9 rooms, a tranquil property to enjoy the rich nature of the national park and exclusive hot springs.
This is "Tsuchiyu Bettei Sato no Yu," a property with nine rooms located in Tsuchiyu Onsen, Fukushima Prefecture. Despite being a small property, all three natural hot spring baths on the premises are private, allowing you to enjoy your stay without concern for other guests, feeling as comfortable as at home. Additionally, Sato no Yu is situated in a gorge within Bandai-Asahi National Park, surrounded by untouched virgin forests, enabling you to experience the changing seasons throughout the property.
Staying in the detached guest room “Hanamura” at Tsuchiyu Bettei Sato no Yu was a truly fulfilling, irreplaceable experience. From the moment I stepped into “Hanamura,” I was struck by the impeccable cleanliness and the beauty of its calm, traditional Japanese design. The space felt refined yet warmly inviting, and I could feel myself relax from the very start. The sense of privacy unique to a detached room was also wonderful, allowing me to enjoy quiet, luxurious time without any concern for my surroundings.Dinner on each of the two nights featured different menus, and both were outstanding—so much so that mealtimes became something I looked forward to every day. Each dish reflected careful craftsmanship and a delicate approach that honored the ingredients, conveying the chef’s thoughtful attention to detail. Most unforgettable of all was the private Onsen “Shinpeki.” Soaking in complete tranquility surrounded by deep mountain woods was an incomparable luxury and became a special memory that will stay with me for a long time. That feeling of becoming one with nature remains vividly in my mind even now.I am also deeply grateful for the kind and attentive service from all staff members throughout my stay. Thanks to your warm and sincere hospitality, this visit became even more beautiful and memorable.I would love to return again next winter.Thank you very much for everything.
曾一舫 3/11/2026I first visited last year and everything was wonderful, so I came back again. The season was April, just like last time. However, last year we stayed in late April and the weeping cherry tree at the entrance to the annex “Hanamura” was in full bloom, along with the lion-camellias deeper on the grounds. This time it was still a bit early, so we weren’t able to see the cherry blossoms. This time we couldn’t reserve an annex Room, so we stayed in a main building Room called “Kaede.” It was a bright corner Room overlooking the walking path below. The simple Japanese-modern design felt open and airy, and everything was spotless and comfortable. In the main building you can move around without shoes and easily access the dining area and lounge—different from staying in an annex, but very convenient in its own way.Because of that convenience, we ended up using the lounge a lot: my husband enjoyed delicious local sake, while my daughter, my mother, and I relaxed on comfortable sofas with ice cream and snacks. We truly unwound during our stay (perhaps a little too much). And of course, one of this Accommodation’s highlights is the private baths. This time we used “Mizuhanada,” a semi-open-air bath right after check-in; “Hazome,” a large indoor bath just before dinner; and “Shinpeki,” an open-air bath before breakfast (where we saw a serow last year). Each bath had its own wonderful view and atmosphere—we fully enjoyed the Onsen. The meals—featuring Fukushima’s seafood and mountain delicacies—were just as excellent as last time. Everything delighted both our eyes and our palate. Once again I was reminded how simply outstanding the rice and sake are here. I also loved breakfast being served with several small portions of local dishes; it left a great impression again this year.Another key part of what makes this Accommodation so comfortable is the service. Every staff member was exceptionally polite and attentive. From welcome to farewell, they understood what we needed without us having to say much, providing smooth service with exactly the right level of care—making our stay completely stress-free. It truly is remarkable. While everyone in my family loves the baths, food, and service here, one personal favorite for me is also ikebana throughout the property. Each arrangement elegantly enhances this Accommodation’s refined atmosphere with great taste—it’s genuinely beautiful. An Accommodation where everything is wonderful. If it were closer to home, I would visit many times each year across all four seasons—spring through winter alike. Hoping to return again soon.

Introduction of the Accommodation

Experience the luxury of a completely private hot spring bath at a tranquil Property surrounded by lush nature.
"Sato no Yu" opened in Showa 59 in Tsuchiyu Onsen. Located in a valley within the Bandai-Asahi National Park, the Property is surrounded by untouched primeval forests, allowing guests to enjoy seasonal flowers such as peonies, primroses, and rhododendrons. Additionally, you may spot squirrels and serows depending on the season. Each Room is named after the trees visible from its windows. The ability to feel the changing seasons through the Room's windows is a unique feature of Sato no Yu, embraced by abundant nature. In addition to the private baths in each Room, there are three other baths available: the open-air Onsen "Shinpeki," the ancient cypress indoor bath "Hajizome," and the semi-open-air ancient cypress bath "Seiran." All three can be reserved for private use by booking a time slot for each Room, allowing you to enjoy your stay with a "home-like" feeling.

Sato-no-Yu is a Property with nine Rooms, including the detached Room "Hanamura" featuring an open-air bath. Surrounded by nature, it offers a serene and relaxing space filled with the gentle breeze through the trees, the sound of flowing water, and birdsong—an experience unique to Sato-no-Yu. In addition to three private baths, each Room is equipped with an ancient cypress bath supplied directly from the hot spring source, allowing you to fully enjoy its benefits in the comfort of your own Room.

Our meals consist of a kaiseki course with 9 to 10 dishes. You can enjoy the seasonal "freshness" and "lingering flavors" unique to Japanese cuisine, along with the taste of each season's specialties. Meals are served either in your Room or in a private dining area, allowing you to enjoy your dining time without concern for other guests.

All three Onsen at Sato no Yu are available for private use per Room. "Shinpeki," two open-air baths nestled in the forest. "Hajizome," featuring luxurious use of cypress wood for the bathtub, floor, and walls. "Seiran," a semi-open-air bath with a window view to enjoy the changing seasons. Enjoy the natural hot spring water flowing directly from the source to your heart's content. At Sato no Yu, we also take great care in providing towels and skincare products for your comfort after bathing.

We offer a lounge space available for use after enjoying the Onsen or before bedtime. Spend time with a cup of coffee, gazing at the seasonal changes through the large bay window. Enjoy a moment with a chilled beer or ice cream after the Onsen, engaging in pleasant conversation. Savor local sake from Fukushima, one of Japan's renowned rice regions, before retiring for the night. This space is designed to enrich your stay.
