A historic accommodation with traditional Japanese Sukiya-style architecture, established in the first year of the Meiji era at Dogo Onsen.

Long ago, Prince Shotoku visited the oldest Onsen in Japan, Dogo. In this location, Yamato-ya was established in the first year of the Meiji era, and in the summer of the eighth year of the Heisei era, it reopened as Yamato-ya Honten. We welcome you with the hospitality of a Ryokan, enhanced by the services of a Hotel, celebrating the beauty and spirit of Japan. Here lies a new Japan, nostalgic yet beautiful.

  • My daughter was drawn to the all-you-can-eat salmon roe breakfast buffet, so the three of us stayed as a family. We enjoyed dinner at a relaxed pace in a private room, and everything was delicious. The mandarin orange tap, sake bar, and retro snack bar were also fun. For breakfast, of course, we went back for seconds of seafood rice bowls. It was fantastic.Thank you for letting us keep our car parked even after checkout. The staff were kind and courteous as well, and we would love to stay again.

  • The large public bath was excellent—spacious, spotless, and with great water quality. The Room felt a little dated, but we were very satisfied with the wide range of services, such as mandarin orange juice on tap, sake tastings, and a traditional snack bar. We arrived a bit early, but we really appreciated that they stored our luggage and delivered it to our Room.
