Because it is a little away from the Kinugawa Onsen area, it was very quiet, and the view of the Kinugawa River from the Room was wonderful. The dinner was exceptionally delicious. It was the best meal I have had at any Accommodation in the past few years. It made for a very fulfilling solo trip combining sightseeing in Nikko with Kinugawa Onsen.
kurijkd 3/9/2026Arrived earlier than expected, but the staff welcomed us warmly without any complaints. The facility was quite cold... Make sure to bring your own innerwear. Meals were served in a completely private room!! We enjoyed them leisurely and they were delicious! The futon was prepared for us, making it a very comfortable stay. The view from the Room was amazing! However, it was quite cold overall.

Except for one Room with a Japanese garden, all other Rooms have windows offering views of the changing seasons. In front, there are lush mountains and dragonflies flying in the sky, and below, the Kinugawa River flows vigorously through rugged rocks. Please fully enjoy the Kinugawa River view that changes with the seasons and time.
We welcome our guests at the charming Nagaya Gate. During the day, the contrast of the blue sky and green bamboo creates a beautiful scene, while at night, the illuminated Nagaya Gate becomes enchanting.
The warm lobby lounge, characterized by its high ceilings and large windows, exudes a relaxed atmosphere. Enjoy your time in this soothing space, whether admiring the small courtyard with bamboo and vibrant koi swimming gracefully in the pond or reading books in the library corner.
At the restaurant with a nostalgic atmosphere featuring a well and stove modeled after a traditional kitchen, we offer private Rooms. Enjoy a private space without concern for your surroundings, relax, and take your time.
Wakatake no Sho is located along the Kinugawa River, slightly away from the central Onsen town of Kinugawa, offering a panoramic view of lush green landscapes on the opposite bank.
