothing southern breeze and the serene sound of pure waters for an indulgent moment of relaxation.
I wasn’t sure how to plan my first visit to Yakushima, but thanks to the advice I received in advance, it became a meaningful 3-day, 2-night trip. The Hotel is just the right size, and the staff’s attentiveness was exceptional—everything I saw throughout my stay felt pleasant and comfortable. Being able to enjoy an Onsen on the island and the breathtaking view from my Room—one you could watch forever without getting tired of it—made it even more special. The only regret is that there were so many dining options that I couldn’t try them all. I stayed solo this time, but I believe this is a valuable Accommodation where everyone—from solo travelers to three-generation family trips—can spend time comfortably. Thank you so much to all the staff.
まんむあん 3/24/2026Before our stay, they emailed to confirm whether we needed a trekking tour or boxed lunches, which made it easy to share details in advance and everything went smoothly. The Room was clean and the food was delicious. Everything at the buffet was great, and since it wasn’t a set course it was easy to adjust; the sashimi and the live-kitchen meat dishes were especially tasty! The pajamas came as separate top and bottom pieces and were comfortable to wear, and it was nice that plenty of towels were provided. The Room with an Onsen was expensive, but it was wonderful for relaxing after trekking or in the morning the next day—it really helped relieve fatigue. All of the staff were kind and spoke to us warmly; everyone we met was lovely. There is no Shuttle Service to the airport, and it’s a remote location, but if you’re renting a car for sightseeing, this Accommodation is highly recommended!

"samana hotel Yakushima" supports the "Yakushima Zero Carbon Island Declaration" announced by Yakushima Town in December 2023. As part of our eco-friendly initiatives to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, we actively engage in energy-saving measures, water conservation, the use of energy-efficient appliances, environmentally friendly amenities, and efforts to minimize food waste. Additionally, with our rebranding efforts, we have established the "samana Fund." Together with our guests, we aim to reflect on environmental sustainability and pass down the irreplaceable natural heritage registered as a World Natural Heritage site to future generations. Donations received will be used for activities such as maintaining hiking trails, preserving sea turtle nesting environments, projects utilizing locally sourced Yakusugi cedar wood, and organizing events within the island—all contributing to nature conservation and community support in Yakushima.

Experience the natural wonders of Yakushima through a variety of activities. On trekking adventures, discover ancient trees over 1,000 years old, lush moss-covered forests, diverse vegetation spanning from the coast to mountain peaks, and panoramic views from Kyushu's highest summit. With river kayaking or paddleboarding, enjoy crystal-clear streams and verdant mountains viewed from the water's surface. Snorkeling and diving reveal a vibrant underwater world with colorful tropical fish, coral reefs, and even sea turtles if you're lucky. A scenic drive around the island offers breathtaking waterfalls characteristic of this "island of water," white sandy beaches with cobalt-blue waves, and encounters with Yakushima deer or monkeys along the World Heritage-listed Seibu Forest Path. On rainy days or for a slower pace, try hands-on experiences like crafting with Yakusugi cedar wood or pottery making. Whether you're visiting for the first time or returning as a seasoned traveler, immerse yourself in Yakushima's rich array of activities! * Bento boxes for mountain treks can be arranged upon request by 7:00 PM on the day prior to your activity. * Please arrange your own equipment rentals and activity bookings directly; we are happy to assist by introducing guides—feel free to consult us anytime!
