Experience the charm of cultural heritage at our accommodation 【Reopening from January 11, 2025】
Yanagawa, a beautiful water city where boats glide through 930 kilometers of Edo-period canals that stretch across the town. At the heart of this historic city lies the Tachibana family, whose legacy has been intertwined with Yanagawa for centuries. The history of Ohana began in the Edo period as a villa for the Tachibana family, lords of Yanagawa Domain. Passing through the Western-style building constructed in the Meiji era as an authentic guesthouse to a grand hall with 100 tatami mats, you will find a stunning garden adorned solely with magnificent pine trees. The renovated accommodation wing has been transformed into a space where guests can fully appreciate cultural treasures inherited by descendants of this noble family. We offer unique activities and experiences that highlight our distinction as Japan's only nationally designated scenic spot ryokan where you can stay overnight, allowing you to immerse yourself in the history and stories of this daimyo family (Tachibana).
The Hotel’s Facility was excellent, and the service from all staff members was truly outstanding. We had originally made a Reservation for the “Daimyo Boat Breakfast,” but at that time it was difficult to operate due to the canal water level. Instead, the Hotel kindly arranged a special Yanagawa river cruise (Yanagawa Donkobune), which gave us a rare and wonderful experience. We are sincerely grateful. The Room was comfortable, and the meals in the Hotel were delicious. We felt at ease throughout our stay. The staff were attentive and warm, making this a truly memorable visit. We would love to return again. Thank you very much.
MINNIE 3/1/2026This was my first stay at Tachibana-tei Ohana. I had been interested in this Accommodation for some time, and after staying here, it has become a place I definitely want to visit again. The relaxing atmosphere and the garden spread out below are truly soothing. Since I have a big appetite, I also ordered room service; there was a decent variety of items, so it may be a good option for anyone who might get a little hungry. The amount of food served was satisfying as well, and for most guests it should be more than enough to keep you satisfied through breakfast. I had breakfast on a boat, and enjoying the meal while chatting with the boatman one-on-one felt like wonderful hospitality. That morning there were many people along the riverside path because Hina Matsuri boats were scheduled to run, but being able to experience both the river cruise and breakfast together is something unique to Tachibana-tei Ohana. The staff provided excellent service and took great care of me. Considering the quality of the Accommodation, service, cuisine, and location, I feel it offers value beyond its price. It may be ideal if you want to unwind and take your time doing nothing in particular. The pier is also nearby, so taking a river cruise after check-out could be a great idea. With cherry blossoms blooming soon, I imagine the view from the Room will be spectacular as well. I would love to stop by again. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

Introduction of the Accommodation

Experience the charm of cultural heritage at our accommodation 【Reopening from January 11, 2025】
Yanagawa, a beautiful water city where boats glide through 930 kilometers of Edo-period canals that stretch across the town. The Tachibana family has been an integral part of this historic town. The history of Ohana began in the Edo period as a villa for the Tachibana family, lords of Yanagawa Domain. Passing through the Western-style building, constructed in the Meiji era as an authentic guesthouse, you will find yourself in a grand 100-tatami mat hall overlooking a stunning garden adorned solely with pine trees. The renovated accommodation wing has been transformed into a space where guests can fully appreciate the charm of this cultural heritage still preserved by descendants of the feudal lord's family. We offer unique activities and experiences that highlight our distinction as Japan's only nationally designated scenic spot ryokan where you can stay overnight, allowing you to immerse yourself in the history and stories of the Tachibana family.

Yanagawa, a water city where canals stretch throughout the town and boats glide along the waterways. Each season offers its own unique beauty as time flows by. We recommend arriving via a river cruise from Yanagawa Station. The moats are also connected to the Ariake Sea, which boasts Japan's largest tidal range. The Ariake Sea is approximately a 15-minute drive from Ohana.

Engawa Lounge
After dinner, enjoy a free lounge experience on the veranda of the grand hall, feeling like royalty. Choose your favorite drink unique to Chikugo, take in the serene view of the night garden, and relax to the soothing sounds of nature. Spend a special evening in a cultural heritage setting.

The Taigetsukan Terrace is open at night exclusively for accommodation guests. As the name "Taigetsukan" suggests, it is a place where the moon appears especially beautiful as it approaches fullness. The reflection of the moon on Shotoen Garden is exceptionally stunning.

The next morning, visit the serene Shotoen Garden.
The pine trees illuminated by the early morning sun are truly beautiful. Spending a moment on the veranda while gazing at Shotoen in the refreshing morning is one of the highlights of staying at Ohana Accommodation. Available hours: From 6:30 AM *Please note that if a wedding ceremony is being held in the grand hall, access to the hall itself will not be available, but you can still enjoy viewing Shotoen from the veranda.

The entire 7,000-tsubo estate of the Tachibana family, preserved through generations, is designated as a "National Place of Scenic Beauty."
Let us introduce the premises.
